A believer
Years ago while shopping on Marketplace, my partner gifted me a bikini. I was excited, I unpacked it, I put it on and had an ‘oh no’ moment. Do not read this thinking there was anything wrong with the bikini, there was not, it was a perfectly created bikini, system layer, all the straps lined up, it was well made, well executed and so on, there was just one thing wrong with it…it had the Australian Flag on it. “But I thought you were Australian” I hear you thinking to yourself, yes, yes I am, but as you may have noticed, Australians are a different kettle of fish, or perhaps it is just me, but I do not think so. You see, this Australian does not Australia represent in that way, give me a Union Jack bikini, and I am living my best Ginger Spice cameo in Flushed Away pants wearing life – seriously I watched the movie and got a union jack texture and made pants using system pants layers immediately and ran around while Mel laughed at me. Ok rambling as I do, it just is not the normal I tried to explain to him, for Australians to wear Australiana as we call it, it is a souvenir and that is for tourists or as gifts to family overseas. We would send an Australian bikini to someone, but wearing one is not the normal, especially not a sexy one. Where as in the U.S wearing the flag on anything and everything is the norm, it just hits different down here, usually if you see someone in Australiana stuff, it was a gift from a traveling relative, someone decided to go to somewhere else here and buy you a souvenir of their trip, but it is Australian, and you are Australian and you are in Australia…which made me realise, we would possibly wear Australiana stuff outside of Australia just to represent or be brats, or both. He thought I was odd, he had many questions, but yes, it is just what it is and everyone I know feels the same way, sometimes guys are different, but again, it comes down to gifts, someone gave you a flag tshirt, and your other shirts are in the wash and you are only going out on the boat, so yeah throw it on I guess…or you won it with a meat platter at the R.S.L and yes, again, things happen (someone is going to tell me this is not the case, but in my own experiences it is, as a consumer and a retailer so nerrrrr, and if you come at me on this I AM DOBBING).
So when I saw that Believe had this set of Koala stuff recently, at first glance I was like, oh lordy, how did that end up a thing, but then my eyes travelled around and I was OH EM GEE , and off I ran, to grab this set, for two parts of it only…the garter you see at the top of my leg and there is a branch holdable that is just as adorable. You see all bets are probably off when it comes to Koala’s and there was a time in the late 80’s when our souvenirs got a bit more cute, but it was a blip, but the little squeezable paws open so I can clip onto your pen, or cap or mirror Koala is something I think all of us have had at some point, it was definitely something we had as kids in the early 80’s often as prizes by teachers etc. He was cute, he was small and he was a koala, it was not so much about being a tourist, or representing it was just our little dude. So when I got the set, I could not help myself but chuckle at the idea that Mel would see it, stand there and remember and be like ‘ I thought we didn’t do that’ and then I would have to give him another chat about exceptions for cuteness…instead he didn’t see it, so I had to show him the pic and then explain what I thought, what I remembered and fill him in on how this was going to go down, and yet again he was probably thinking ‘ it is not easy being a banana’…which is also an Australian exception, because honestly, if the Big Banana had a bikini, I would have probably worn that – look it up.
The greyness of it all created the colour styling for the post, and I was definitely delighted that the garter fit perfectly with the top of the built in fishnet stockings of these Breathe boots. They come with lace or net options, and I just love that the laces down the sides are separately changeable so that I could add a splash of red. I love grey and red together, it is just so nice, grey is so versatile. Also being able to change the sole to red also made it pop. Then moving on to this dress, this dress and the fluffy sweater hoodie worn with are from Lunar and honestly the options are wild. I actually bought the whole set, which also has a long dress version, but options are that the dress has built in underwear and that colours separately from the dress and then you have opaque as worn for the dress and then a bunch of opacity options, as well as metal options for the tiny clips on the shoulder straps, then you have a trillion colours to choose from if you go for the whole pack, but also many colours to choose from if you just buy as singles. Definitely check her pack pricing though because she gives a huge discount on packs. The longer version of the dress even has an AO, again the included options are amazing, as well as the sweater as that comes included with the longer version.
Speaking of awesome the moment I saw this hair by Exile I just knew it was for me and going to my favourites tab. The combed back with height style of it all is just gorgeous, and fierce, the whole style is just attitude, and I was waiting until I had enough of that for the rest of the look before I put it on to showcase. I am wearing it with one of my favourite hairbases also, so the hairline differs slightly, but that is just because I have it on under all my hair usually. This style is so cool too, because it keeps everything off your face, and lets me show a skin I picked up from Tutti Belli, the fact that it is called Luna and I am wearing Lunar is just a fun bit of bloggers fate. Going back to some softer features, and with the great brows from Nuve, I am as stated feeling Fierce and also Fluffy at the same time. Adding a bit of glamour with the necklace by Yummy, this is an older piece, but still hits a home run for me, I love the bow tied ribbon back of it also, things like that that people rarely see, just bring me joy.
