    Chilly

    Chilly
    Peeptoe

Ok first off so you don’t miss out, there are some things that have a time limit on them, as in a fantastic Jewelry SALE that ends tomorrow, and skin stuff you wont want to miss out on. Not to mention HAIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR love and 3/4’s.

So MOOD turned two this month, so the whole store has been reduced, gifting is available also through the nifty vendors, so be sure to check it out. The necklace and earrings I am wearing in the middle me, are Chaos, and just glorious as a lovely accompaniment to a look. Another great saving this weekend is the annual Skin Addiction SALE…I did mention it yesterday, if you join the group in world and wear your tag, then purchase the skins set out in the stores advertised, you get a rebate off your purchase. This gorgeous NEW Face from Ploom is Lea, and the chill make up is the Skin Addiction item for this weekend. The price is 800L for one tone in two brow options, but you get 50% back after purchase, so YAY. I love it so much this face, and Whimsy looked stunning in it too.

Now onto another thing you wont want to miss out on. Exile is retiring some of its hair, not all that is on SALE thank goodness, but most of it…and the SALE means 50L packs for the next week or so in the discounted area, and believe me there are dozens of incredible styles, three  of which I am wearing in this post and love them so much. I had Shirelle the one in the middle already, but Lacy on the right LOVE LOVE LOVE and Olivia were new to me. So do not miss out, because the styles up for grabs are incredible.

I discovered last minute last night that Casa Del Shai is also having a SALE, everything is 50L and the shorts I have on I adore so much I went back today and bought them in all the colour packs. Lots of great items to buy at Shai’s and I just think her new build is so funny and adorable. The jeans on the left are the NEW high waist jeans from Artilleri, Antonia has always done incredible denim in my opinion, so much so that I even have her mens jeans because I love her style so much, and her cuffs always make me happy. The over sized cardigan is the latest Mon Tissu MESH release, rigged to move with the body and just snuggly goodness. The bag is from Celoe and also rigged Mesh, so that it moves with you instead of you going one way and your bag going another as is often the case.

Other glorious Mon Tissu items are the Lycia Tank – MESH – and modesty bandeau top, that is definitely a wearable on its own, or layered with others as done with the tank from Maitreya. The Fur trimmed coat is a divine representation of vintage aline coats, and as I used to sell the real vintage ones years ago this is incredibly well made…not mesh for those not convinced to make that move yet, so a purchase must have for all viewer users.

The MESH Glitter Peeptoe shoes are from SLink, glorious vintage look heels, with so many options with colours. Make sure you grab the multipack because you will be able to wear them with so many outfits with the upcoming festive season and new years formal looks.

Do not miss out on the savings and the goodies this weekend but save some money for monday too, I hear things are going to be happening that day…

    Swish

    Breakfast with Audrey

Some more Vintage Fair goodness, the fair is on until the 3rd of December, so you still have lots of time left to shop and revisit all the stores at the event.

The shoes I am wearing are Kalnins, they have been really quiet in releases of late but have returned. It always seems a perfect match with whatever colour blend he makes for his shoes, seems to always be the colours I am wearing. This time didn’t let me down either, and being able to customise the shoe yourself with the options available is fun…but I will say that one day I pray he changes his skin tinting hud, because that thing just baffles me every time, and I think the HUD fairies just feel sorry for me in the end and let me get the feet close enough lol.

The skirts I am wearing are these cute retro inspired skirts from Ninia, they are really adorable and I couldn’t stop at one. They are mod and the waist did need a bit of work as the shape of it was a tad rounder than waist shape, but I moved it up and down until it fit me better location wise. The tops are also from Vintage fair, from Sn@tch on the left to Nemesis on the right and middle, it all seemed to work well together colour palette wise as well.

All of the lovely hair is from Elikatira, and I swear Elika felt my pain at having recently deleted my CS Cowgirl hair, and replaced it with Claim, which is really a hot style and allows for changing of the hat texture with the menu. The skin I am wearing is from BeetleBones, it is a lovely youthful face and a starting off point for Beetle Bones in the skin area…at this time for Thanksgiving and all that Black Friday stuff, the Skin Addiction Groups annual skin sale is on, and this skin is part of a promotion for that event, so make sure you try it fast and grab yours at a saving. You can find more info on the sale and participating stores HERE  you will need to join the group to take advantage of the savings. It is a great group that Voshie Paine started, so if you are a skin addict, then that is definitely a group you want to be in.

Lastly some great accessories, first off how adorable is the LoveGame necklace from Line. I tell you what as a 39 year old girl, I can imagine in RL if you were to wear this around same aged men, you would get their hearts racing and their thumbs twitching lol. The second fabulous accessory is the Weekend Traveller bag by Mon Tissu, this is a Mesh item and is just glorious. Also if you are a fan of the show Pan AM there is a perfect Pan Am blue option as a must have.

    Vintage Mix

    Vintage Mix

So the other night, I was all ready to log back in to Second Life, and shock horror no internet. Seriously getting a straight answer from our main internet/phone company in Australia is like pulling teeth. Being told on Tuesday night that the service should be seen to on Thursday night is just excruciatingly painful, but surprise surprise they got it done early…yay.

So instead of fiddle faddling around when I finally got it back, here I am in all my yummyness…the outfits are great too :P.

Working left to right, as I always do – mangas make me cry, no matter how many times Mel tries to get me to read them. Anywho, the look on the left is my way of showing off the Vintage Fair goodies, with the new Celoe items, ok so is look two but shhhh, it is look one we are talking about now, stop jumping ahead. I am dieing to start from the bottom, but lets go to the top first. The hair is from Vanity Hair, the style is a great girl next door, Sandra Dee/Gidget look.

The skin is a skin from Damned, they did three make ups for the fair, all shown in the three looks. Full lips, smokey eyes and a beauty spot, all works for me. DEMO DEMO DEMO.  League produced this marvelous cardigan for the fair, it comes with a lovely threaded through scarf look that goes from texture on the cardigan itself – also in extra layers, to then more 3D with the bow portion being sculpted. Default is cream no matter what colour you buy, but you also get an additional two colours with each one…I kept to the cream and with this brown an additional tan and teal was included. League has really been producing some incredible antique inspired looks lately and I am loving them all so far. The length of the cardigan is also great for layering and it comes with many options to do that with ease.

I almost wore this bag the other day, but wasn’t feeling it, and glad I waited as it ended up the perfect contrast and colour combo for this look. The contrast being the studs on the leather, not exactly soft and delicate like the cardigan and that is all love. It is a great size and shape, and the leather studded work is fantastic. YAY I am at the pants, the pants that are just MESH heaven. The length is fantastic, being tall in RL it is great to have pants that are supposed to be long, actually stay long. The wide leg and beautiful fabric just works for my mature and sophisticated wardrobe palette so well, all win by Celoe. I watched Thora and Minnu galavant around in these for weeks, and I used to make grabby hands at my screen longing for them, they are just as beautiful on as I imagined they would be.

This next look is me taking apart a dress again. The luccy dress by Purple Moon is stunning, so cute with its plaid skirt and white gloves etc, but I wanted to show how it could be worn after you get the dress wear out of it. The top itself has been finished superbly for this kind of mixing and matching, a stand alone item in its own right, YAY for designers that think ahead. The style top is vintage goodness, the off centre buttoning, the wide cowl neckline and the bow adorning the pec, so cute. The Purple Moon releases were so breathtaking at Vintage Fair that Whimsy and I went to their main and WOWZA there is a lot of shopping to be done.

My other pants love from the Mesh Celoe release are the Xui shorts, these to me have such a school boy long shorts look – here we wear uniforms, us girls wear either full dress uniforms or skirts and blouses, and the boys shirts, shorts or pants and ties, shorts due to the heat – So seeing these pants in grey first was woot for me. But then on the day of release I put on the brown ones and was all drooly. An extra special win is that the Mery gloves and Cairo boots, also Mesh also Celoe, have the same colour in both as the Luccy top/dress so it was big time bloggers fate waiting to show a look in this way. The gloves are incredibly stitched leather, they look like driving clubs from the 50’s totally could have been a vintage fair release in their own right too. The Cairo boots are mesh but not rigged, and come in small and large default sizes, but also come with resizers included that you can kill once you are happy – make sure you make a back up copy first.

Wearing the Ploom hair, I chose the streaked version – you get plain or streaked in every pack – and went with sandy coloured streaks in the rich brown, to offset the overall look.

To get out of pants for a bit, I went with another great frock from Vintage Fair, again could be used as a stand alone top, but as a dress it is just lovely. The collar comes in both the black or the creamy colour of the sheer like insert. The style is pure vintage goodness, I would wear this often if it was RL. I especially like the thin leather belt at the waist in a deep brown… apparently now it is fashionable to mix your browns and blacks, where as in the past that was a no no. It does tie in well though with the creamy insert and Mel has been mixing the two for ages and fighting me on it all the time lol. The creamy works well with the new Mesh Celoe Norma Clutch, with a great hold that wont break when using your AO or other poses. The clutch has metal accents in copper or silver, even though unseen in this pic I went with the copper. I really liked the relaxed look of this hair by Clawtooth by Clawtooth, it is one of the Collabor88 styles, so make sure if it is still there you grab it, because the price is awesome.

My new thing you may notice is to include the pose store and equipment I used in the pic, I don’t usually do credits on my pics, prefering people to visit the blog, but with poses even though I do always include them, they get lost in the crowd somehow. Also with using very sedate poses in most shoots, they get all mixed up visually too, so I think having the name on the pic allows for a little more exposure, and may help people looking for pose stores to shop at go ‘ ooo I need to go there’ lol.

    Have a great day/night all…

    Standard Sizing

I love shoes, and even though this post isn’t about shoes, in RL I am a 10 or a 41 depends on where the shoes are made. If I go into any shoe store in the world, generally I can just ask for a 41 or a 10 and depending on the style of the shoe, it should fit me perfectly. When the saleslady comes out and tells me they don’t have it in a 10/41 but would I like to try a 9? I growl internally, because if I could fit a 9 I wouldn’t ask for a 10.

It is a great comfort to have that level of assurance no matter where you are, and a team of like minded content creators have developed that kind of security for Second Life. Minnu, Thora, Emma and Siddean, better known as LeLutka/Celoe, Surf Co./Mon Tissu and SLink have combined their skills, as well as their customer base, and by polling as many as participated come up with “Standard Sizing” for Mesh.

This concept isn’t only for the customer though, it is an idea that if other stores take on this “Standard Sizing” option, will assure their customer base that what is made in Mesh will fit their avatars in the same way as other stores they shop in that also adopt the “Standard Sizing” options. The sizes are Extra Extra Small (XXS), Extra Small (XS), Small (S), Medium (M), and Large (L).

This made many of you exhale sharply I know, but this is where it gets interesting, and very very handy. First off as a customer, the “Standard Sizing” is a broad range of fits. The thing about Mesh and how it moves with your body, is that it actually does that more than just shifting with your movement. If you are 100 tall or 20, the same pair of pants will fit you to the exact same length on your body, and it is more than that, if you fit a size S (small) you could look completely different in shape than the girl next to you also buying an S (small). There are 78 Sliders that determine your shape – I counted – and only 8 of those have an effect on your shape for Mesh. All you have to do is try and see, I mean rather than throw your hands up and scream NO NO NO NO NO! give it a try, maybe the first things you tried didn’t work for you, but don’t give up trying Demos in stores that are making Mesh. Examples of how the same fit can have different shapes HERE , HERE and HERE

Now where it benefits content creators is many ways. The first one is learning. Mesh is new to so many content creators. You may or may not have made sculpts in the past, blender/maya – or whatever 3d application you use, may be new or not to you, but either way, when you open that program as small as the screen may be, that grid space can seem very very big when empty. By downloading the “Standard Sizing” Mesh Files, you will have a model to work off in 5 different shapes from the very start. No need to do everything off Ruth, or try and make your own. Not only is this a great starting point, but its a consistent one through all your products.

On a side note lol, if you use the models in your software, even if you do not make clothes, you have a much better reference. Say you make furniture, it is a great way to see where an avatars legs will bend for a sofa, or if you are making a building, how tall your average doorway should be based on heights, there are many things you can use them for as reference.

Back to clothing though, many are going to look at the slider numbers for the Standard Sizing and know immediately that items will not fit them, the most obvious will be if your breasts are much larger. Because once you have Mesh on and the Alpha layers, your bigger breasts will look smaller, and for some thats a no go. But consider this as a starting point and as a content creator think again of RL. In RL you don’t just have size 10 bras, you have 10a, 10b,10c and so on. So if you know for a fact that you have a large enough customer base that are loyal to your brand and also have larger breasts, you could still use the Standard Sizing, but add the a,b and c options. A tad more work yes, but you will be the one that decides if it is worth it to you or not.

Other than clothing, the Standard Sizing can also work for Shape Makers. Over the years many shape makers have included System Skirt Shapes, with the Standard Sizing shapes and numbers being available to all for free, this could be something that shape makers use to include in their products, that way also assuring new customers that the shape they choose will have the ability to shop in any of the “Standard Sizing” stores.

I hope you all consider this as it is intended, to help the grid and community as a whole. No one is trying to change you, I myself have taken my bum down by two to fit the new items and I am fine with that, it didn’t do anything to my overall look. Remember too that alpha layers will still play a major part in Mesh fit, so again don’t be so one minded about sizes and shape changes, just be open minded about trying Demos, it is fun and you can always do it in the privacy of your own home.

Also think about what this means for gifting, you will also be able to know that your best friend, partner, wife etc is a certain size in the Standard Sizing system, how easy is it going to be to make sure she is well fitted out in Mesh this Christmas.

So now for the info from the “Standard Sizing” team, because you are all dieing to check it out for yourselves I know. You can get the full perms kit and info pack at Standard Sizing on Marketplace and the Standard Sizing Avatar 3D Files here.

We are Minnu Palen & Thora Charron (of LeLutka), Siddean Munro (of SLink), Elie & Anouk Spot (of Mon Tissu) and Jaden Celoe & Shay Sibrian (of Celoe). With the rising popularity of rigged mesh clothing and accessories, we have discovered that it is difficult for shoppers to be sure that designers are creating mesh clothing in sizes that will suit their avatar shapes. Likewise, it is impossible for designers to know how to size their rigged mesh clothing because of the extremely wide range of shapes used in Second Life. In response, we have developed a solution: the Standard Sizing system. The following questions and answers will inform you about the details of this system and hopefully encourage designers to implement it and consumers to take advantage of it.

The following questions are answered below:

    – What is Standard Sizing?

    – What is the purpose of Standard Sizing?

    – How do you know the Standard-Sized shapes are accurate?

    – Where are XL and XXL?

    – Won’t we look like a bunch of clones if we’re all using the same 5 shapes?

    – Where can I get these shapes and how much do they cost?

    – What if my own personal avatar size doesn’t match one of the Standard Sizes?

    – I am a creator. How do I make use of the Standard-Sized shapes, and how do I let my customers know I am using Standard Sizing?

    – How do I let my customers know what Standard Sizing is?

    – I create and sell shapes. Can I use the Standard-Sized shapes as a base for shapes that I sell?

(At the very bottom you will find the Standard Sizing measurements.)

    – What is Standard Sizing? Standard Sizing is a system created to standardize avatar shapes so that rigged mesh clothing can be created to fit most adult human female avatars and so that consumers will be able to objectively identify their own avatar with one of the Standard Sizes, enabling them to comfortably purchase rigged mesh clothing and accessories. We have created a group of 5 shapes representing the 5 most common adult human female avatar sizes in Second Life: Extra Extra Small (XXS), Extra Small (XS), Small (S), Medium (M), and Large (L).

    – What is the purpose of Standard Sizing? Creators and shoppers would benefit greatly from having a common language to communicate about sizing of garments and accessories for avatars. As a consumer, you can determine which Standard Size is closest to your favorite shape and buy clothing in that size. As a creator, you can fit your designs to the Standard Sizes, guaranteeing that they will fit a wide range of customer shapes.

    – How do you know the Standard-Sized shapes are accurate? The numbers we used to create the 5 Standard-Sized shapes were calculated using the results of a survey of over 500 adult human female avatars. The survey information focused on the following measurements: Body Fat, Torso Muscle, Breast Size, Love Handles, Belly Size, Leg Muscle, Butt Size, and Saddle Bags. Because rigged mesh responds to variations in Heights (including Height, Torso Length, and Leg Length) and Widths (including Body Thickness, Shoulder Width, Hip Width, etc.) on its own, these measurements were not included in the survey.

    – Where are XL and XXL? Based on our survey results, very few users identify their avatar shapes as XL or XXL. Limiting our sizes to XXS-L should make for an easier transition into widespread use of the Standard Sizing system. If a designer wanted to create clothing larger than Standard L, they absolutely could.

    – Won’t we look like a bunch of clones if we’re all using the same 5 shapes? Being able to express your individual personality and style through a unique avatar is one of the foundations of Second Life. We do not want to limit that any more than is necessary to provide a basic reference point for avatar sizing. Of the dozens of measurements that make up each person’s shape, only 8 of them are relevant to each of the 5 Standard Sizes. Even those 8 can be tweaked and still fit that size. This allows a person to largely preserve their original shape, with the added benefit of knowing their Standard Size, and being able to shop comfortably for rigged mesh clothing.

    – Where can I get these shapes and how much do they cost? You can download all 5 of the Standard-Sized shapes for free from the Marketplace here: ( https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/100141 ). They are full permissions, so you are free to modify them or use the numbers as you please. However, note that making changes to the following measurements may compromise the way Standard-Sized rigged mesh garments fit you: Body Fat, Torso Muscle, Breast Size, Love Handles, Belly Size, Leg Muscle, Butt Size, & Saddle Bags (We recommend that these measurements be changed only slightly, if at all).

    – What if my own personal avatar size doesn’t match one of the Standard Sizes? Your shape will most likely fit into one of the Standard Size categories. Since all rigged mesh clothing will probably include alpha bases, minor size variations of the 8 measurements listed previously will be will hidden, along with any glitching due to posing or animating. If this is not the case, you may want to modify your shape so that clothing fitted for a Standard Size will also fit you.

    – I am a creator. How do I make use of the Standard-Sized shapes, and how do I let my customers know I am using Standard Sizing? You can download the 3d files here ( http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6003454/Standard%205%20sizes.zip ). Once you load the Standard-Sized shapes into your 3d programs, you can build your clothing around them. Included in your download is an icon that represents your use of Standard Sizing. You can display this icon in your store, on your vendors, in your blog, etc. Hopefully, as Standard Sizing becomes more widely used, this icon will be easily recognized in the Second Life community. You can also have your store listed in the directory of shops offering Standard Sizing by filling out the form under “Stores/Creators”, found here: http://bloggingsecondlife.wordpress.com/ . Be sure to check the boxes next to Standard Sizing and Mesh.

    – How do I let my customers know what Standard Sizing is? Feel free to distribute the information provided here any way you’d like!

    – I create and sell shapes. Can I use the Standard-Sized shapes as a base for shapes that I sell? Yes.

A directory of shops offering Standard Sizing can be found here: http://bloggingsecondlife.wordpress.com/?page_id=1363 If you have any questions or comments please join the in-world group “Standard Sizing System”. This is a discussion group for Standard Sizing issues where you’re free to voice any concerns or suggestions via chat.

Below you will find measurements for each of the 5 Standard-Sized shapes:

-XXS Body Fat: 0 Torso Muscle: 21 Breast Size: 32 Love Handles: 22 Belly Size: 0 Leg Muscle: 40 Butt Size: 24 Saddle Bags: 22

Wake me up before you GoGo

    Retro Tutti

    GoGo 1

    GoGo2

    GoGo 3

Wow I am on blogging fire…ok maybe not exactly fire, but still more posts in the past 24 hours than I have done in the last week or so lol. I was dragged back into WOW kicking and screaming internally, and finally after about a year leveled my Mage to 80…yeah I know, slow me. I just don’t really get WOW like others do, shooting stuff is a great stress release, but I totally do not understand doing all those occupations and stuff, spending weeks leveling it and making gold, when you can’t even buy shoes with it. Seriously I would rather spend that time in SL. Whimsy totally gets it though, seriously she is like the WOW wiki, but ask her what store we went to half an hour ago and BLANK!

She cracks me up so much, her and Mel both…yesterday they made me laugh so much I couldn’t breathe. I love my friends, and especially when we chatter in skype for the majority of the day, or when we don’t even talk, just stay in voice in companionable silence. It definitely makes it easier to do the day to day things you need to do. Now speaking of friends, the owner of Tutti Frutti is a wonderful girl, her creations as I have said in the past are always amazing in her use of prints. The reason for the background is also for her, because when I first made this texture for the Stock Images group, Bela asked to use it for her store walls, I was so happy. Anyway, rambling, so Bela and her prints are the perfect thing for a vintage fair, what with the retro fashions available. As soon as I saw these pieces on flickr I logged in to shoot them. For a start they are HOT HOT HOT, and then some. The names made me giggle as I just watched the Dewey Cox movie, and the whole ‘I have a song about an Octopus” part had me in stitches.

I didn’t wear all the pieces together as intended, but mixed her pieces up with some from other stores at the fair. The little cropped tied Tshirt from Essences is fabulous 80’s inspired fashion, and really a nice staple to have. Sassy is the store responsible for the wonderful Poet Shirt, very medieval inspired and a great modern take on the empire gown look. Lastly I rummaged in some sn@tch and found these great capris as part of the brigette set.  All finished off with the wonderful shoes from SLink. These shoes have no feet, I was shocked to my core j/k, but for those that aren’t feet fans, and there are some of you like that, these will be all oooo ahhhh for you. I especially like that from front on they almost look like ballet shoes.

Mesh hair is a wonderful thing, especially for those of us that pose a lot. The hair doesn’t go through your body, and these two vintage inspired victory styles by Alice Project are just great. I love that she also has faux bangs in that rock a billy look, so was able to add to both looks. Her texturing is fun too, the hairs are scripted to not just change colour, but to also give you the choice of streaks or dark or light tips, very cool and more bang for your buck.

Lastly a skin with a name many will recognise, well those that love a good cage dance anyways, this is the GoGo skin by Curio. Each make up has two options, one is milder, the other has either more lippy or darker eyeliner, both options are great, I love the very intense black liner looks too. So next time you find yourself in white knee high boots, climbing into a cage and feeling shagadelic baby, then make sure you look fab with GoGo.

    I I Captain

    I I Captain

So after the third TP between two stores, back and forth because of colour conflicts and what not, I gave in and just went with what I had. I love the Alphabet Challenge lots and lots, but when you already have shoes in a colour by every designer but the letter you are on, you get a bit growly and stuffs. But that is what nude is for right, when you don’t have colour you go beige lol.

Vintage Fair is in full swing, and everything I have seen has been marvelous. I fell instantly in love with the newness from Icing, but more so because of the other wear options that filled my mind immediately. First off I love that it has a swimsuit included, because it just makes it that much more girly girl. Then of course the top looks fantastic with pants or a different skirt altogether. It does come with an incredible full flexi skirt, but I opted for putting with another I store at the fair – Ingenue. Now this skirt is an oldie, but oh so gorgeous, I had it in other colours already, but had to dash over and grab it in the nautical blue. The other Nautical blue item at Ingenue at the actual Fair, is the new Lara skirt which is Mesh and I am loving the pencil skirts that are appearing all over the place, it is system skirt love without the stigma everyone seems to have with it, except for a chosen few of us.

I teamed up the new Ingenue with another I lol – seriously what is it with I’s and Vintage stores in SL ? Ivalde has created this stunning Miss Lemon Cardigan with such a cool big bow that has white and navy stripes, so I got to tie it all in. Then another Mesh item, the new Nina boots from Insolence, these are fabulous for a first Mesh item from this store, and Camilla told me she has been waiting for years for Mesh, so expect to see a lot more from Insolence in the future.

The stunning and very vintage influenced skin is by Idiosyncrasy creator Ashia Tomsen. The skin is Natasha, and the make up choices are gorgeous. The skins also come with dark and light brows and some incredible cleavage options. So make sure you try lots of Demos of these and the other skins from this store.

    H is for Heartsick

    H
    Another Vintage Fair ad :]
    MAP

Thank you Voshie Paine for your help today. I was totally having a brain meltdown for skins with H, and felt wretched about that. Not only do I know the store I did feature, but I also picked up their Vintage Fair skin which is just delightful as a theme, but also for anyday wear due to its lovely softness but still very sexy to wear as a dressed up skin. Seriously when your inventory runs wild, like mine has of late, it is a nightmare. Seriously lovely designers who I love love, please stop putting symbols in front of your store names on your vendors… it was so cute back when two of you were doing it to be at the top of peoples inventories :P, but when everyone does it, and with different ones, you end up passing the same letters over and over again and things end up whacky.

So this is my H post for the wonderful Alphabet Challenge, with a little bit of Vintage Fair goodness thrown in, that way you get a sneak peak at some of the goodies you can expect to see at this wonderful event. I was given a sneak peak last night and it truly is a great range of stores, some that are new to me, and of course the classics. One item I got and am showing I did modify to make it less of a tunic and more of a mini dress, which is still totally in keeping with the theme, so YAY me lol.

The Heartsick skin is Marilyn goodness, and seriously have you seen anything about the new Marilyn Monroe Movie that Michelle Williams is starring in, I saw some on Ellen and she looks amazing. As I said the skin is totally in theme, and has OMG so many options for one make up, I had to actually read the notecard on abbreviations just to see what was what, because even though I did guess right on one, I wanted to be double sure. Make sure you try the demos and also check out the other add on layers/tats you can pick up.

The tunic as I said has been lengthened just pulling down the bottom slowly so as not to stretch out the texture. It is fun and flirty and great colouring and print. It also was the right colour for my glasses from Hatpins, both available @ Vintage Fair. The layout is huge, and I worked out my own method as soon as I saw it all. I did each middle section as a circle, first one then the other, then went around the outside. Then wash, rinse repeat. Also the middle stores are along the sim border so you can shop on the opposite sim, if it is too full to actually enter, while you wait.

Ok so I had to do a big G right – Alphabet Challenge FTW , what with me being so behind I got to kill two birds with one stone. Whimsy is still trying to get her F on, and I had hoped to do G,H,I at once like the others I have done, but seriously 13 pics for one letter was probably enough. If you want to see closer, and you seriously should with the skins make ups being beautiful and the shoes combos so much fun, then just click them to see the originals at Flickr.

Ok so with the skins I have featured GLANCE, they released three new skins at once last month, and I am loving the make ups and the freshness and as usual incredible diversity of the faces. There is also an asian inspired one called Poly so be sure to take the time to get as many DEMOS as you can and try them for yourself.

Now the shoes/boots, it didn’t take much thought to know it would be all GOS, and as I said being behind meant I had a stash to show. The Storm Sandals are really great open toed ankle boot style, the first feet in shoes I believe for Gos. The HUD is pretty cool too, making tinting easy as I just hit one of the presets and I was away. Then you also have the all colours and then the option to style your own, seriously fat packing is all win with Gos because of these features, you can seriously design your own looks so easily and there are so many base colours to choose from, his palette is way impressive of late. The Wellingtons or Wellies as we call them are wicked cool too, they are mesh and rigged so they bend with your ankle as all good Wellies should. I especially like that they have a kind of modern take on the traditional look, sort of like an old Wellie had a foot affair with a Croc or something lol. They also have an awesome ability to mix and match, and I know that I am not exactly splashing around in the rain or snow, but a fashionista has to be prepared right.

For my looks I mixed up a bit from a few brands on the right, some G*field, Gawk! and Gizza for the clothing. The pants are so cute and shiny, they are actually part of a set Mel bought me on one of his crazy Marketplace sprees, and while the set as a whole wasn’t really my style I do like the pants. I realised I am lacking in the G department for hair, so ran over to Gritty Kitty and Gauze and grabbed both styles…never ever sad to have to buy new hair. What really made me happy was the Gawk! highwaisted panties and bodysuits, being able to combine perfect colours to go with the camo print of the shoes and then top it off with the perfect necklace from Glow Studio, I liked the name of it and sure enough perfect companion pieces, bloggers fate for sure.

I just realised that Willow and her Posse have gotten up to I while I have been slacking, so I better get back into it, and push that Whimsy Winx while I am there.

Have a great day all, and don’t forget Vintage Fair is COMING SOON.

    MAP

    It’s COMINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

I am so excited about the First Annual Vintage Fair. A fabulous team has worked really hard to put this together, and I am looking forward to seeing some of the designers that don’t usually do vintage items broadening their range to include it for this event. For more information on this event get on over to CHIC Management and get all the great news as it happens. Also join the group or subscribo as the builder Aya Liotta has sent out a texture kit so you can cache the builds textures prior to visiting, which should be a great help.

    See you there

So did you notice I was missing? It is ok if you didn’t, but my apologies that I am so far behind now, even more so than I already was. It doesn’t take long to get behind in SL, there is so much incredible content spilling out all over the place, every minute of everyday. I have to wonder sometimes, do designers count? their releases I mean, over an amount of time…and I often see them also apologising for not releasing for a while, but what is acceptable, when in RL designers do collections based on Seasons. I remember when many in SL used to do that. Are you old enough to remember when a designer could take months to release? there wasn’t this constant weekly update thing. I remember I used to ache for hair, physically ache, because it would be so many weeks sometimes months between releases. Back then you actually had time to wear everything you bought lol.

Looking forward to the weekend because someone would be having an event, so you would actually spend a day or so scouring the feed ( OMG there was but ONE only) also running to the SL forums for new release notifications ( they were huge back in the day) and finally finding a dress/gown that you were in love with. Where did the events go? people have more land these days, and seem to do less with it, how odd is that. Also all the clubs and their themes, seriously if you were a savvy designer you would release something in lace, leather and red or black or a combo of both, or even all on a Thursday and make a mint, oldbies should laugh at that, because it is so true.

Anyway I am rambling, two of the big releases this past few weeks is from Mon Tissu and Beetle Bones. Both stores have been embracing Mesh in a way that works for their stores really well. Mon Tissu is using a combo of both, some Mesh, some not and some a mix of both Mesh and system. Emma did a teaser ad for her new Heathrow boots which are rigged Mesh so they will move with your avatars bone structure. So when you bend at the ankle so do the boots. They are very cool flat boots, and had a sort of equestrian feel for me. I was delighted to try on the wool blend coat, and then even more so to realise that it has been constructed in such as a way as to wear without the bottom fuller part. Thank goodness for modify clothing or it would not have been possible, but now I have two looks from the one coat. Make sure you make a copy of the clothing layer and then edit in appearance mode to shorten it just enough to not be visible lower than the tie of the coat.

The coat was a great match to wear with the Beetle Bones Zolin Aztec shorts, these are Mesh also and are so cute. A wool knit so suitable for the rest of this season and the coming months. I wore them over the new leggings from Mon Tissu and really truly love the look, the coats, leggings and shorts come in so many colours so recreating in your own palette would be extra fun. I felt like a very well to do lady in this look, so added some fine jewelry from MOOD and this fantastic updo from MADDesigns, these are the hairstyles they created for the Modavia Fashion Week event, and there are so many amazing ones to choose from.

Second up another Beetle Bones/Mon Tissu combination. The system looking skirt is not at all, it is MESH MESH MESH and I LOVE LOVE LOVE. It is a pencil skirt with a draped like hip effect, but you really need to see it on to see how they mastered this so not to have to worry about fit per avatar. They have worked out that you don’t need to wrap the whole body in the Mesh, you just go try the demo and see – I am not going to give any more clues. The top is an over-sized Mesh tank by BB and you get either a solid – as worn – or a sheer version, again the draped loose look is fantastic BB really is leaps and bounding all over this Mesh business.

Lastly the gorgeous LBD is from Beetle Bones and has mixed Mesh with flexi to give it some extra POW effect. The great thing about the dress, is it too, like the coat has been created as two pieces, so if you want to you can wear the top or bottom with other things, the top would look fabulous with some pants, or perhaps another skirt, even perhaps an older gown skirt. The shoes are the Sloane pumps by Mon Tissu, adorable fringed pumps that are a more mature looking shoe, but a great style for ladies who wear heels often and for a long period of time, comfortable and stylish is key.

The skin I am wearing is Dainty by Gala Phoenix, the NEW Curio skin. A new face, with more of a softer look. Deep lips are needed on occasion but you get more of a lighter feel from the make ups. I really like the subtle dimples in the skin, as well as even without freckles version, there is a light smattering across the bridge of the nose. This skin could lend itself to a more ethnic appeal dependent on shape, so give it a try when you can.

All the poses used today are from PLOOM, you really need to check out the expanding range of poses now available over there, they are growing very fast.
