It’s a Panda-emic

It's a Panda-emic

You know when you just want to make yourself a little nosh and then all hell breaks loose, well that is what can happen if you have an infestation of adorable Red Pandas by Mutresse. These gorgeous animated critters come in various options, this hanging one is actually part of the breakfast tray with food and pose, I cannot imagine being able to resist sharing if this was to happen. They are part of the current Arcade event, which ends in just under a week, so be sure to head over and play a few spins.

With the chomping of greenery, it leads to a very floral theme for the post, with this very feminine top and shorts set by Mimikri I had a great canvas for my look, with touches of red added with these great pieces by Lode in the shape of these floral headphones and vase with flowers. Keeping up the red the Diana heels by Utopia Design are stunners, in a mule family they are strappy goodness with such great leatherwork and a sexy heel shape plunging to the floor. A strong straight heel like this is a must-have.

I had some of my hybrid hair fun today with the babyhairs hairbase by Izzie’s teamed up with one part of the Janelle hair by Tableau Vivant. The style is two parts generally and a great backcombed look, the centre parted front section is great, but I opted to not use it in this post as the hairbase worked so well on its own, and it gives me more flexibility on accessories. The two part hair makes it possible to resize the front section when worn to fit any heads and not need that part to be fitted, very smart thinking from over there at Tableau Vivant.

I got these glasses first pull of a Gacha machine at Mudskin while the girls were playing with skin demos. I was fortunate enough to be gifted this skin by Ashia when she got it multiple times from one of their previous skin releases, and it is just lovely.

The glasses pulled my whole look together, with my adorable Geek Chic combination of track pants and Tank. I am smitten by these pants, they are by Tee*fy and the leopard print is just wonderful, I also love that you have the added options to change the waist and cuffs to different colours so that I could tie it all in with my great tank by Miss Chelsea.

Garbaggio has these amazing runners at the SL16B event, and there are so many options of colours and combinations, it is staggering, the other times I have purchased shoes from them I spent the day changing colours every ten or so minutes just to say I did a whole fatpack – I am odd like that sometimes. The exciting thing is that they come in male and female sizes, so definitely must haves.

Another must-have in my opinion is this hair by Runaway, the other day I was wearing Zoe which I love to pieces and then when over there having a look around I found this style which is the down equivalent of Zoe, and I was so excited. I love following a theme for hair, and this has styling hud options and breast sizes and it just rocks my world.

If I timed this right this post should hit the stands just as Second Lifes Sweet 16th is open to the public. It opens at 10am SLT on the 20th of June 2019 and it is going to be an exciting event. The Hop & Shop as mentioned yesterday has gifts in every booth, and there are a hundred stores as part of this wonderful event. All booths also have discounted items, starting at 20% and going up as high as 75%.

The clothing and accessories worn in today’s post are all GIFTS at the event. Even my Slink Hourglass Bundle is discounted during the festivities as are the Physique Original Body Bundle and the Physique Male Bundle, the shoes I have on are the Slink gift for women at the event.

I have included pictures of all the booths, and you can see how amazing this event will be and how much time you will truly need to cover it all.

Second Life 16th Birthday Hop & Shop Event.gif

Also part of the SL16B celebrations is the reveal of the new Linden Homes theme. The theme is very different than the builds so far, and for those wanting to not just live somewhere but actually cohabitate these will be so much fun. I am already looking forward to immersing myself in these themes many opportunities for community development and role-playing scenarios. I can also see a full region of pink in the future because nothing will be more fun than getting all the neighbours on board with that idea.

Second Life 16th Birthday - Linden Homes Theme Reveal.gif

I ran into Patch Linden while he was going over the showcase area, and he was very pleased with the plans for these and other homes in the future. He also has a Meet & Greet planned for this coming Monday – Calendar of Events – so that he can answer questions about all things Linden Homes related. As this is just a rough layout keep in mind that the Moles are hard at work creating the final layouts of these new areas, and I cannot wait to see them finished. I actually saw the new Taylor Swift video a few hours after running into Patch and laughed hysterically at how just on point the Lindens are.

The Sweet 16 inspired theme of the overall event is throughout the many regions dedicated to it, and if you explore the exhibits done by many Second Life Residents it is fun to see their own take on this Retro vibe. Old Movie Theatres, Beach Party scenes and some very big statues, with bubbles and puppies and even a huge hydrant and cuffs dedicated to first responders. Take the time to visit all aspects of this great time of the year.

Second Life 16th Birthday Welcome area & Exhibits.gif

One of my favourite sections was the time capsule like build, with all the years’ history of Second Life gathered together. I won’t say I was not disappointed to not see ‘and along came Sasy Scarborough’ in the 2006 section but I did squeal with delight at Hair Fair being mentioned as that was also its very first year.

Another exciting thing that Patch told me was that the four new avatar looks at the Welcome area on the Pizazz region are for limited SL16B time only, so make sure you grab them as a memento of the visit.

Then when you zoom over to the Hop & Shop you can start collecting all the gifts and shop like a crazy person like I did, and look as fabulous as I feel right now.

Second Life – Sweet Sixteen – Shopping Event and More

Video provided by the organisers of this great event.SL16B_Logo_Final.png

Sixteen years and counting. With still so many familiar faces sharing the experience, Second Life is an incredible creation. While it has its ups and downs nothing will ever replace the absolute joy this virtual world has given to millions over the years.

On any given day you will find people sharing this grid with friends and family, meeting new people and discovering new things. I have never experienced anything as complex and as equally charming as Second Life and its people.

I myself, and hundreds of people I know and have known throughout the years often came into Second Life as just something to do, and they stayed acquiring knowledge and skills they could never have imagined. While just the shopping and existing curve are quite steep in SL, it is the creative side of things that just unlocks the doors into so many opportunities to advance. I for one – as novice as I am on most fronts – am just so very grateful to this platform for giving to me and to others such a valuable gift.

The Birthday Celebrations start on the 20th of June at 10am, and you will not want to miss out. Not only are there displays and experiences throughout the regions, but there is also a sneak peek of the newer Linden Homes soon to be launched. A great sounding Music Faire and some chances to meet some Lindens with some Town Hall meetings scheduled.

One of the large events is the Hop & Shop event that comprises of 100 stores with amazing discounts on all items included in their booth, and the booths are huge. The discounts start at 20% and I even saw a 75% sign. On top of the discounts, every store also has a gift item/s out for the taking and the few that showed the gifts, let me just say you will be needing to ice your mouse clicking finger after repetitive let me into the regions clicking. Do not despair though, they have made sure that there are plenty of regions allocated to the event, as well as camming regions on the ends. It is very well spaced out and easy to navigate, however, pack yourself a lunch and some snacks, and keep hydrated, you will be in for the long haul.

There are many familiar stores, and some even new to me, which is unusual, so I am very excited overall for this event, the layout is like a super mall, and it really did make me miss malls of the past, going to one region and having multiple stores to explore, even if then teleporting to their main.

I suggest derending all the people or setting to friends only which you can do in your menus. Turn down your draw distance as low as needed, but maybe at least 72 as 34 may be a bit short for such a big event.  I do my usual thing and keep the stores to my left side and just keep going, that way you are sure to hit all of them. Whimsy is more of a zig-zag lady.

You have until the 8th of July but do not forget to visit or at least space it out if you do not do everything at once, and trust me the discounts are epic.

I will be adding pictures once the event is live, as well as some images of new Linden Homes and some of the wonderful displays done by Residents at the celebrations, you will need to open up your next few weeks to get it all in, but so worth it.

Whimsy and I went to Coco the other day, it is a thing we often do, just have a need for some Coco. The store was laid out differently than the past, or I just tpd further outside than in. There is a discounted area, and two main newer sections, the second newer section we had not noticed in the past and had to catch up.

The discounted area was fun though, with most items being standard sizing still it can be a bit of trying things to see how they work, but I still left arms full. I grabbed this great lettermans jacket and hoodie combo, it also comes without the hoodie to wear over other clothing. I am wearing the medium and then with hiding all my parts underneath it is perfect, also because it is a bit bigger it fit incredibly well over my sporty overalls from Miss Chelsea that I have worn a lot since purchase – actually they are having a huge SALE at the moment so I need to head on over there again.

Keeping up with the sporty motif I knew my vale koer Harley sneakers were a match made, and then putting them on they were already set in the same colours, no work needed, but with the fatpack that I have you can mix up and arrange the colours as you like, makes them very cool runners to have, you can also turn off the upper ankle part, so its two styles of shoe in one.

I have been wearing this great hairstyle on and off for a week now, I love it, and with the hairbase by Izzie’s it is just a gorgeous look, it does have its own hairline included, but with differing shapes and so on having it be possible to turn off and wear your own base is just smart salon sense :)

The L’s have it

The L's Have it

I ramble on about Bloggers Fate often, today’s outfit came together seamlessly. I started the day tping to the first few stores on the FLF list and went into ANE and started trying on clothing, and picked up a few pieces. When I put this stunning lace frill top I knew that it would be amazing if it fit the gorgeous skirt I picked up at Vintage Fair the other day during early access, and sure enough it did, and in a perfect way.

Then I was thinking about how it would be neat if I had some kind of Victorian lace up knee high boots and when you think of boots, you really need to think of Utopia Designs… and I realised that the ankle spat boots that are even more Victorian looking than the knee highs I had originally sought were just waiting upon me to create this look.

Then follow that up with a notice letting me know that Exile has created new hair for Vintage Fair and I was top to bottom a complete package of awesome. This style is the perfect ‘wig’ style, and because of that I just had to splash in some unnatural colour. The style comes with two bangs options and because it is not rigged it can fit everyone. The textures are so soft and inviting, I feel fluffy.

It was only on doing up all the credits that I realised, that everything I am wearing starts with an L, where are those alphabet challenges when you need them, but then it would not have been so fortuitous.

Oldbies are now Vintage – Interview with Lexi Morgan

Oldbies-are-now-Vintage - Interview with Lexi Morgan

Over 12 years ago it was a sunny day in Second Life at the island of Hinode Shima, and a Blonde Bombshell in miniature landed at the landing point with the biggest shoes, the tiniest skirt and an amazing personality. Her name was and still is Lexi Morgan and I found out many things about her and her time spent in Second Life as a Creator, Landlord and participator in many Charity driven events that day, and wanted to catch up again and see if things have changed and if so how.

This time we did not get to sit by the seaside on Japanese seats across from each other, time-zones did not permit this time around on my side, but I am fortunate enough that Lexi took the time to answer my questions and that I am lucky enough to be able to jump into her IM box at anytime to get any additional information I may need.

I wanted to not only catch up with her, but also have her share a little insight into creating in Second Life for as long as she has. Unfortunately my first interview of her was with Appearance Mode a now closed Blog that was one of the first in Second Life back then. Even though she leans more now towards makeup she has definitely added so much flavour to this world over the years.

With this trip down memory lane for me, and with it being Vintage Fair starting soon, I decided that this post would be an homage to some of the oldest creators in Second Life who are still very much creating and contributing to the beautification of the grid. Elikapeka of Elikatira who has been creating hair for us since earlier than I have been here and some of my greatest shopping experiences were at ETD in the olden days. Sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve who has always been an incredible creator with amazing skins and clothing of various styles for many years, has only recently gone into mesh in a bigger way and her style has just carried over very well. While Swirly Cyclone is a newer content creator as such she has been adding fabulousness to SL since the dawn of time, and if you do not know that, you better learn it. These shoes are just the perfect companion pieces to this whole look, and they come in an option of white or cream accents so that you can mix and match with ease.  The make up I am wearing is all Stellar by name and look, and the adorable little star beauty spot does it for me and then some.

On to Lexi Morgan of Stellar

Sasy:  It has been over 12 years now since I last interviewed you about your time in Second Life, you were a region/sim owner, a Creator and very proactive in the everyday occurrences of the grid. What are some of the biggest changes you have experienced personally of your time here ?

Lexi:  First let me say that I can’t believe it’s been 12 years since the last interview. I still remember that day like it was yesterday!
I think for me personally, the thing that completely changed my SL was mesh. As much as I am amazed and thankful that it’s here, it came at a time when my RL changed tremendously and I fell behind with learning it. I was in SL much less and couldn’t catch up. I did end up learning how to mesh over time, but then I fell in love with creating cosmetics.. which I’m obsessed with in the real world. It was a perfect fit for me but very different from creating clothes. It’s been an adjustment for myself and my customers, but a pleasant one.

Sasy: You not only had your own store that did incredible clothing, but you also rented space to many other content creators over the years. Do you miss sharing space with other content creators in that way ?

Lexi: Even though I do not have my own sim anymore, I’ve always managed to have my main store on sims where there are other creators so I don’t really miss that aspect too much. I just recently moved my main store to Lo Lo, which has quite a few amazing brands there. Such a lovely space to share with them.

Sasy: Events play a big part in the shopping experience had by many now, in past times that was all done either in Mainstores or Malls, do you think that there is still a place for malls in the SL community or have events removed that need?

Lexi: Being the OG that I am, I really do miss Malls and shopping in them. They were so big years ago and I remember being in over 30 of them at once lol. Events are great but I’m so old school that I prefer main store shopping and releases which is what I primarily do myself. With that said, I am currently in no events.. but now that I’m finding more time for SL I am looking to get into a few good ones. I’m not against them at all …I just love main store releases more.

Sasy: You do still create but with the introduction of mesh and the like you create differently than you did in the past, as a more experienced texture based creator, are you excited about Bake on Mesh and what that may mean for older and newer content alike ?

Lexi: I think any change like Bake on Mesh is a positive one for creators and shoppers alike. I’m looking forward to seeing how the community reacts to it.

Sasy: Do you plan on recreating some of your older creations now that system layer (bake on mesh) clothing can be used with mesh body parts ?

Lexi: Sadly, I did lose a lot of my texture based clothing in a hard drive crash years ago but if i’m able to recreate or find some of the more popular items that i’ve made I am all for it! But like I said above, I think it will all be based on how the community reacts to it.

Sasy:
Over the years we have all seen some great collaborations between creators, if you had a choice of any SL creator older (even if no longer active) or current to collaborate with on an item, who would it be, and what would you want to do with them ?

Lexi: Oh wow.. I don’t even know where to start with this question lol. SO many amazing creators these days. I have collaborated with creator friends a lot in the past so I would probably go that route again.
Too many names pop into my head to name one in specific. I’m up for anything.

Sasy: If you could be a Linden for a Day, someone that could actually make a proper change to Second Life, what would you do with that power ?

Lexi: I think you probably know me well enough to know this about me already, but I truly enjoy helping people. I would help every new member in any way that I could by answering questions, buying them clothing, hair, shoes, skins, mesh body parts, makeup etc. Help them make an avatar that they love and explain how everything works. I’d help them so that they’d want to stay here and grow to love it as I have.

Sasy: As a content creator and SL resident for 15 years now, what advice would you give any newer resident that may want to start creating, and anything that you wish you had known early on that you learned along the way that you think really made a big change to how you did things ?

Lexi: Oh my …15 years! Thats a longggg time haha
One thing that I always tell my creator friends that come to me for advice (and every last one will vouch for this) : NEVER give up. If you love creating and enjoy your products.. keep at it. If something doesn’t sell like you had expected it to, it’s ok! Don’t get discouraged. It happens to all of us. Rome wasn’t built in a day. It takes time to develop a brand name that people will recognize. But frequent releases are a MUST. I 100% do believe that. If you’re not doing at least that, you’re not helping yourself as much as you could.
