    Riding in the Hood

    Red in the Hood

Halloween is just around the corner, what do you have planned for this creepy and ghoulish day? We don’t really celebrate it down here, not the way they do in the states anyway, so it has always been a bit of a wanting to do it, and a not understanding the hype of it all.
Not until Second life did I really see how incredibly celebrated the day for so many really is.

So for the last few weeks, amongst getting Halloween at The Deck sorted, and the launching this weekend of What’s New SL, I have been thinking of the Battle Royale skins by Gala @ Curio. I really have been, ever since I got them, how I was going to show you the wonder and creativity that is this skin release.

So many ways you can in fact show them, and not only in pic format, I mean I even wrote a movie/satire in my head for hours the other night while laying in bed, and the concept was so fun, and I was so excited, but at the moment I wouldn’t be able to truly do it justice, maybe one day I will get it done, I do hope so.

Anyway as I was tossing ideas around prior to that night, something so obvious hit me, well actually it was more like if it was possibly I would have stubbed my toe on it. The Red Riding Hood set from Stellar was on my floor so I wouldn’t forget to unpack it. I knew right then the only thing to do was to show that in the end Red always wins, and she doesn’t need a man to help her.

Then bloggers fate slipped in, you know I talk about that often, you see every so often as I have written here before, I get hat need mental, like seriously…it’s like those days you don’t have any chocolate in the house and you could seriously walk 500 miles to get some. Well today was one of those days, and rarely is that need sated, but today OMG was it ever, because lo and behold there in The Hat Mechanic – thanks Aradia for reminding me of the store name to find it – was this incredible Riding Hood set that totally shows who the victor is.

The set from Stellar actually comes with a hood and cape, hair, shoes, basket and the adorable and very naughty – flipping up showing the tartan panties – dress. However I did change the hood, cape and basket for the ones in the set from The Hat Mechanic. All in all the combination is the perfect way to not only take back your power this Halloween, but to show the true Diversity of creativity intended to be part of our ever growing talent pool.

If it wasn’t for skins such as this one, that allowed me to show off through continuity of make up, the steps from perfectly adorable, to bruised and battered after taking on a wolf, to the finished result of the mending process, It would have surely been a most boring picture…..or I would have had to spend hours in photoshop with skills I don’t have, or paid someone to make me a custom, or done some mods to an eloh which is of course more plausible, but by the time I got the look I wanted and deliberated over looking cute enough, it would have cost me way more lol.

Definitely the perfect excuse if you ask me to buy such an extravagantly ridiculous and marvelous all rolled into one item, crafted by a brilliant milliner.

Skin/Shape Expo was actually the brainchild of Foxy Innis , a shape creator here in Second Life. She believes strongly as do many, that the symmetry between a well balanced look, is the ratio of skin and shape. Now I don’t do well with change, especially on others, as friends will attest..I get really upset if they do any sorts of changes, unless of course I supervised lol.

But with all of these beautiful and talented creators joining each other for such a worthwhile cause, I felt it was the least I could do to change my shape for some pictures. Now I had to start off slowly, and it made it easier on me that Leafy and Pink Fuel are both participants at this years Skin/Shape Expo.

If you have ever explored outside of either store, you will know they share a sim. So it was a no brainer to bring those two together in one post, and as the shapes compliment the skins so well, it worked great. The latest release in the Skye Skins by Pink Fuel are just lovely, they are innocent but with that kind of cheekyness built in.

I made my own shape, it took me a year to stop touching it in one way or another, and I have pretty much kept it consistent over the last three years, if I make a tweak it stays forever. But after wearing these shapes today, and being able to see them with such adorable skins, I can certainly see the appeal in wanting ‘that look”  I even went so far as wanting to live up to “that look ” with the little outfits I put on.

The first one being a set I bought recently off Xstreet for some ridiculously inexpensive amount, and had a ball running around in it for a day and night. Curvy and Cute is that naughty nurse. The shape is Bree and with the Skye Beestung looking skin from Pink Fuel she is perfect.

I had to add Katat0nik to this mix with the hair in all three pics, as I truly think PF and Leafy lovers just have to be Kat fans too.All three styles have many options, one being that you can hide and show the music symbols , and or headsets, which makes for fun looks either way.

So while at the Skin/Shape Expo make sure you visit all the booths, and grab DEMOS for everything, and even if you grab a group of friends and have a shape swapping party, it could find you something you never knew you wanted.

So today I woke up and checked my emails as I was logging in. There was an offline from a designer who’s store I featured a few years ago, letting me know he still remembered that the first time he appeared in a blog it was by me, and that now he had his own store blog.
I thought that was so sweet, and was excited to see some items I hadn’t seen of his on the blog. Yes I did go and search out his store every few months, but nothing that I didn’t already have, until today. So as soon as I logged in and sorted through everything I had to , I was off and running.

I also checked out another store, then came home. Trying on all my new outfits I remembered that I had meant to swing by Refuge, so off I went again, and got two more styles to show with my other Refuge hair. I really like the hair produced by Refuge, especially with the straight across rock-a-billy bangs. The first style has the most adorable bows and pins decorating the pigtails look.

All the clothing I am wearing is from SK Designs, they have been around since 2007 and their look has changed a bit, but not too much over that time. The creator Sergio designs for both men and women, but I think from the style of clothing he does, that he probably enjoys making for women a bit more. The ensembles are sold as sets, so all you see is all you get, and sometimes more, depending on if there are other coloured tops or both long and shorter pants, etc. The prices are really reasonable and transfer, so if you are looking at buying items that you can share with your other selves, this is perfect.

The skins I am wearing are the Cleo skins from Dutch Touch, with more leaning towards the more creative of make ups in the range, the punk and pip make ups are a fun change. The eye make ups are especially gorgeous, and I have been wearing the punk skins on and off for the last few days, I love the liner on the inner part of the eyes.

Old boots in the form of the 3way Engineer boots from J’s, teamed up with the brand new Rea Suede plain boots by Pixel Mode, these are delightful , in a range of colours that you can co-ordinate with a vast range of seasonal choices. The style are simple but elegant, they have a semi scrunched look, and an incredibly high heel. What is very surprising and will make many happy , is that these boots are mod, so that you can size them to your needs.

I had a wonderful time revisiting an old store, and came out with lots of newness, I hope you like.
