Hair Fair 2009 & Flickr
Hair Fair 2009 is in full swing, and wow it has been a bumpy ride so far. At any given time during the weekend one or two of the Hair Fair sims was offline. Thank you so much to the Lindens for doing as much as they could to make sure that we were back up as soon as possible, because it was a very stressful time for them with thousands of regions in the redzone.
Also a big shout out to those at Beta technologies that have provided all four sims for Hair Fair this year at a cost to them, not only of the land but also by being awesome, and actually changing two of the sims to include Hair Fair in the title.
Hair Fair 2009 is from now until 4th of July, and with that in mind it is really important that the word is spread. This event has always showcased NEW Items only from talented hair creators all over the grid, but has always been about the fundraising aspect of it.
This year all money donated will go to Locks of love, and that money will pay for wigs that are made for children with hair loss due to illness.On July 3rd this year, and every year whichever day it falls on, Bandana Day is coming. Bandana Day is the day when we all remove our beautiful hair, and wear the modifited Bandanas that are for sale ONLY at Hair Fair , this and every year.
Bandana’s are at the landing points of each sim at Hair Fair 2009 and are only 50L each and transferable. These bandana’s as always are creative and fun, and a good collectible, that will be deleted once Hair Fair 2009 is over , don’t miss out on getting something someone made that you adore.
We have also added some flickr groups to the Hair Fair 2009 groups this year, please add pics to those as this is the way all year people find out about this event, and it works as a time line for past and future exciting events.
Hair Fair 2009 “Show us Your Hair” Group – This group is for all of those that have been blogging, taking snapshots, art pictures and everything else, that showcases the NEW Releases at this years Hair Fair.
Hair Fair/Bandana Day – This group is for people to upload their ads for their bandana’s they made this year, or years past (please specify if not this year) as well as snapshots of people wearing Bandanas at this years fair, on Bandana Day 2009, and other years past.
I have been shown pictures over the past three years from excited people participating, so this year we want everyone to share with each other.
Hair Fair Booths – A Group where creators or fans can show the booths of this year and years past that they enjoyed or built for Hair Fair, often these just get deleted after, we would love to keep a memory of them here.
Hair Fair 2009 Official Vendors Group – This group is for all the participants of this years fair to show their vendor ads, this way people can see exactly what hair belongs to what store and so on, and also be tempted by them :). This group is only for pictures submitted by the creators of the hair.
Thank you all, and remember it is open until July 4th and is a celebration of Hair and a worthwhile cause. So if you have already been, and it was over the weekend with sims going down left and right, make sure you come back when the sims settle, you can always keep an eye on the map (type Hair Fair in search) and see how many people are in each sim.

A few weeks ago I was talking with Aradia about her second life daughter, who I just think is too many shades of awesome. Chelsea I didn’t know also had a store inworld, one that catered to little angels like herself.
I was also told that a while ago Chelsea named a dress Sassy so off I went faster than a speeding bullet, and within moments I had a Sassy Dress. Now a very cool thing about the Second Life clothing templates, and the layers they are created in world on, is that they actually fit everyone.
So even though I am much bigger than Chelsea and her friends, and Meko who I couldn’t resist taking there to see, it was way too hard to not walk away with some goodies for myself.
The outfit on the left doesn’t come with that skirt but the combo is yum. As soon as I saw the brolly and wellies with matching hoodie I squeeled…and omg omg omg aside from the apples there is a pink poodle one too, but that would be far too much cute for the internet.
The dress is full and satin, with a big bow at the back , you also get those lovely shoes and ruffle socks, how perfect for when special occasion dress ups are the theme for the day.
Lastly just too cute to leave behind, and I am on the look out for a bucket and spade now, because a look like this means damp knees and sandcastles for sure.
The hair I am wearing is of course only available for now at Hair Fair, and I urge you to see them and really take a moment to look at the vendor ads for these styles, they are in my opinion art in themselves, and what inspired this post.
The creativity in world moves me everyday, but I have to admit that this actually caused me to tear up, the faces , the hair itself, and just the overall homeless orphans look about the whole thing, from an old movies kind of theme had me all choked up.
With that in mind, it was also not hard to go with the latest skins from our very talented blogger pal Ashia Tomsen…the one on the left is supposed to be a fight skin, and so looks that way when not dressed so adorably, but that hair is scrappy and fun, and all kids take a tumble now and then right.
I also love the scarred and scraped shin, mind you as a kid who had scrapes like that every other day – and I am such a girly girl too just accident prone – I don’t think I loved the idea back then lol…ouchies.
The other two are from her Doll collection, and even though porcelain dolls in RL freak me the hell out, I really like how cute the concept of this is, especially in world, and feeling broken these days its a win.

It seemed a shame not to go and follow up the stockings of yesterday, with the actual outfit they came from. Latex and lovely, this zippered combo is just hot. Having the perfect hair to wear with it was easy also, this was one of my first buys at Hair Fair this year and the name makes me think of that girl, which would make it a bit weird as I am the age to know more about her dad than her lol.
I am all for loving the final update to these skins too, I see the Forest for the tree’s or something like that. I think that if you have this much shiny on your body, you don’t need it on your make up, and the cats eye shadow and liner more than make up for it with their smoldering look.

The other day I was chatting with Arabella Steadham of Arabella’s Amblings, and was unable to draw my attention from her feet.The boots that she was wearing were just divine, and even more so once I found out that they had texture change options up to 6 different ones. Not only are they change, but it does it in individual parts, so that you are able to take it even further than the six and mix it up a little.
She has been wearing them on and off all week, so finally today I declared she had to take Whimsy Winx of Virtually Dressed and I to get some, and my usual awful pushy nature forced Whimsy to go against her pointed toes only rule, and get some too.
So then with us all in need of getting some blog posting done, and the fact that we have a mutual love for many similar things, we decided to all jump up on our VR Professional Posestands and have a great old time.
Now as this is a combined post, you will need to visit both girls blogs to find out the details of their outfits and bodyparts, and it is well worth the jumping about. It has been a hectic couple of months and now with Hair Fair in full swing, I hopefully will have time to share my purchases and incredible items at this years Hair Fair…but even if I do not get them all done before the end, at least you can always get them at their mains.
A few weeks back also I was all up into belts, I found some wonderful ones in my travels and this is just one of them. I love the cyberpunky look of it, and was so ecited to find that on click I could change the colour of the glowing liquid in the sides and the swirling parts at the front, making it a colour co-ordinating marvel. It has many incredible details to it, and Mel is very cautious of the spike attached to the back.
The clothing I am wearing is a combination of new and older releases from Miel, I already have shown the shorts in other colours in the past, and added the newer undertanks, as the girls were rocking out the others…but I do plan on showing those too in the future as I have been wearing them all over the place lately.
How much love I have for the stockings I am wearing, it was part of an outfit that is way hot, and I will show that in the future also, but for now you just get to see the delish large netted stockings, I am all about net stockings, and these ones are superb. I would really love this creator to do more of this style and sell them seperately as the seams are wonderful.
All of the hair we are wearing is of course only available at the moment at Hair Fair 2009, so far already they have raised nearly a million lindens for Locks of Love that is an incredible achievement when the grid has been so crazy today.

Hair Fair tips and tricks
Hi all,
It is Hair Fair time of the year, and it has been a wonderful few months of preparing this event for a a great cause. Hair Fair has always been a fantastic way to showcase the talent of hair creators from all over Second Life, this year there are well over a hundred stores set up and almost ready to show you their marvelous NEW styles for this year.
Yes Hair Fair is always about the NEW NEW NEW. A minimum of three styles, maximum of five, with onestyle donating a minimum of 50% to Locks of Love, the Charity of Choice for this years Hair Fair.
Some tips and tricks to help you with Hair Fair 2009.
The most exciting tip I have for you this year is one I use myself often when attending events such as this.
Get rid of the people
( you are there to shop, no one cares what you look like, and you definitely don’t care what they look like, so get rid of them, they truly will not care.)
Firstly lets prepare by pressing Ctrl + Alt + D all together and making sure that we have the advanced menu at the top of our screen. If you already have it, then lets move on.
Click on advanced, then click your mouse on Debug Settings. A small grey box will appear, once you have that open in the white section highlight this next part in red and copy it by pressing Ctrl CÂ RenderAvatarMaxVisible and then Ctrl V into that box in world.
Once that is either pasted in , or you can of course type it, it will say Maximum number of avatars visible…..yes this is the promised land.
Default is set to 35 , do you care about that many people shopping when there is hair to be had? I do not think so….take that bad boy down to 5 unless of course you are shopping with a group of more than 5 , but again your friends really don’t care when they have hair to buy too.
Be sure to remember you have done this when you leave, because you will need to put it back a bit higher lol. What it will do is select randomly avatars around you to show, those that are near you will fade in and out, it can be very tricky when you start hearing voices you dont see.
Un- Render those tree’s & other non hair related items.
Do you really even like Second Life tree’s ? if your hair is more important some things have to go. Back to advanced menu again. Once in advanced, click on Rendering and then click on Types. You will have to repeat this over and over until you are satisfied.
Tree’s don’t need them, Clouds don’t need them, water ? unless you are washing said hair? don’t need them. Cloudes and particles ? definitely do not need them.
Make sure you dont go crazy in that section, there are things you will need to keep on, such as alpha – or you will mess up your hair – and simple which can mess up everything.
Graphics : who needs pretty skies when you have pretty hair ?
Ctrl P will open up your preferences in an instant. Put your Quality and Performance slider to low, this will not help a lot but it will help if you are generally at high, mine is always set to mid, but it can’t hurt.
Click on custom box on the right hand side of the slider, this will open the graphics settings further.
Atmospheric Shaders and Water reflections HALLLLLOOOO HAIR, uncheck those.
Make sure your draw distance slider is on 64 thats as far left as it can go – do be aware that the Hair Fair is four sims joined that start at one and if you follow the chocolate road you will end up back where you started, so you do not need to see that far ahead.
Max Particle count , left as far as it will go, turn those off, you do not need bling at Hair Fair.
Mesh Detail, your objects slider needs to be high, so that you see your hair demos as well as you need to, but everything else can go down down down.
Make sure that Avatar Imposters is turned on with the check box, this means that any people around you you will not load at full capacity, again YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEE OTHERS.
Now about ARC , do not yell about peoples arc at Hair Fair or any other event, it is rude and bullying, not everyone reads blogs, not everyone reads english. Give people the benefit of just being at a charity event and care about yourself.
The other thing is that proven or not, running that application to see who’s arc is what is probably putting a strain on your own experience, so turn that crap off. The only thing you need to do is look at it before you go to the fair to be happy with your own count, if it means that much to you.
But here is a tip, NO PRIMs.
Find in your inventory clothing that is texture only,such as pants without prims and tops without prims. You do not need shoes, again no one cares about you, and seriously are you able to get a close and good look of your hair while staring at your shoes ? coz thats some skill right there that is.
Also really why are you bothering to even wear hair ? I often shop at hair stores bald, it’s a pain in the bum trying to find the hair I had on to put it back on to then replace it with yet another demo.
Do you really think that anyone cares if you are bald? other than to think you pretty much rock for making it easier on everyone.
Hair Fair is NOT like any other fair, and the lag is full on to say the least, but that is because unlike any other fair or event in second life, hundreds of people are attaching possibly scripted demos, with high alpha and flexi all at once, can you imagine what that is doing to the asset servers and the sim servers as well.
Other fairs do not have the same things going on with them as Hair Fair does, and you have to take that into consideration, all the booths have only the charity scripts and subscribos in their booths. They are using as many of the same exact sculpties as possible, as well as repeating the same textures over and over again.
The event lasts two weeks, it will end on the 4th of July, so please consider doing it in stages, maybe do a sim every day or even pick up demos from all the stores you can , and then return to just purchase later on.
Please note well that YES the hair will eventually be in the stores selling them, but during this event one wig from each designer is donating money to locks of love, that is incredibly generous of them, so if your own funds are limited, try buying those styles first, as it really is going to an excellent cause, nothing is worth more than helping a child.
Do not forget that Bandana Day is on the 3rd of July , were you can replace your hair to show you care. Bandanas are for sale ONLY at hair fair, and are 50L each and transferable. So buy lots and give them to friends, they are set up at the landing points for each sim, so that is a good way to deprim as well.

Cha Cha
Cha Cha Cha, ok only Cha Chaby Moonshine, but not even only. I’ve had this top waiting to be blogged for way too long, so here it seemed perfect especially in this setting to share it with you. The colours are fab and the two attachments give you the option of making it all one or a multi look.
Luck Inc Lowrise Capri jeans are smokin hot, and super sexy, the how low can you go music from Grease is spinning in my head right now, and the Cha Cha thing wasn’t even planned for that. The Lowrise Capris come in black, blue or dark blue denim, with retro screen printing and spray paint effects, or for the more subdued just plain, the tears and rips are great, but don’t expect to do a lot of sitting in these.
My footwear is a mix of the same designer, I am wearing The Caylla, and Maria by Ambra shoes in varying leathers, and whether heels or flats they are perfect for this look.
How fun is this pose ensemble, it is actually called Models Reunion, and I was able to of course take all the shots and layer to perfection with the VR Professional Posestand HUD, lock camera position and away you go, just as done with the face shots shown below.
I love hair, and as you know Hair Fair 2009 is days away, OMG I am so excited, and being on the comittee for my third year now has been awesome. I am going to try and be good this week, and prepare myself for the onslaught of fantastic hairstyles, but first I’m showing Samantha, Paris, Belle, Charming and Strippy by Magika .
June Skins as shown previously just got all degrees of Yummier, with new makeups added to the mix. Not only do you get the dark and light options, but also the freckles are superb. Also so exciting for this release is the NEW Bean tone, that is a darker skin that has been requested, if you have been looking for darker tones, and coveting the June skins, then get on over to Gala and try on all the Demos.

Run Forest Run
New Skins for you, a few weeks of love for me, I have been wearing Forest by Dutch Touch most of my days lately, and the Jade make up is wonderful, especially for a working day with its light lips, and fresh look. At the moment there are only 6 make ups as shown in the Forest Skins at Dutch Touch but excitedly more to come.
As you can see the bodies are as stand out and beautifully handdrawn as they have been in the past, hand drawing skins is such an incredible task, and Iki of Dutch Touch has it mastered, those Dutch know how to do the arty stuffs :P.
In a delightfully green mood, which ended up being totally fate, I decided to mix some BOOM into the picture. The recent release of the Summer Sarongs, made me think of a more grecian look, mixing it with dress pants and a bra, I came up with this look that I would easily go out in dancing with Mel, and actually I ended up doing just that.
The Summer Sarong was made for wearing over swimwear, and there are transparent ones you can also purchase, but this look for me is a win. The pants also from BOOM are the Fall Tweed pants. Beautiful and rich in this colour, and all the others I will eventually end up getting too, the tweed is just divine, and a classic staple.
The Green bra is from Dutch Touch and is one of the fabulous bra seperates available there, really pretty bras are a necessity. Adding the Army Green Hair Rose from Essentia and the Zamani Bangle from Uzuri, I am ready for a wonderful evening, ok technically its 4.48am but whatever its dark :P.
To show the fabulous body of the skin, I am wearing the BOOM Wild Girl Bikini in red, a lovely glossy high textured bikini, that comes on all layers, beautiful options for bottoms, and a lovely range of colours.
Now the Green Diamond you see above my head was a release that happened while I was taking these pics, REEK has released the item that all of the Sims fans are going to get a big kick out of. I having been a diehard fan before , it is called Plumbob and this beauty is scripted to change colour from green to red dependant on your moods, you can even add your own words as triggers, I love this, and I can see people standing around more in world having in depth typing convos just to watch their Plumbob’s change, at 99L grab one now.
The beautiful hair I am wearing is from Magika, the Samantha and Strippy hairstyles are both lovely, I love the large waves of Samantha as a reallty styled do.
The poses that I am using today are from LostAngels, they recently did a huge rebuild and relocation, and if you haven’t been to the new store you really need to check out the bunker style, it is so cool. They recently released a huge range of poses and furniture with poses for photography more than for just home settings, you really do need to visit and take some friends, because the scene set ups are fabulous.

Soiree – DeLa, Magika, Junwave
DeLa has released some newness, and with me being way behind with my posts lately… it was high time I got my wriggle on. I love when Kura says “I made new stuff” she is such an incredibly sweet girl, and so gentle always, both her and her sister Eitaro make me smile with the simplest of IM’s.
The latest release being the Anju tops and skirts, these are such lovely seperates that together turn into a beautiful dress, or different looks with the same pieces. My favourite thing about the Anju style is that it definitely has a drop waist 1920’s thing going on, a call back to very stylish fashion that seems to have a real influence on DeLa designs.
As you can see there are lovely ways to wear these pieces, and I have paired them up, with not only the Vicente/Camilla Jewelry from DeLa but also Madeline boots from the DeLa shoes range.
The second picture is the mix of the Chanel dresses also by DeLa, the Chanel Matinee on the left and the Chanel Soiree on the right. Both styles are appropriate for many occasions, the day time event into early evening supper look of the Matinee is just lovely, its a simple mod style that can look wonderful with a pair of boots as well.
The Chanel Soiree has a victorian appeal that can lend itself to steampunk or office, but also has a great feel for evening wear. The Chanel clutch is another beautiful piece from DeLa, the gold trim with satin bow adorning the feature fabric that matches the dresses themselves, attachments available for left or right hand, making it simple to accessorise.
Silvera heels and Blair boots are also from DeLa, and the button sides of the blair boots are totally in keeping with the style of Chanel Soiree.
Margarita time at DeLa in the form of their recent swimwear release, the lovely sarong draped around the hips is a great feature of this set, so too is the fact that it comes on all layers, and so many of them. There are sculpted ties on the back and sides of the swimwear, but also with the option of no prim ties, with the bows on the texture instead, having options like that is wonderful. The style is very crochet 70’s looking in that not as tight or as little look, which those of you born in the 70’s and earlier will remember well.
All of the hair I am wearing today is the rest of my fabulous trip to Junwave at Love Soul the other day, from top to bottom we have Casual Short (cut off ) Casual Short (Rough) Punk Girl and Spring Breeze, all lovely hairstyles ..note that they are not mod, but have the resizer script in them that DOES allow for individual prim movement.
All of the Skins I am wearing are from Magika, I have shown these in the past but didn’t get the chance to really show off enough of the make ups and bodies of these lovely skins. The Magika Day/Night skins vary slightly in tone, and have an lovely assortment of make ups, the body shading as you can see is beautiful, really worth checking out the DEMOS for yourself.

Your Help is Needed
This notecard was passed to me today by a good friend Nevar Lobo, many of you know Nevar from clothing fair and other RFL related events, he has gotten on board with an event on June 27th and is requesting your help.
I urge you to help in any way you can, this is something that I think is exactly why we are such an incredible community.
The Notecard Says :
Dear Designer :
As most people are unaware, I am disabled in RL and have come to SL to share my strength and mind with people in ways I can not do in RL . Today I found out about a really special event coming up on June 27th and they need our help.
The Style Enabled Modeling Agency has been asked to put on a fashion show for people with disabilities. This event is special because it is part of a 24 hour celebration for Helen Keller’s Birthday. The Group Virtual Helping Hands is working on spreading the word and education with in second life and has many many events planned for this day .
What is needed to help them:
They need designers who would like to show off their designs that would be easy to wear in a wheelchair or those who are visually impaired.
Keeping this in mind they need male and female clothing, shoes, hair and accessories . Some that are white or pale so they can be easily seen by the person wearing them and also with a tighter fit to the body so it won’t interfere with the cane or guide dog. Also, they need outfits that can be used in wheelchair. The ladies love to wear dresses at times… but as we know, some fall differently. They would need to have somethign that would fall with the legs not straight down into the wheels… Having multiple attachment points would also be good for them…as some chairs attach to the spine or to the pelvis.
If anyone would be intersted in helping with this, I would love to hear from you so i can direct you in the right direction. Models will be using guide dogs or white canes, models who are in wheelchairs or who have amputations, models who are able bodied, models who are male and female, and at least one model who is a furry in a wheelchair. We can provide you with a wheelchair, a guide dog, and white cane if you would like to design something special.
