I have had some interesting conversations this past few days, and a lot of it has been about New Residents.I turned 2 the other day, and as I have mentioned in the past, as have many others, a lot has changed in that two years in Phils Place.

We have grown to ginormous proportions, but one thing has changed noticeably, or perhaps actually without notice at all. Everything is FASTER! have you noticed that?. When I came in world, yes I was brought in and yes morphed within 30 minutes by my friend and his friends, but never felt inundated by that, just went with the flow, day two I was already settled where I planned on being and then took my time learning things, had helpful advice from the people that owned where I was, didn’t find out until I was already too old that Gurl 6 had her free hair deal, but had money and already had by then bought lots of hair – lol so I thought at the time – so just shopped there happy to find more.

Had sooo many freebies from places that used to pack them all into one box and spent hours every day unpacking at my leisure and oooing and ahhhing over my treasures. I remember my first lesson on uploading a picture and making a prim and thinking that my semi transparent luis royo print with water animation added was the best thing since sliced bread.

But now its, omg did you get the skins from Adam n Eve?, and did you go to Fleur yet?, you have to mod your shape?, and learn this? ,do that know this?, go there. I mean half the grid of females can all probably admit to wearing the Passport Malibu skin by Starley for at least a month if not more when they started out, and everyone was happy.

We used to joke about shopping more than any amount of events could possibly happen to wear them all to, but now thats quadrupled in volume – don’t get me wrong I’m all for shopping. Thing is now there are so many more events, Openings, Hunts , Fundraisers, Promotions, Pageants, Fashion Shows and so many other occasions that happen constantly.

It’s getting exhausting just trying to work them all into some kind of order, never mind actually attending them, and if they conflict OMG which do you go to, or can you go to both if enough time overlaps.I know how hard it is for myself and many others that have been in world for an extended period of time, we know what we can manage and if we work or own businesses, we know that we cant spread ourselves that thin.

But New people don’t, they get this crazy fast tracked explanation of what Phils Place is all about, when we are convinced we are helping, and yes we are in a way, but to what point, yes I know myself I have my folder ready to pass on and say ok here is all these landmarks no go get all that stuff so you can look a certain way and then have fun. I realised though last night I dont tend to tell them to do that folder at a slow pace, that they have a month for some and a few weeks for others to obtain the goodies.

We used to tell people to go to sandboxes and learn how to unpack things and try on things and spend time learning the basics, I can’t remember the last time I taught anyone to unpack a box.I know that a lot of my dealings with new Residents is when they are trying to get their first hair etc, and so I do teach them some basics when going through those points, but it amazes me daily when dealing with even older residents as in at least 6 months old, that they don’t know where to find transaction information , the way Phils Place is lately that is something you MUST KNOW!.

I found torleys tutorials at the end of last year early this year, not sure when its all a blur, but it blew my mind that I didn’t know about them, and yes they might not be what everyone needs to watch but why the hell isn’t that on the front page of the website?, there are valuable bits of info in them, why don’t they have those tips and tricks right at the start?.

Also recently I had a girl spam our group, I IM’d her informed her that what she had done will not be tolerated again etc etc, when I spoke to her she was mortified, her reason to do so wasn’t to spam it was to share, the people that owned the store she spammed the slurl to had treated her so nicely in her first few days in world that she thought she would let people know of their business, so cute and I actually really believed her… she felt so bad that she may have ruined their reputation she was going to write them a note card saying what she had done and apologise.

Believe me I dont for a second believe all are doing it for that reason, but how many get promises of money or products to do that and don’t actually realise its not just advertising, I mean person A says to New Person B ‘I will pay you to send messages to other residents using these steps ” I mean how would a new person really know that thats not a process in Phils Place like mail box brochures in RL. I would think it would make a lot of sense when looking at it from the terms of ‘ Yeah the Mothership only gives us 25 groups and I cant send notices to all that need to know the info because of those limits, so if you join 25 or even swap them over and send my notices for me I will pay you ” sounds normal to me, but it isn’t .

Bigger groups are having to pay for subscribe-o-matics to stop the constant spamming, and for the most part those people are always new to Phils Place. Also with all the failed deliveries and stale transactions of late, so many businesses are constantly trying to keep up with customer issues and never actually have time to create as much as they want to.

Thats the other thing that New Residents dont understand until a long enough amount of time in Phils Place, the fact that the Mothership has issues daily… it is not some crazy scam that designers are orchestrating to part them with their moola, but actual technical difficulties, and when people are New they tend to only associate with other New people, so that info doesn’t get passed on too easily either. I don’t know what my actual reason for this post is, other than we need to step back a bit, slow down, something that will level out the status quo or something.

I almost wrote a post a few weeks back, that was going to be titled ‘I hate Designers in Seclusion’ oh lordy that would have been interesting to watch see people take it all wrong, the idea of the post was going to be based on the fact that many designers are more than just group members, they really are cut off from everything, trying so hard to create and manage their businesses, and at what cost?.

Phils Place is the only 24/7 operating 365 days a year industry that I know of, it may be virtual but the computers don’t work the people do, and they work hard. Every single day Designers and Creators and Staff log on and deal with what has occurred in the time that they may have taken a few hours sleep, or had to drive the kids to school or in a lot of cases, work their full time RL jobs.

But that doesnt stop Phils Place or even slow it down, I have seen many comments and heard general chat about the Hunts and Shows and all those other things that are pulling and stretching everyone so thinly, and I thought WHY ?. Why do we have to get something from Designers constantly to appreciate their talent etc.

I want a different event, I want a HUNT A DESIGNER! I want an INTERNATIONAL DESIGNER APPRECIATION WEEK! like a huge Phils Place wide event where every single Designer/ Creator has a sign up in their stores stating what days and times they can be in their store for a meet and greet . A few weeks back Digit and I had to go set up in the middle of an event at a sim she has a store at, and people that arrived at the store nearly peed their pants that she was there , in person. It was seriously adorable.

They were oooing and aaaaing over her and telling her how much they loved her designs, and how they found her store way back when, and how their special moment was in one of her creations etc etc, and thats not the first time I have seen that happen with designers. People of Phils Place honestly adore meeting the people that create their inventory, last year prior to hair fair I had to take pics of all the Hair Designers, over 50 designers at my house one at a time, I WAS IN HAIR ADDICTS HEAVEN.

Not only did I get to meet some incredible people, but some brought their partners along too and I was in more heaven as many have creative partners as well, lol – if they only knew how excited I was, its amazing I got any pics taken at all. I remember once being tpd to a lucky chair thing at Calla and Sylfie Minogue tpd in, I actually “OMG its Sylfie ” ‘d into open chat, poor woman, I probably freaked her out lol. That also would happen a lot when designers are shopping I am sure, but if the events were in their own stores or land, in their own Meet and Greet environment IT WOULD ROCK !.

Imagine the themes too, I mean Antonia could have a sock hop at Artilleri, or even a clam bake and we can all dress as Gidget and Moondoggy – Omg I loved him so bad. Sachi could have a ladies luncheon or high tea – she is British after all :P. Six could have a Pyjama Party and we could brush each others hair *giggles*.

I dont know I completely went from one thing to another, but I would just love us all to SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Down and do some events where there is nothing to gain but experience, getting to appreciate the content creators that really enrich our lives, and also to hear experiences of their own Phils Place lives, In my years here I have heard many stories of how one designer started out because they were so inspired by another and so on.I also know that many designers are inspired by their customers for one reason or another, whether its by a nice notecard sent to them when they were starting out, or just the fact that every time they release something that person is the first to tp in. But often due to other things going on Designers dont get to spend quality time talking to people that they would love to take a few moments to talk to.

Also not only do content creators have to do this, but also all the other industries, the fashion show people, the modeling agencies, EVERYONE that provides a Service – hee hee at my Have To :P.

Hell each event could be STORY TIME at Phils Place lol. No one take this as me saying that all those other events are bad, they arent, they keep Phils Place lively and are also wonderful ways to meet wonderful people, and lots of people put incredible amounts of time into throwing them. Anyway thats my rant/thunk of the day.

When I was 16 there was the release of a Fragrance in RL called Lou Lou, now for some reason – and I have no idea why- House of Nyla has always reminded me of that fragrance, and those ‘Have you seen Lou Lou ” commercials.

There is always something so desirible about House of Nyla releases, I think that a lot of that comes from knowing these are items that are in the real world too, because of the incredible talent that Nyla Cheeky has for creating such incredible pieces, that she then goes on to share with us here.

I guess thats where the Lou Lou comes into it, for many of us House of Nyla RL are pineworthy creations, items we can only dream of having and dream more about actually having places to wear them. But in Phils Place we can have both, we are blessed.

There’s also something fabulous in knowing that the creator of such heavenly pieces dresses celebrities in RL too, not only do House of Nyla designs ‘look’ made for superstars, they are.

The latest release Red Dragon Gown, is something that was designed for a special event RL, a wedding for an Independent Film Director, more info HERE. When you read her own description of what went into the creation of this incredible gown, you really get a glimpse of Nyla herself, she puts everything into her creations…but the most evident is her heart.

I remember when she worked on a dress for the actress from one of the Terminator Movies for a red carpet event, she spent days and nights hand beading the incredible dress, she didn’t get much sleep if any over those days, working her fingers to the bone to have it done on time. Then without much of a rest in between, recreating it for us to share.

Though this one doesn’t have that same kind of beading it is hand embroidered so again would have taken so many hours of intricate work, its a breathtaking piece and when you take into account all the little additions that Nyla did to make it even more personalised for the couples special day, there is more of it to love.

With the gown you have the incredible gathered silk skirt with drapes of gold and red, then the incredible corset itself that can be worn without the skirt with other gown skirts or on its own with the stunning lace panties, Nyla does wonderful Lingerie also.

Then there are the shoes, incredible beaded mules that would make anyone feel like a Princess, again more incredible labors of love.

I am wearing the Polly updo from TRUTH and the PopFuzz Skin Tan – ♥ Cupcakes Sanguine, adorning my ears and neck are the wonderful Casablanca set in Gold from Essentia.

A month or so ago Onyx Leshelle of Maitreya told me that she was redoing her textures for her wonderful hair. My response of course was NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, but when she gave me a sneak peak at the newness to come that changed to a panting yes yes yes.

Well today they have been unveiled and OMG the hair textures on the NEW styles are just fantastic and whats more incredible is how superb they look on the older styles, giving them a big lift and the hair was already in my opinion fantastic, so now thats super duper fantastic.

The jam hoodies have always been a classic style hiding under the fabulous sculpted hoods and wow they look incredible in the new textures and the hoodies with hair have all been updated so go forth and get your new hoods.

Mayte is a NEW release and the bangs on this are incredible, I love the razor style cut at the back, giving it a layered shaggy look.

Loelle is a retextured older style and again the new textures really bring out a richness to the long straight style, Onyx does fabulous straight hair.

River is again older but the new Reds in the new textures are just so beautiful, if you try and keep true to natural red in Phils Place then the New Textures Copper and Autumn are ones you will Have to Have.

Sophie is in my opinion the style that really started the big love for Maitreya hair, it got so much recognition when it was released as a wonderful all round style, going from casual to formal with ease and still today holds to that.

Sunday is the other New Release style and with its shaggy razor cut, with a shorter length and really long bangs this definitely makes an impression.

Now not all the styles have been redone yet , so what does that mean for you, a SALE yes all older styles that haven’t been retextured are reduced to 75L so take advantage of those reductions, but in all honesty you will want the new textures so bad lol.

There are also demos of the hair textures at the sides to the hair sections so make sure and grab those and fall in love like I did.

The wheelies fundraiser ended last night in the form of the items being sold around the grid, Id like to thank everyone for their generosity from designers to shoppers and people that spread the word.

The concert Dove organised on Monday was fantastic and if you all get a chance to stop by Wheelies you will see how incredible the place already looks.

I also wanted to thank Washu Zebrastripe from HairSpray who arranged with Polgara to donate her excess land usage tier to the Wheelies group, that was a very generous donation that will keep going. It also made me realise that during hair fair meetings last year around this time Hair Spray was setting up, so I either missed it or its coming up their One Year Anniversary, either way CONGRATULATIONS!.

We raised from our end L$81209 and thats not even including all the wonderful donations that were sent directly to Wheelies, One incredible lady donated 60K herself thank you so much for that as well as every other donation that has occurred in the past week and any that have happened in the past.

With this generosity from all Wheelies will be able to do more incredible things, so again thank you all.

Ok I dont know if the thought of that is exciting to anyone else, but if you know Feri Beckenbauer the idea of pouring some gravy over him is kind of funny -ok its possibly only me.

Lets put Feri aside for a moment and take a moment to thank God that Old Gravy is back, because I for one am overjoyed that a whole folder of incredible hair can be worn again guilt free.

Katy Angel of Lavish Style sent me her two latest sets, and until yesterday I didn’t get the opportunity to pull them out and have a closer look, and they are both just fabulous. They totaly inspired a different look than I usually go for, but had all the pieces to do – which kind of contradicts that first statement I guess.

Lady Goth is the first set, it has lots of lovely pieces to the set, The detailing is wonderful and the use of sheer and ribbon lacing effects give it a sense of lingerie style, but as you can see with the right pieces you can definitely rock it out.

The corset top is wonderful as I said with its sheer texture and the laces, but then my favourite parts are the armbands and the crossover straps at the front. The upper part to this set kept leading me to believe I was inked up, and definitely has a don’t mess with me kind of feel to it.

The option of flexi mini, or the flexi mini topped with sheer long skirt are both great options and its what gives it so much versatility, as well as the adorable hotpants. As the set inspired some serious TUDE’ I went with the Beckenbauer Productions Chantal Rose Elikapeka boots , wonder if you can guess who those are named after lol, I love Feri’s boots they are always like my happy boots , I just clump around in them and feel all goodly.

The hair is the Acid Aeri hair which I havent ever worn in a post before as its so awesome you would all cry you couldnt get it, but now you can with the much anticipated return of Old Gravy, I went by to see if I could find anything New last night but its still under construction , but if you cam in 😛 the hair I already have is already set for sale and knowing how Old Gravy can be that under construction sign will probably stay there forever lol just to prove what lengths we will go to to get hair lol.
The next set is the Night Whisper set by Lavish Style and there is a great amount of loving for this style.

The top is like incredible chainmalle at the bottom and the lovely silvery breast covering portion of the top has such great shading and gathering it really is top notch work – I really want a gown like that now lol.

You have two options again for skirts, first off the static super mini, that is just great for all AO’s , and then the flexi skirt with just a little more length but not much.

The stockings and gloves on this set are an incredible laced up effect, again incredible work, that would not be an easy achievement to create, and you know that you will get lots of options to pull them out and wear them with other combos , you also have the adorable hotpants and there are panties too but lost those somehow – no not that way dirty minded you .

The hair is TRASH , by Old Gravy , when this was released I raced right over to get it, that was at least 3 builds ago, in my time in Phils Place since I found Old Gravy there have been 6 this new one will be the 7th as far as my recollection goes lol.

Just goes to show Oldies are always goodies, this style always made me think of peroxide and heating wand torture, that you have done so much damage to your hair with chemicals and other manipulating tools that thats the look you end up with , isn’t it just FAB!.

Feri saved the day again with the wonderful Silver Flame Oi! boots , from Beckenbauer Productions with their as named silver flames up the sides and the fronts of these boots they are perfect for this set and overall look, not too flaming and not too out there , just a nice subtle hint of silver to the already fabulous boots.

The skin I am wearing is again the Arcane skin from TRUTH but in the Ghost tone Ruby Vivid Make Up, as I truly love this tone for Goth without looking like someone painted you with liquid paper.

Lavish style has so many incredible sets like these two from all ranges of looks lingerie to casual to formal so go and take a look asap.

When Kuranosuke Kamachi of Dela passed me the New Kate dresses, all i could think about was the beach.

Especially when I put on the long leggings underneath this wonderful dress, as it just makes me think of swim wear of the early part of last century.

The thing about that though is that it makes for an interesting canvas for an overall resort style look. If resorts aren’t your thing, then think Monte Carlo.

So once I had that thought in my head it was all about looking as though I had not a care in the world, and that my only plans were making the most of the day and the transition socially into the night.

I wanted to also show off my new Reptile Sunglasses from Artilleri and the wonderful carpark sale that is on at the moment – when you get to the main store there is a sign to click for the LM to the SALE but it is just around the corner if you feel like the stroll.

Kuranosuke likes using bold prints and colours in her work, and somehow she always makes them look extremely elegant. This dress is no exception, you can make it playful looking, but with a few accessories and some stylish hair you have glam. The cuff bangles that match the Kate dress come with so you are already half way there.

It actualy took me the whole time taking pics to realise that the hair I decided was the perfect look I was going for was also called Kate from Dernier Cri – and yes I finally dyed my second batch, its hard to go from the fabulous blonde but decided that that style needed to be shown off in a rich brunette.

The skin is the Latte tone in Disco make-up by Arcane based inside TRUTH, as I said when I originally posted this skin , it has a definite healthy look to it that I love. All of the wonderful footwear is also by Dela, the wonderful ankle boots called Devon, the Namid sandals with texture change gemstones in the Gold , and the Thaelle Heels without the ankle ribbons – its wonderful having two looks for one shoe.

The Byzantine Choker Chain is by Essentia and the linking for this chain is totally true to the RL link work that has made Byzantine a very popular style, and one I wear often. So if your day is needing that little glam lift then saunter on over to Dela and grab Kate for a day out.

I am writing this with great difficulty as I feel I have caused more harm than I would ever have wanted to do. The other day I watched a movie on YouTube and it moved me, moved me enough to want to visit one of the places mentioned in it.
When I arrived I saw that the place was very different than the one shown in the film, I hadn’t full rezzed but just the initial outline of the room was different, so I opened search again to make sure I had in fact TP’d to the correct place.

I saw that in search it said temporary location and finally rezzed to see the fountain to support the place-like many many clubs and places that have tip jars to raise tier etc- I put money in and was still camming around the building wondering what or why it was changed.

One of the people involved in wheelies tpd in and she and I spoke, problem was my first thought straight off was what can I do to help them get back to what i had seen, the lady told me that they were having a fundraiser on Sunday this week, and that money raised from that would go towards their efforts to rebuild.
I got all excited at that, and knowing that I have so many generous friends and know of so many incredibly generous people, I told her that I would love to try and get some people to help more – she was I think very surprised at that ,I don’t begin to guess her thoughts but since dealing with the lady that donates the use of her land to them already, all I have heard has been excitement over how incredible the people I contacted have been.

But see they don’t have experience with the second life I experience every day, they have their own second lives and their focus when in world is wheelies.

Thing is that they aren’t a charity, I myself put that word in the note card referring to the fountain, but at no other time that I am aware did I say it was so , it isn’t, and I knew that; but my head wrapped strangely around the note card and I was negligent in not rereading it to make sure it didn’t say that or wasn’t misrepresented.

That is not their fault that I did that, this also isn’t their fault that some crazy girl got all weepy watching YouTube and like a dog with a bone went a bit nuts. For some odd reason everyone thinks my motivation behind this is Wheelies itself , its actually not, my motivation was seeing a lady on a screen share that one place in Sl makes her feel at home, somewhere that her few hours a day she has after work in RL keeps her in touch with her friends in SL, somewhere that isn’t hard to navigate around because she wishes for the most part to stay in a wheelchair like she is in RL.

You see when I went to the club, its one large round room, with seating off to the sides, and above the DJ area there is a sign to click for seated dances, has anyone ever seen those elsewhere in SL ? I hadnt.
So not only was the temporary location wheelchair accessible for maneuverability, but the dancing catered to those that were in chairs, that again moved me.
Behind the DJ area was a calender, a board that stated what event happened each day; and not only was there nights of DJ’s, but there was a night for story telling and one night a week for discussions, again Moved.

When I was in yahoo I was part of a discussion group, a place people came to every day and a topic was chosen relative to the group and talked about, some heated things would come up lol but allot of the time people really gained understanding and sometimes really felt they had been heard and helped.

In RL when I came to SL – well I was actually dragged by a friend from Yahoo- who knew that if I didn’t come here would drown; and I was.
I landed in SL and saw different things through very closed eyes, but came across a sim that I was so welcomed at I stayed, that was fear.
I actually didn’t leave that sim for a long time, you see one thing I am very good at is faking myself, that might seem an odd thing to say but its about having lost yourself and remembering what you are, and what you have done, and re-enacting it every day to survive.

Because of the people of the sim I was at and their caring and support to me, letting me feel I was helping them help others at their place, I started to forget to fake it and just was.

The most amazing thing to me one day about a month in was that the owner of the sim came to me and said that he was building me a sky box in the sky, and letting me have a 100 prims to use how I wanted to furnish it.
I was overwhelmed. I knew by then how important prims were to a person that needed all of them to run their business, and that he had worked out a way for me to have a home in SL was just incredible.
No more changing clothes on abandoned rooftops in fear of being seen naked – yes I associate far too much with my avatar- somewhere to actually invite new and my older friend too, to just sit and talk without other people walking into the convo- back then I tended to talk too much about too much in open chat- that was all precious to me, but more so that the person had given me those things and the trust to use them respectfully.

Every day those first few months in SL I went back to being more me, more me in SL than I could be in RL right now .. people came every day to sit by the fire and talk, unload their worries and concerns about RL and SL, to just have a space where they weren’t intimidated and there was no other agenda, no sploders and no Best In such and such going on, do you remember SL 2 years ago ?
Maybe I didn’t explore enough as I did end up working full time there managing their mall rentals, and then eventually moved on to Manage a store.
But even then when I moved on to House of Zen the island that they created was also a place like that, we had many people just pop in, not to shop always but to just come and chat , the owners didn’t care they didn’t spend money, they liked the fact that my friends and our customers would turn into friends of not just us, but the island.

Again I had a home; and yes it was part of my pay, but it was more important to me than that. I worked out a way to have a premium account, that actually came from realising that if I wanted spending money, before my job at Hoz I would have to buy lindens, and when back then you had to do a minimum of 25usd for me that was closer to 40.00 and unfortunately when you bring it in you spend it. Realising that for me being a premium would give me an allowance weekly I chose that option, couldn’t really afford to but it was cheaper than the alternative.

Many others don’t have either option, and many will say that if they can afford a pc and internet etc that they should. Thats looking at the internet and pc as a luxury item; and in a sense I guess it is, but for some and probably many its an only communication option, if I had to choose between a telephone and the internet , the internet would win hands down.

Ok I am rambling as usual, but you see; ok maybe it is for me about wheelies the place, because to me without places like wheelies, people like me who were so in need of SL at the time but so fearful of people and not being able to cope with clicque’s and possibly intruding on others; wont have a place to go to.

It takes time to adapt to SL for most people regardless of their RL and skills etc, it takes time to learn where the wonderful places are, and that everything here isn’t about blue and pink balls or shooting things up. It takes time to learn how to deruth and not save changes when you are. Every day I encounter New Residents that tell me ‘Sorry I’m Stupid, I’m New’ it makes my heart lurch to my throat, that anyone feels that way even for an instant upsets me when its not them at all, but the intricacies of the place.

But when you are hesitant about taking a leap into something that is so intense in the first place, you do need a place that you can breathe.When I found that first place it was by searching in places using a keyword that led me there, and I was lucky to have found it. I think that I have probably told hundreds of people that were new to do the same, to use search places and type in a word that they have as a hobby or something they have an interest in RL or haven’t ever had the opportunity to experience in RL, like a trip to Paris or Skydiving. I think that maybe when some people that found wheelies typed in whatever they did they found that place, and its because they had that need for it.

The Texas Uni at Austin were helping them with a fundraiser , again I think that they were approached and offered this event, this is not wheelies going around with their hands out, this was my over eager to help actions that have possibly caused a negative approach to a worthwhile place.

They have said they want to eventually offer spaces to live for people that are in their group, and that also seems to have been taken way out of context too. As I shared my experience above, all I took from that is letting people have a spot of land that is theirs to be in, clean their inventory in peace, put pretty furniture down they may not be able to have in RL , it might be a place they just go to for peace, its amazing to me all the time how calming it is to rez a zafu meditation pillow and sit and watch my avatar do the Ommmmmm thing.

Many sims in SL are owned by people that let their friends and loved ones have space, set up a prim house and chill out at. Some people charge rent to people , some people have given whole sims away to people because they know they will put them to good use, some let them have stores for free to create a community; all of that happens all over the place and yet somehow wheelies wanting to have a community space has become a bad thing ?.

I will not and refuse to see that as someone asking for handouts, or throwing a pity party for people that may or may not have some restriction in RL that others don’t have, I have never thought of being in a wheelchair as a disability or inability to do incredible things, there are so many reasons some people may have restrictions on physical abilities whether it be a health or mental issue is their business; and something they have to live with each day. But wanting to build an environment that is accessible to all – and yes that is the main reason they want a bigger space eventually ACCESS for chairs – is not something that should be tainted.

I made an error a big one, I wanted to help them get what I felt they deserved, I never thought they deserved it because they happen to be in chairs or not, I felt they deserved it because they provide a safe and friendly environment for those that need it.

Whether you believe that people shouldn’t accept help or not, or whether you think that people with restrictions should stand on their own and earn it, is kind of besides the point. No one said they weren’t, until now they have; and unfortunately hit a rough patch.
I just wanted to show that there were such kind people all over SL, that if I asked may or may not choose to help , thats also the thing the majority of my contacts with others were my friends list, yes I made a kit and got a script together , yes I asked others to jump on board; but at no time did I expect them to feel obligated to, did I know they would ? sure, I have that faith in my second life surroundings, did I expect to hurt anyone NO, do I regret that I did DEFINITELY , but more so I am so very sorry that because of my wanting to help, that I may in fact have sullied Wheelies reputation with people that might not have ever heard of them before I did this hurts me way more.

Because of what I have done there is negativity towards them, they didn’t ask for my help or anyones, they would have gotten along the way they have been without me trying I am sure, so please please don’t make it about them, and the assumption they want something for nothing or are doing something that they should do for themselves, as i said they are and have been.

I steamrolled in and didn’t think for a second that the consequences of that would make people think they were anything other than one of many communities in SL, for that I am ashamed of myself and really I hope that you do see this now as me just jumping right in there and not their fault.

The people that have given of their time already and their products to help raise money for wheelies I will always be so greatful to, and everyone that has purchased items I give a huge thanks to too, everyone that has donated product proceeds has done so for their own reasons, yes I wrote a blog post that may have encouraged it, but I don’t believe for a second I am that powerful.

I believe fully that those that have, have done so because they were also moved by the video as it was the video that motivated it, and the video that I encouraged people to watch , it wasn’t a doco on wheelies but one womans interview about her life and second life that just happened to mention it is where she goes. I also know from IM’s that people were motivated because of their own RL experiences, some that have first hand experience and some that work within that field.

My other big confession or perhaps motivation was that we raise so many funds for causes in SL every day , but every time that money is raised its taken out of world; it goes to wherever it is needed and that is wonderful. I am forever proud of the residents that inhabit second life, but this time I saw something that could stay in world – again probably relating far too much to my avatar – I guess I wanted to see them grow, see them move on to bigger and better and be able to pop in and visit on occasion and know that people I know and didn’t know until the last few days contributed to that.
I also wanted to give a helping hand to those that have been doing it up until now, to offer them that support and say hey you are so appreciated .

So again please dismiss my using the wrong word in a notecard about a fountain, they arent a charity they have never said they were , and please know that no one, especially me; meant to turn something good into something negative.

EDIT : Overwhelming response already this post is to just get me some idea of WHO wants to help, so let me know you are IN and then I will contact with further info YOU ALL ROCK !

Earlier today I was in a group IM that had become very dramatic, when one of the people IM’d me personally a comment was made about how someone had commented on her typing in the Group and her reaction to that even though very upset at the time, was to explain that even though her typos were caused by distress ‘What if she had had a disability’.

I have often thought that in the past, and having had an acquaintance in Yahoo, long before I was a resident here who was deaf and raved about the virtues of being in Phil’s Place and how it allowed her to be just like everyone else.

Back then voice wasn’t here, and in many other forms of chat people tended to communicate with voice, leaving her missing out on a lot of discussions. I was never able to find her here once I did join and I wish I had been able to.

Anyway after that conversation I was posting todays earlier post and was waiting for pics to load and decided to look at YouTube for a bit while waiting, and started watching some movies on Phils Place. Many I had seen before but one I hadn’t…this moved me to tears- yes RL ones, I am a crier, bet you didn’t expect that :P. Im embedding the video so please please watch and continue reading.

I instantly looked up the location of the movie, Wheelies…. and TP’d over to find that what was shown in the film was no longer the case, it had relocated to what is in the picture.

I found a donation fountain at the TP point and instantly threw in what I could. I am also hoping that many of you will do the same, but thats not what I am after.

What I want and I hope everyone will jump on board, is a way for us to help them with not just monetary donations into the fountain but possibly ways to make a bigger chunk of change. But I do still want you to throw in the fountain too lol.

What I was hoping and the timing for this is perfect, you see the University of Texas in Austin sim is holding a Carnival this Sunday at 6pm with dancing and entertainments and a whole slew of freebies to raise money for Wheelies, I have no idea what the freebies are of course , but again I know you are all such incredible people, that I want us again as I said to DO MORE.

There are so many incredibly talented Designers and Content Creators with HUGE hearts in SL, and I am calling on you all, I am hoping that as many of you that can will come up with an item that you would be willing to put a script in to forward the money to the Wheelies people…I am not even expecting it to be 100% of sales just something that you will be happy to do that with.

I am going to organise space at the Wheelies location to have these items at, or even if you were willing to set up the item at your own stores and have some sort of sign explaining where the money is going – someone with PS talent make me a sign lol PLEEEASE …..It is so upsetting that they have gone from what is in that movie to what they have now , and no offence to the lovely lady who has generously donated part of her land to them, which is awesome but as far as I can tell is limited on space and prims.

Also that build *sobs* again no offence but its so not worthy of such a wonderful place, but I am thinking its more about the people there not the walls that surround them :o). I have seen many times such generous reactions to many people who have needed help in Phils Place in the past, you all rally around and contribute so selflessly that I am begging – has no shame for good causes- you to do what you can to help.

So here is the list lol :

* Some sort of artwork to use as a sign for people that want to sell items and raise funds

* Designers/Creators to contact me in the next few days to let me know that they want to help by donating sales from an item or ten 😛 .

* Any kind of ideas people have to raise funds for them, donate larger land/builds etc.

This is everyones chance to do something so wonderful for such incredible people, that are providing a place and oppurtunity for people world wide to have somewhere to meet up and enjoy each others company, that may or may not have the same disabilities as they do.

This is what Phils Place is all about, its the people that are here that make us such a success. If you cant donate goods or services and wont be around Sunday please please drop by Wheelies and drop whatever you can in the fountain, it is so incredibly appreciated.

Ok that title sounds like I have an issue 😛 I don’t right now , but if you don’t take my advice I will,lol. Yesterday I was getting lots of notices and one just jumped off the screen and smacked me hard, not just because of the items, but also the information in the notecard.

Asuka Martin of Dernier Cri is an oldie thats NEW to Phil’s place..confused? good lol. Asuka has been in the teen grid for the past few years, and recently had to do that scary transition to our lovely overwhelming shores, leaving all of her friends behind her :o(. Believe me though we are glad she turned 18.

This girl has skilllllllls and big ones, not only has she moved her ISLAND!, yes she has had one of those for a year, but she also came bearing an incredible inventory for us to cherish, and cherish you will.

I have made a video to show you something amazing she has also brought with her that has been tackled in our parts before, but this was a first for me in such an easy way..WATCH THE VIDEO I am embedding it too as you will want to see what will I am sure get chopped for some of you.

So Asuka has brought us clothing for Men and Women, as well as absolutely incredible Hair as you will see, I also spoke to her for a bit this morning so that convo will be here too.

Ok so I got really really excited shopping late last night, and I was worried I outdid hair compared to clothes, so wore a few styles at the beginning and then ran out of hair lol.

This first set is the Shelly set, a lovely keyhole style crop top with wonderful sleeve ties and an adorable tank with little hearts on the straps.

The capris also come with the set and I just love the texture work and the belt on the waist is perfectly matched to the top.

Oh by the way did I mention that all of these clothes cost me a staggering 50L each and yes for sets too, Asuka is having a one or two week Grand Opening Sale, that also means hair starts at 50L , which is kind of explained in the Video.

The hair styles are top left to right Alysha, Clipped and April, and they are all yummmmy as is all the incredible Hair there, remember keeping DEMOS as I said in the Video is so important for these, as if your like me you will be so concerned about dyeing that first style you will want to look at every colour on the DEMO first, and YOU CAN, as the DEMO versions are unlimited Dyes.

But then when you move on to the 2nd and 3rd and in your cases the TENTH 😛 you will need to keep referring to that precious DEMO to guide the way. So do what I did and drag the DEMO folder into the hair folder for safe keeping. The skin I am wearing is Arcane – Smokey available at TRUTH and the gorgy shoes are from ETD and are the heelstrap platforms.

The next piece is the Cut Out Turtleneck in Pink, I love her pinks her actual colour palette for all things is superb.

Really lovely shading on this top and of course being cut-out like it is, its like a shrug and top combo which is YUMMY.

The hair is the Flossy style and is all sculpties, yes she can even do those too- darnit lol. You can just imagine my trauma colouring each first style lol in the packs, so every pic took an extra ten minutes debating with the demo, because I honestly love every single texture she has.

As you will see too, I went Blonde nuts , every blonde she has is just spot on, whatever type of blonde shade you love I think its there.

This is the Blithe set, this is such a fun casual look but with definite sexy attached. Again a wonderful use of colours and I was overjoyed I got a chance to pull out my Sculptie trainers from Sculpties up In here in the teal and brown as I haven’t worn them in an age.

Definitely smart cas with the jacket, but change tops and it definitely can go into a dressier look.

The hair left to right is Kate and Jamison, I fell hard in love with Kate, the shaggy style is wonderful, the perfect razor cut, Jamison I have been wearing all day since..I love the style as well as the colour lol, with the tan skin I look wonderfully healthy.

The Jamie set I dont actually even remember buying, I was so in awe of everything, knowing where she came from was making my mind reel and her age sooo talented. That I have to admit one or two items I bought without them rezzing fully LMAO – at 50L you know you would have too.

So when I put it on I was wooohooo, you know how much I love my grey and pinstripes together AWESOMENESS! add some pink and its divine.

Again these pieces can mix and match superbly with other items and the consistency of her colours is what is going to make that a breeze. Ok so I love love love the pants, but get a load of that blazer, its so many degrees of yummy- will have to go back and get that in every colour ( Asuka honey we need the fat packs for sure ).

The wonderful long locks are called Lindsay – no idea if thats Lindsay Lohan or what, dont really care its HOT!. I am also wearing the Venus Sandals from The HUB which even though they are black work so well as they are the noir ones and aren’t a dark black, and as the pinstripe pants have a drawstring and are a bit more casual the sandals really suit the mood.

This next set is called Rogue, this was another non rez lol, but Im starting to think I shop better that way lol less thinking more buying.

This set has a whole Greek Gladiatoress thing happening, the wonderful cream and white corset with the floaty flexi skirt, the glitch are even jagged for a better flow of look, did I mention yet ASUKA HAS THE SKILLLLLLS.

The hair style again in Sculpties is the Nicky hair, and the flow and waves to this are just wonderful, as well as those thick bangs, hee hee I chose a hair colour to match the look and it worked a treat.

I had been waiting to find the perfect colour combo to wear with the fab Garcia boots from Dela and this was it for sure. I love this whole package, strolling along beaches, shopping or going out dancing it all works.

This set is the Rugged, and the top didnt appeal to me an awful lot on the ad but the jeans OH MY.

The top is adorable on though, and the bonus of the bikini top with the set is wonderful, as it would look great with a shrug or your fav denim jacket.

But back to the pants WOWZA they are hot, the cut off waistband is so Mariah lol and done superbly, definitely cheeky – pun pun pun – and a wonderful denim colour too, more grey than blue and you know it already or do I have to say again? I LOVE GREY ! lol.

Shabby Chic is the name of the hair and even though it doesnt come with paint splatters or decoupage – giggles- its another wonderful shaggy cut.The sandals are the latest Sulaco by Enkythings, I have on the shades grey version so that the lighter strip in the middle highlights with the different shades in the denim – aren’t I tricky :P.

More pink ymmyness, and remember if Pink doesn’t tickle you there are other colours – so have to go back before the sale ends and get them all lol.

This is the Spring set, again the jeans are superb, and with the added little details this set just ups and ups the cute meter.

The top has as you can see two parts to it , or so you think :P, but that adorable little lace trim at the bottom is actualy an option on the underpants layer , so you can wear with adorable lace or without and then with or without the black lacey tube top underneath, or if your feeling daring on its own .

The hair is Tara, and in hommage to the Tara I know I went a lovely brown colour , this hair again is so well structured and the bangs and split back are all superb. The shoes are the Balmoral Heels from TRUTH in the texture change, lovely pumps named after one of our most gorgeous beaches here in Australia.

I ran out of hair here lol , The next two sets are again really casual fun sets, the one on the left is called Retro and I think the slim belt added to the texture is just a wonderful finish to this top, with the lovely floral trim that is repeated on the cuffs of the capris.

The set on the right is Misty, again a lovely set , that could move into evening with the change of pants as the top is just divine.

The shoes are the Frisky wedges by Maitreya and their floral print went so well with both.

Asuka Martin: I started making things the day I joined. I used to be into making sims textures and things, and then I heard about SL and thought it’d be neat to join

Sasy Scarborough: ok so you started straight away but you said you moved your island from teen grid ? so you were selling on teen grid also ?
Asuka Martin: yeah I opened up a store on the teen grid about a week after I started playing. I pretty much remade my sims items at first

Sasy Scarborough: awesome what was your site for the sims
Asuka Martin: I didn’t have a site, but I went by Revoye and reavoye on a couple of sites like the sims resource, and mod the sims

Sasy Scarborough: ok so you had a store and you were able to afford an island , are they the same price as adult grid of did you have to upgrade ?
Asuka Martin: Last year I bought an island in april. yeah they’re the same price as here on the adult grid

Sasy Scarborough: wow thats amazing and all this while you were at school ?

Sasy Scarborough: so chi chi will be starting a label too ? or merging with Dernier Cri ?
Asuka Martin: she’ll be setting things up on Dernier Cri. she already has some shorts and one of her shoes setup

Sasy Scarborough: so eventually Dernier Cri adult grid will be the same as teen but with more shoppers lol
Asuka Martin: I really wish there weren’t two separate grids though. It was really sad how everyone on dernier cri kind of had to split apart. :/
Sasy Scarborough: yes i think there should be a family grid at least a pg grid for all that would be great one of our fashionistas (hee Hee Whimsy 😛 ) lol has kids on the teen grid now and its hard

Asuka Martin: everything on the main grid is gigantic. The map, the builds, the avatars ;D I thought it was kind of amusing. Teens like to make everything really small

Asuka Martin: I used to like playing with photoshop and scanning things in and messing with them. when I got into the sims I started trying to make textures, and pretty much taught myself how.
