First of all todays lesson learned. I was using the wonderful Venetian Blinds projector lights by VR Studio for my picture, and I realised in time that the shadows where not appearing on my legs. I attributed it to the fact that they were appliers but was unsure what was going on there. So I spoke to the VR Studio creator and they explained that the lighting was conflicting with the alpha in the appliers, so to fix it I needed to use the MASK option on my Slink Body. I went to the layers tab clicked on the clothing button and checked the masking box. I had to tweak the slider and bam SHADOWS ARE GO!

Now my other ‘pay attention to me’ moment is about my sleeve puffs. They are actually from an older – no longer available – jacket by Celoe. They slipped perfectly over this beautiful Blazer jacket by Pixicat that is at this round of Collabor88. The blazer also has the lovely lace inner trim giving you an all in one and ready to go look. I did wish that the lace had an off/on option, but by adding the sleeve puffs I was able to create my own look with it.

The hair is also a C88 item by #Foxy. Because of the marvelous styling HUD you get the option of hair behind shoulders and even shoulder tendrils off, giving you a perfectly clean sweep for clothing. I love these added details. The hair also comes with hair tattoos that are also an option to show or hide, meaning the hair is very versatile.

The boots are by Utopia Designs, and yet again they came through with the options as well as the incredible materials options you get, as the jacket had a sheen to it that I was able to follow through with in the boots leather…just perfect. I feel like this is the perfect outfit to wear to a night-time polo match, it has a hint of equestrian and a dash of sophistication all combined into one hot look, if I do say so myself. So explore your older inventory items and piece together your style.

I did a post the other week, and sent the link to Kavar – Cleanslate of Exile – and his reaction was “OMG Your hair matches your shoes’ and my reply was ‘Exactly’. This is not a new thing for me, with Second Life giving us so many options to just bust out the hair dye without any permanent damage, why shouldn’t you go all out.

This time it is more of a subtle fusion than the all out BAM Colour, with the lovely soft mint like ends to this beautiful blonde, then adding those same colour combinations of white and mint to my shoes and pants, it came out a winner.

The hair is the latest by Exile at this round of Collabor88 and while in my picture you cannot see the hairline of perfection, I can guarantee you are going to want to get this style and pray to all that is Kavar that he does this more and more frequently with newer styles. It also comes with an add on Hair Flower which is just perfect as it is named Slow Dancing, so you will want to find a reason to be taken out to tango the night away in this style.

As soon as I saw these fun ankle boots by Mutresse I knew exactly which pants I wanted to wear them with and the look just grew upwards from there. They are so clompy stompy fun, and they have so many options of colours and combinations that are way too entertaining to play with.

The pants by Vinyl also go into the options of awesome category, and with the fatpack you can play for days. These are the brights version of the pants, and they are just so cool. I love the zippered expanded sides part, and they are so very much as named snowboard pants, and go with that whole vibe really well. I added the top by Blueberry and the straps around the mid section are on/off controlled and can be coloured in contrasting or same as done here. It is a lovely style and I like that even though mid cropped it is long sleeved.

I was running through facebook earlier and saw an ad for new brows for LeLutka heads by Mai Bilavio, I grabbed them, and they are really nice, coming in plucked or threaded, if you have never seen or experienced RL threading it is something pretty special as a skill set. They are a natural colour only, and you have to pick the right colour base for your skin, I am wearing the Medium if that helps, with my Medium skin tone by League. I did however get the fatpack because I was not sure how they were going to blend in as there is some skin colour surrounding them.

I also pulled out the Fresh Lip tints by Pink Fuel for LeLutka, these are amazing as there are so many options including the dolly version I have on in the nude. For the background of my picture, I actually just stacked that great Soy apartment building I was in the other day on top of itself so that the base of the build became a backstep behind me, so many variables with items in SL to create interesting space.

Do you modify things you buy, do you take copies of things and see how far you can push them? Do you know how to give yourself more natural light? – if the build allows. This great apartment by Soy allowed for both.  The walls were a more beaten up old build look, and while that works in some cases, it is not always a want in a good build. So I looked at the texture panel and made sure the item was copy, and then just threw in a texture I had full perms in a lighter cream colour. It still had some rough natural paint on it, so it still fit well. I didn’t have much to lose either, it either worked or it didn’t. As for the light.

Depending on the direction of the sun, and how you rez your build, you will get different sun direction. If you don’t feel like picking everything up, or you can’t, there are ways to bring the sunshine in. If you go to edit the item and if linked select the face option, click on the outside walls, and if possible you make them transparent enough to let the sunlight in. This is why WinxBoxes are mod and separate panels for the outside so that this is possible when using them, and this build by Soy is the same kind of thing. You can’t do it if the inside and outside wall are the same mesh piece with a shared face.

The build although an apartment is a great little size for an office kind of look, so adding this great Coffee Station by Cheeky Pea made that a reality. Individual pieces give you the option to set it up as you wish, the curtains and plants are also a part of the collection. Again using mod options to resize the plants on the windowsill so that they didn’t look too much like copies of the same thing.

Keeping warm with my Hot Chocolate – I do not drink coffee, I just make it – and this wonderful outfit by Kaithleens. The vest is a separate attachment so you can mix and match that with other outfits. Then down to these incredibly classy shoes by Utopia. I love the stitching leatherwork and ability to change colours of leather in the various portions of the shoes, making some great combinations. Make sure to demo so that you can see how much of your wardrobe these will take to a new level.

There are so many reasons to love Second Life, one of the easiest reasons for girls anyway, is the ability to be the Princess in your own Fairy Tale. Now in this look, it would be more of an Urban Princess, but none the less, spending time in this little environment that is a shopping trip of epic proportions that happened recently at D-Lab with Whimsy Winx.

It started with there being appliances set out for FLF and ended in so much cute my teeth hurt. Whimsy has always been a fan of little homemaker items, ironing boards, laundry baskets, vacuums etc so a washer dryer was a given. I tp’d her over and was standing still waiting for her to grab them and things started happening around me. I thought I was imagining things at first, even in Second Life you can tend to let your imagination get the better of you, but rather than kind of fade off into the distance, I started to actually focus on where I was standing and what I was standing amongst.

I literally screeched into Whimsy’s ear and started squealing and rambling about flying little people. Again I had to shake my head and focus, because I realised again, this is Second Life and it was possible that what I was seeing was actually a person in an avatar that I was not familiar with, but no…it was these adorable little people, not just walking past me and around me, but one started flying while holding a balloon and then while I tried to not hyperventilate I found the source.

Now I knew something looked familiar, I did in fact already have some of the orchard trees and birds from events past, and so I searched my inventory and found that I had, in fact, some items from the various gachas before me, but an event and a gacha key does not even begin to explain what is actually going on here.

They move, they roam, they buy drinks and sit, and they climb ladders and size you up if you happen to be near, they socialise with each other and sometimes not only do they fly around you on balloons but sometimes they ride birds. Not only are they the most adorable things, but you can change their outfits with a HUD and the packaging they actually come in, which many would probably delete, also become interactive things they climb. They water the garden, they go for a swim, this is the most mesmerising little happening that will just make your day. We played more of the options at D-Lab and then ran home and unpacked and rezzed everything, and now it is the most calming space to just immerse yourself in, so if you search D-Lab in your inventory do not keep these delightful items trapped in your inventory, set them free.

I was still wearing these delightful shoes by Livalle and playing with the colour options, when I put on the yellow there was no turning back, I needed something to wear and found these unpacked jeans in my objects folder and beamed when they, of course, had yellow military stripes on them – there is that Bloggers fate in action – the top was easy, because I have been waiting for the right time to get my layered tshirt on. The HUD has the option of solid or striped sleeves as well as edge colouring or even off for the sleeves.

The hair is a fantastic style by Exile at this round of C88 and I could not stop my yellow love. This whole beautiful play area is just enhanced by this gorgeous countryside cottage by Unkindness that is also at C88 and will make the most divine studio space for someone, or an office, because the new year needs some organisation.

Wearing thermal when it is blisteringly hot outside is just how I live my SLife. This background prop by Fox City had me imagining a concert hall in the snow, and so this dancer would have to dress accordingly.

The romper that I made more a stomper with these great shoes by Livalle, is by Narcisse and at this round of TLC. It has edging, cuffs and buttons options on the HUD, which has arrows so that you can swap pages to find them. It went really well with my tinker leg warmers by Blueberry, that fit perfectly over my shoes if you use the flat option on the HUD that comes with.

These shoes have options also, changing the buckle to different metals, and the upper and strap of the shoes can be coloured separately than the sole and edge rim of the shoes, so cute.

The necklace is by Mandala and is actually one of seven that come either separately or as one attachment, and have stone and metal options. I am wearing the two shortest of the set, but plan on using the others in future posts, so nice also to have the grouped attachment option as well. I paired them up with some older earrings that are just fantastic.

The hair I am wearing is at C88 it comes with a hairbase mesh option, but I went with using appliers by LeLutka in my much favored widows peak look. The tail comes with a styling hud so you can give it more motion if needed. The skin is also at C88 and is by Glam Affair, a beautiful skin called Adaline that has such a soft and innocent look to it.

We have had mesh now for 6 years, which actually means even for us oldbies that we have had mesh longer than we didn’t have it – just barely for some of us – but that is staggering. Occasionally we all come across an item that really makes us raise our heads to the Mesh Gods and thank them for the skills that can now be shared. That was kind of what occurred today when trying on this dress by Cynful at this round of Collabor88.

The fringing look that covers the entire dress is remarkable, and in years past would have taken down a few sims just trying it on. But now thanks to mesh, and the skillset of those using it, we can have such delights as these…the perfect shake your tailfeather New Years party dress. There is also the ability to make the base of the dress a different colour than the fringing so that you can have a contrast look. I was feeling the nude colour scheme today and paired it up with these stunning shoes by Ingenue.

The peep-toe teamed up with the strap bow look is just perfect and a high feet pleasure to wear the night through. The colour scheme matched up really well with these new bento rings and bracelets that I got from Voluptas Virtualis, they do some amazing clothing, but these rings are just perfection. I really like that the metal options have a great range to choose from, and the colour combinations of the stones and beadwork are just fun and exciting. I would love to be able to pick and choose which rings are visible, but that would mean me having 465641656 options of wear, and I need to buy more things.

You see something that is just lovely, and you want instantly to own it, that was how I felt about the Odalisque’s Claws by Cynefin. However, while the ad was so pretty, and they had me thinking I would do something all whimsical and fantasy like, that changed. The claws are bento fit and at first I was all about the option to not have the strap around the wrist…I got the fatpack and once I had on the silver, I knew that it was time to bring out the Pris skin appliers by YS&YS that were from a recent <3 RP event.

The skin appliers come in Elf or Vamp or Orc skin bases, but because the face work is actually a tattoo layer, I went with a beautiful skin layer of Serene also a YS&YS skin, given a more what is really underneath vibe. I had been shopping with Ashia and Whimsy at RO Poses and grabbed all their Bento poses that come with props, one of which was this perfect bow and arrow, and instantly I knew that I need to put on the wrist straps version of the claws as the whole vibe was now Warrior Woman of the future, or past if you like conspiracy theories.

I got to use a lot of bits and pieces that I have wanted to for a while now, this hairbase being the main one. Mina released a hairstyle a while ago now, and as soon as I saw it I fell in love with the hairbase, however, eachtime I went to wear it with something I would end up in something else, often other hair of hers, but still. Today I decided that the hairbase was staying and the hair was going to stay off as it is one sided and would have covered my other hand. The shaved lines hairbase is a winner, and comes with appliers for LeLutka and other heads with omega appliers also.

The metal work also comes in body appliers, mixing them with these burns by Izzie’s that are intense but when you are a hot cyborg you sometimes just need to dive into the fires for various reasons and sometimes your skin regeneration doovahikiethingymabob hasn’t fully charged.

I grabbed this cool dress with the awesome collar off of Marketplace, and it was perfect for the look I was going for, it also has armbands and bracers, but I did not want to detract focus from the claws. The fatpack options let you change the colours of the claws making mixes if you like, and there are great texture options, but the silver was just that right side of steel for me.

I hadn’t worn my Mandala ears for a while, and this was the time to bring them out, with the jewellery options and the adorable silver tips using the pixie size option, they fit my head really well, as you can open and close the holes with shape sliders when you turn off your ears on your LeLutka bento heads.

Dance movies are my jam. I think I saw Break Dance and Electric Boogaloo at the movies a half dozen times each, and for us that is a lot of times because movies were never really inexpensive to see. I loved them so much, and every Dance movie out there I have seen numerous times. I even search dance on Netflix and Stan just to see if there is anything new, and alas no. Dance movies are fantastic because there is always some kind of underdog gets the win in the end kind of message, and it was actually those two movies that really showed me that.

When I saw these boxer boots and bomber jacket at Uber by Coco it just made me want to break dance for the rest of the night, I tpd Gidge Uriza of It’s Only Fashion over for a quick visit while doing my pics, and told her what I was doing, her response was ‘ of course you are ‘ apparently it is very acceptable behaviour of me in her eyes, I dig that.

The boots especially won me over, as these were a thing in the mid 80’s and I wanted some but at the same time am such a Girly Girl that I would have had nothing to wear them with, such a shoe addict I am. Now I can get my shoe addiction well and truly taken care of in Second Life.

The socks that come with also have a colour change hud, some lovely colours that pull it all together. The bomber jacket comes with a skivvy in white, which looks partially untucked with the pants also available (not the ones worn) though it fit the ones worn perfectly so I am excited about using that in the future with something else.

One of the best things about working in an environment where people like to get coffee or snacks from outside of the office is getting the chance to run out and spend some time in the fresh air and just having that time out…even when you don’t drink coffee.

I didn’t have to go too far today, as this particular cafe/bakery is on the Genesis sim just across from Winx&Flair, Narcisse and Adam n Eve, so if you ever need a great little spot to take some pics, feel free to do so.

I saw this hair release by Tableau Vivant, and it had such a lovely North Shore cosmopolitan vibe about it. Sunshine and good living. That then moved on to this great shirt by Nyu that has long sleeves which I love and just a nice fit perfect for my Slink Hourglass body. Paired up with this great new skirt by Vinyl that is at this round of Fameshed. It kind of gives an ‘ Anyone for Tennis’ feel to the ensemble but the skirt is actually leather, so instead of runners, I went with these adorable chunky sandals also by Nyu.

This post also runs into my Something Old Something New Challenge from the other day, the old coffee stuff, the new skirt, the borrowed bakery set and the blue top, I am feeling the mixes a lot right now.

So many things went on in this post, for one I channelled my inner Whimsy and put together this look for my location with bits and pieces making the build look completely different. The build is a nice large store front, with large floor to ceiling windows at the front and lovely doors, but I added the planks and lights by Meva, to close that window portion off, and then adding the outdoor look table and chairs.

Outdoor seating is a big thing in Australia, so much so that each chair costs a few hundred dollars payment to the council each quarter to have, so they are definitely an investment…but well worth it as Aussies definitely like to be seen enjoying their cafe experiences.

Seeing and being seen is the way to go, and while I was distracted by some work on my laptop and enjoying my extra large cup of Cheeky Pea Tea, I had some very confident guests stop by. Now confidence is a must when you are an elf I would imagine, but that confidence probably comes from the knowing that if people are not so nice, they will end up on a list, so you better toe the line.

These guests of mine have their homebase at this round of The Arcade, which opened yesterday for the month. Mutresse has created many variations of them and they are delightful. They also have great taste in women and are definitely charmers, when not taking pictures of themselves or swinging from the furniture, seriously the shennanigans.

I was a beacon for all things red, with this great jacket by Cynful that fits over the top. A great pairing but able to be worn separately, so many options of use. I went with keeping Cynful with the great belted Flare jeans that have the option to be worn with high heels or flats, these things are very useful when getting dressed.

A beautiful recent hairstyle by Mina gives a lot of attention to the upper torso, so you can still see the clothing really well, it also has a styling hud to change sides, which is handy when taking pics, as I may have been sitting in the other chair.
