Blog – Jira : More Versatile Clothing Layers
More Versatile Clothing Layers Jira :
Second life would benefit immensely from a simplification of the clothing layers. Modern SL clothing is cut using alpha maps, as the built-in sliders for trimming the clothing leave messy edges and are not really usable. The functionality that is worth keeping is the ability to change bagginess in various areas. Beyond that, there isn’t really any reason not to put all clothing on meta layers. A meta layer would be a single clothing article with 3 texture spots which would be by default a transparent texture. The 3 texture spots are of course legs/feet, torso, and head. The meta layer could then be applied to the avatar on a new set of clothing layers marked simply from 0 to 10, or 20, or whatever it is deemed necessary to fully outfit an avatar.
The benefits of this sort of change are many, beyond just the verastility of being able to put your undies on over your tattoo, or your shirt on over the bra that only came on the shirt layer because the designer was apparently high. For example, it is common practice for ambitious designers to put their clothing items on all layers – to allow for the kind of versatility of this new system (although it falls short). This means that for a single shirt, for example, you’ll have 3 inventory items: an undershirt, shirt, and jacket version. This means 3 assets the server needs to keep track of. A designer who uses this as their standard will generate about 2.5x as many assets to create an outfit as one who don’t offer items on all layers. This could be massively reduced, much to the relief of overstuffed fashionista inventories, asset servers, and sim servers the metaverse over.
Existing clothing might be able to be ported to the new system, although it would require experimentation to determine for certain. Lots of (ancient) clothing that does depend on the sliders to trim the clothing would wind up breaking if those sliders were no longer effective, since it is impossible to translate the sliders to a system that include shirt and glove components together. Thus it may be necessary to allow older clothing to continue using the old system of shirts, socks, underpants, etc.
Unfortunately this would mean that the new system would need to be flexible enough to allow people to create their own layer ordering to be able to put new clothing items under or over the older clothing layers, however this creates another opportunity to improve the versatility of older content. Since it would be necessary to create a layer organizer to allow people to choose the order in which clothing items stack, it would be possible to wear several shirts at the same time layered on different strata, allowing older clothing to be just as versatile as newer meta layers. This would also allow people with overstuffed inventories to go through and delete unnecessary duplicates of items that were created on all layers.
Notes:
An additional feature allowing people to update their clothing to meta layer clothing might be worthwhile, though permissions would need to be investigated to ensure abuse is not possible.
It could be possible to leave the layer limit as a very high value (like 50) if the clothing layers were not broadcast to the server until fully baked, like Emerald does when clothing layer protection is enabled.

Blog – Suki Suki La La
So the other day I was flipping through some pics, fashion ones. I came across some ankle boots, and it was instant drool worthiness. Then later that same day, I came across a pair very similar, and they definitely deserved my attention.
The CoCo Zipper boots are just too cool to pass up, a few days later I ended up seeing them as well as others featured on Fabulous Fashion by Carissa Crimson, and I almost ended up with more by this creator, but with Shoe Fair only days away I have decided to wait.
With the oncoming cool weather for the majority of SL residents, stores are changing their colour pallettes, but bold vibrant prints are taking charge and are not going down quietly. LeLutka has just done another large release of incredible clothing, and with their new regime of smaller releases, it is going to be hard to keep up.
Charliz is Dancing in Polka, is a sexy mini dress, with bold pattern and colours. This style reminds me so much of Grace Jones I just had to get hair to match, or in this case Hera.
Another Vanity Skin Fair skin, this time by Chai Suki, the Elise skin is a sneak peak of more to come from this range, and in this make up is released at the fair in all tones..with more to come. Four lovely tones, with great body work, and passionate make up.
The body of the skins as stated is great, and unusual to see vein work on the legs and hands, it is only subtle but definitely there, giving it a more natural look. Even the underneath of the feet have the shading of bent toes, which I found really cool.
When thinking bold and vibrant, you can’t really go past Artilleri, so with that in mind I decided to show off the tones in the LeeLee bikini, a lovely vintage swimsuit, that if you do not have it, you must go get it now.

Sometimes you can find a piece of clothing, that has been constructed to not wear as it’s own item only, but definitely as an enhancement piece for many…allowing you to merge different pieces, and even different designers together.
One such piece that evokes that for me, is the Mia Corset pants by LeeZu. This corset under the bust style, that flares out into a ruffled shorts romper look is just fabulous, and even better is the high side slits, keeping it sexy and alluring.
I teamed it up with an equally sexy dress from BOOM that allowed me; due to it being mod, to shorten it enough that it didn’t show through the slits on the side of the pants.
I am also wearing the fantastic NEW La Vivien boots from Courtisane , these come in a lovely range of colours and feature the lovely work of both Enktan Gully and LeeZu Baxter. The boots are a slouched ankle boot look, with detailing in both the texture and addition of floral embelishment. With boots tucked in, or your favourite dress or skirt, they will come up a treat all year.
Another treat is the Amanda skin from Adam n Eve, more make ups that previously released. The skin as stated in the past definitely has a Eurasian feel to it dependent on your shape. Four beautiful skin tones, and as usual so many amazing options, now with breast enhancement, and hair bases, different lashes, and manicure/pedicures as extras ; as well as freckles, seriously one make up comes with a bazillion pieces.
Recently with the launch of What’s New SL Adam n Eve sent the incredibly hot leather pants and bra set to the group, it is hot hot hot, so I had to wear it to show off the skins, and it didn’t hurt the breast enhancements too much.

Blog – I Wish
I swear she tried to stick something up my bum yesterday, and she also tried to marry my male me, not my male, but me as a male. It sounds complicated but it really isn’t, just another day of ours flitting about SL being all up in each others stuff.
Actually that’s the best thing about us, we don’t have to worry about everything else going on, we more than make up for every moment with each other, just chilling, or squabbling over who didn’t tp who where, and why one of us has hair the other doesn’t yet… I love us.
But because of that, I ended up a little lax in the getting this release out of me, not because I wasn’t chomping at the bit to do so, but more of a case of so many other things to get done, I knew that Ashia would be all cool with me being a slacker, as she is in the same boat anyways.
Same with Whimsy and Arabella I am sure. Idiosyncrasy is owned by Ashia Tomsen, and she has been working her little bottom off lately to create some fantastic skin lines, and with back to back skin fairs she like many had to pull out all stops.
The Idiosyncrasy skin release for Vanity Skin Fair is the Mia Exotic, a darker tone skin that comes with a small smattering of freckles across the bridge of the nose. Beautiful tone for a darker skin fan, with a lovely assortment of make ups, that don’t get lost on this shade of skin.
A few weeks ago Cajsa came by to visit at The Deck , and while there she was wearing a great hairstyle by booN which I decided this week I had to have, it’s long straight style is just lovely, and the way it moves is so natural.
While running around SL on Thursday night, late enough that the 50L friday vendors had already put out their items, I ran into Kellie Iwish of Elate. I was talking to her in IM and actually headed over to her new store, not actually at the time aware she too was on the list for the day. Not only did I fall for that item, but many more, including this dress, WOW I made such big letter statements to her I am sure, it was love at first sight, there are two versions of Raeva, named after a friend of Kellies, but this one had me at YUM.
Even better that they go so well with the Kalnins Boudoir Shoes. As soon as I had these on my feet and played with the HUD, I was into the contrast looks big time, and red and black is always a firm favourite for me, especially a red heel.
Make sure if you do get these shoes you make them most of them, don’t just wear one full colour, utilise all their functions and mix it up, sometimes adding a splash of accent colour, even if just the heels or rim can pull a whole outfit together.

blog – Playing with Ken
Some refer to dressing up in Second Life, as dressing up their Barbies. That’s cool, but today I got to play with a life sized Ken.
Now the great thing about being in a relationship, is getting to imagine all the fabulous shopping you will get to do for your partner. Well I actually met mine while he was out shopping, I sold him many suits and we became good friends from that, and then on to more ♥.
Thing is though, as much as I want to dress him up in yummy things, he decided long ago that his inventory was not going to get much bigger, if anything it has gotten smaller, and he teases me about mine daily.
But he definitely has an eye for style, and if I can manage it, I am so taking him to Baiastice for these wonderful new clothing items for men. Sissy has done the male community proud, a big shout should be heard around the grid, because the opportunity for men to dress as stylishly as their female friends/partners/colleagues just got a whole lot easier.
I love all the pieces, they interchange with each other so effortlessly, suits and separates definitely an incredible opportunity for different looks.
I also had a lot of fun with the hair, yes all mine, and about time I got to use it all. The hairstyles with hats, are fantastic scripted to change styles from MadDesigns, I love both as they are such blokey bloke looks without being too blokey, and definitely on the right side of fashion.
Also making me very happy, aside from my favourite City Walk shoes, was the fact that my J’s shoes/boots all had male options with them.
If you are dieing to redress your male friends/partners then make sure you check out the new collection, and while there, maybe slip next door to the womens.

Blog – Iris you have 15 days to post
Did you know Iris Ophelia did make ups? well I didn’t but I did, all at the same time. You see Iris did an incredible set of Geisha skins for Another Fundraiser 2008, and they were incredibly popular.
Well now she has taken her hand at creating make ups for another skin line.Chia Skins with the Help of Iris Ophelia has released the ChaIris range. beautiful make ups that have been altered by Launa Fauna to fit her skin range, I love this idea, as potentially many could excell in make up creation, but lack the skill it takes to create a whole skin. I myself have played at doing that, I would actually love to see some stores embrace the idea, maybe even holding an event to have customers submit make up looks for a range.
These are just lovely, and the bodies of the Chai skins are drop dead sexy. Make sure you check out this collection at the Vanity Skin fair, but they will also be in Chai after the fair, as will all the skins from this event.
Now the clothes I am wearing are oldies and newies, the pants are the first amazing clothing item to come from Aemilia Case of Fusemelon, lovely cream linen pants. Aems spent a long time teaching herself to create clothing and I for one was so excited to see the outcome, the Fusemelon store was a rebranding of Philotic Energy, and the branding change has been a lovely success.
Wanting to point out also, some beautiful jewelry pieces from Sable Rose. Not only does Rosie Barthelmess make jewelry, but earlier this week I was BLESSED to hear her sing at The Patio, a space she has set aside near her store to perform at, and you will want to take time to hear her, she is INCREDIBLE.
The Jael Jewelry is very Boho Chic, can be worn dressy or casual, and has such lovely textures to it’s collection.

Blog – Mermaid Sasy
Ok so behind behind behind, it’s been an incredibly crazy week. Our group have all been experiencing bloggers bleeps and blunders, no really if I could film it, this week would have been hilarious, frustrating but hilarious.
Skin Fair is still going strong, and I have to catch up on the few days I missed. This is Kelly, she is one of the latest skins by YS & YS. I always like how different these skins look on my shape, as I don’t touch my shape, so it is good to see what features a skin emphasises over another.
They have hair bases, and freckles, as well as light and dark brows options. There is a lovely range of make ups, so you can utilise one line from morning until night, which is always nice.
I was setting up a new store on What’s New SL today, and on my visit to the location I was astounded to find a room full of incredible AO’s, and not your average sit, stand, walk AO’s but amazing theme inspired ones.
From Vamps to Neko’s, Dolls and Puppets, to Robots and Mermaids…seriously they are all there and more. I wish I had known about this store prior to Halloween. They are called CI (Creative Insanity) and you really need to give them a whirl. There are also some fabulous dollarbie animations.
Whimsy of Virtually Dressed and I couldn’t resist picking up the Mermaid AO while there, it not only has wonderful animations, but also a full clam display poseset with one pose for pic taking, and that is where I thought it ended, but NOOOOO you also get a full Mermaid outfit in different colours, as shown in the pic up top in the blue. Really well put together and a bargain believe me.

Blog – Wrapped in Plastik
Wrapped in plastik it’s fantastic, yes I know it’s not spelled that way, but it is in this case. I had a bag similar to this in the past, in bright colours, a few of them in fact, which would lead to a funny story about my mum and a snooty waiter at a famous tourist attraction down here, but I think I have told it before.
Baiastice is a store synonymous with style and high fashion, definitely a turning point for many when it comes to how they see themselves, and how they want to be seen. The collections have always been show stoppers, and it really is an all in one shopping experience, from accessories, separates, full outfits and skins.
The latest skins are available at the Vanity Skin Fair until 22nd November, the new make ups are lovely, soft and appealing, with dramatic eyes for a dressier look.
The outfit I am wearing is a fantastic use of this style of texture, the bag seperate. It actually even comes with a beret style hat, but I was more about this hair with it today. Even though definitely a high end look, the style of it is very runway for the day, and there are many second lifers that pull that off so well.

Blog – Riding
Up and down, in and out, seriously today has been a bloops and blunders kind of day. Freezing, and crashing, up again changing settings back to mine, roll over and do si do and sheeesh it has been whacko.
Aden Breyer has also released his latest Generation 5 Skins at the fair, four lovely tones and striking faces make up these skins. I am a fan of Adens work, whether it be hair or skins, as you can tell definitely a hair fan in general.
I really like the strength of this skin, the body is soft and subtle, which for those that don’t do nakey usually at all will find not an issue, but that’s why it is so awesome we have demos, so that you can see exactly what it is you are getting.
My favourite parts would have to be the stomach and bottom, shading is wonderful, and the lips and make up isn’t too over the top, but definitely suits all situations. It was funny because as I was taking the pics for this post a girl in fashion emergency was choosing which one she liked best and sent us a pic, and she looked so amazingly different than I did in the skin, that I do love how shapes can make such a difference.
*Waves to Kamilah Nemeth * I think she looked incredible in the skin, I really hope she chose which she liked best.
The other week when I was actually at Adens store I revisited the Kat hair, I remember when it first came out I was a bit hesitant as I would have nothing to wear with it, then the other week I thought I don’t need anything in particular I just want a hair fix lol. Then YAY Aoharu released their new Short Riders leather jackets and it was all sorts of squeeling.
The detailing on these jackets is just super, the intricate prims, the texture , all of it is win. They come with both gold and silver options, and the sizing of it was a piece of cake , in other words I didn’t have to do any lol.
As soon as I saw the notice of the New Sassy Kitty Designs Jodhpurs in leather I was off and running, not only in the price just too low in my opinion, but the texturing is fantastic, they come in three colours and two styles, so make sure you grab both.
