Being a teen in the 80’s this was the done thing, stretching our sweater sleeves as long as we could, and then shoving our thumbs into a hole we made in the sweater. No consideration for the money spent on the cardigan by our parents, and never thinking we would get into trouble at school, as we are a uniforms country down here.

So seeing this sweater by Amrie was a must have moment. It was a time when you still had all those dreams about what you would do when school was over, what you could be when you grew up…and still under the impression that growing up and being an adult was going to be cool, and fun and less responsibilities than homework and chores. HA!

The whole look kind of resembles that time, and also reminds me of one of my favourite shows ‘Girl Meets World’. I love this show, I do not think there has been one episode that has not made me cry. I of course watched the original ‘Boy Meets World’ and they could have really messed it up, but they nailed it, and I am glad such a show exists for younger watchers. I felt like there was a whole decade or more of t.v that no longer covered real issues kids face in growing up, without having to be so adult in nature. It is fun, it is light, and the two girls have a fun fashion sense.

So I am channeling my Maya today, and with these very cool looking glasses by Minimal, that have a very old worldly aviator goggles kind of look to them, I reckon that if I flap hard enough, maybe I can make magic happen.

Also loving on these cool denim shorts by Gizza, with the partially unbuttoned look, that just screams too much comfort food, and time to slouch on the sofa and veg for the day…again that imagination of no responsibilities running wild. I teamed the look up with these great new Low Sneakers by Maitreya. I am wondering where the 41 size went, this stopping at 39 thing hmph (just kidding, size matters not when fitting to feet) and the feet options are both Maitreya flat and Slink flat, so you are very much covered for wear, if you have either, or both.

There are many great options to choose from if you go fatpack, and such fun little details, like zebra print, one does not always know one needs zebra print, until it is there as an option. As usual with Maitreya’s super attention to detail, they are not crisp and straight out of the box looking, they are worn in and scuffed appropriately.

This hair is very cool, it has the side french braiding, and is a Spellbound gacha I picked up somewhere in my travels, I did not even know I had it as it was still in a box, unpacking more often needs to be a thing. I actually did search Spellbound in my inventory though, as I had not worn them in forever.

Over the years Blogging and how we do so, has come under a lot of scrutiny… and guidelines and rules have been put into place by stores. Hundreds of different things to make us as bloggers toe some imaginary line in the sand. There are so many of these now, that they actually have started to implode on themselves, because by continuing to stack them, and make more and more demands, the essence of what blogging was for many, has been diluted so much that content suffers.

I have many creators I follow on flickr, and other social media platforms, and in the olden days, bloggers were given support by creators, their posts were shown to their customers, they used to add bloggers to their websites, and publicly acknowledge that blogging was something that benefited them in their business. We would have feedback from creators about how things were going, have conversations about new releases, and were often beta testers for new products. It was an awesome collaboration effort behind the scenes, and customers knew it. Customers knew that the bloggers were that ‘middle man’, that person that showed them the path to items they didn’t know they needed yet. We knew what was what, and where to get it, we showed someone how to wear things in ways that even the creators themselves had not thought of. We were stylists and information guides for all things commercially related, and newsworthy in SL.

Sending machines, cut off that connection with creators. Less and less time was spent having a virtual cuppa and a chat. Time is valuable in SL, but there was a lot of good things that came out of those talks, and now creators know very little about the bloggers that they have on their lists and in their groups.

I have seen people talk about not knowing a bloggers reach, I have met new Residents that have no concept of blogs, or older residents that just event shop so much that they are in the know all on their own.

To see only a vendor image, can limit the imagination of a product…example show a pose set where a girl is ice-skating, and a blogger will show you the same pose of herself getting a can of peas from a cupboard. Todays post instead of searching all over for a guitar for Whimsy to hold, she found one that was a prop, unlinked it and I found an air guitar poseset for her to use as the pose…these are things we do, and someone looking for a guitar may just pass up on the prop because it would seem to be ‘just a prop’.

I have seen items vendor ads on a feed, and then seen a blogger post on the same items and not recognise them as the same thing at all….and I know I am not alone there. These are potentially loss of sales, because it may not seem like what the person was looking for, and it is our job to show them it is. This is not to say that the creator did their ad wrong, it is just not conceivable that the creator can show every single use of something.

So I had a Thunk, a Sasy Thunk, which many people know means strange things are underfoot. We already IM the creators/blog managers when we feature their items, and that is nice, sometimes we get an IM back, most of the time not,  people are busy. We have forms to fill in for some stores/events letting them know they have been blogged and so on – not sure when SL and blogging became so clerical.

For the most part it has been us as bloggers that spread the word, bloggers created feeds, bloggers started social media use for posting links to posts, bloggers (and photographers in SL) were the ones that used Flickr for their blog handling, and facebook, google plus and so on, all just expanding further and further, so that a featured item got seen by every person possible.

But what about those that don’t read blogs (YET) or only use flickr to follow the stores they want to see items of, or follow the link to the website of the creator that is posted in a group notice, that may also go to flickr….what if we help the customer see more of the picture?

Because that is what it is all about right, for the majority of us bloggers in SL, we are salespeople, we want to spread the word on a product that we ourselves support, that we encourage others to get too. So while there is that crazy review system in Marketplace, what if using the creators own Flickr stream or blog, we paste in comments our own links to our own post on the same item, done with the utmost of respect.

If I was looking at the item of a store, and I saw 15 blog links under it posted by bloggers, I could not help myself but have a look, and honestly seeing blogger number 11 wear that jacket with those shoes, or match up that table with that set of chairs I also own, I am running straight over with my cash.

This kind of cross-over creator/blogger notification option can only benefit the creator financially, and also benefit the blogger who may capture a new readers attention. This would not of course be possible to do on every single item featured in a post, as often there are dozens of bits and pieces, but for instance, todays post we are all wearing tutu’s from Fishy Strawberry, and I know Fae flickrs her ads, and its a fun way to see the skirts being used, we all wore them differently. So today when I am done with the post, I will go to find the flickr pic of the release, and I will add the link to the post, I will also thank Fae for making such cuteness 🙂

The benefit to this is for all involved, new readers, possible purchases of items that may have been glanced at otherwise, and also with all those rules and regulations now, some of which are apparently view counts,  well this helps that in a truly cohesive way.

So every time that we see anything spacey, or in Whimy’s mind space like, she goes into this long detailed explanation of how when we retire (apparently we are retiring together) we are going to open a Space Brothel! yes, you can imagine my reaction to such things…..the first 84 times it was OH HELL NO! now I just smirk at her and tell myself it is her ‘senior moment’ come early. We laugh as we are now, as I write this, over the fact that when/if we end up batty in some home, that we will rattle off things about shoes up our bums, and space hookering.

It is definitely going to be entertaining for the future caregivers of the world, to look after senile ex second lifers, or for that matter anyone that plays MMO’s or spends time in Virtual Worlds. The shrinks are going to have a field day convinced we imagined flying or being able to change into a hamster. Or how small groups of older people will start screaming about the horde. Anyway, back to Madam Winx and her friend who just visits…Sasy.

So about this challenge. The Challenge is called the Uneventful Challenge, and by that it means that your post has to contain items that are not from Events. Now we know events are fun, and they make it easy to get all under one roof, but there are newer Residents that have never been to a Mainstore, I met one the other day who did not know how to find where her skin was from,  and she was months old. People are losing their understanding of events being in addition too, because they are instead becoming more main than the source. Creators are finding it hard to do store releases, because they do not have the range of reach that being in an event provides them. So this blogger challenge, challenges us the bloggers to provide the enticement to our readers, and get them seeing what a store has to offer.

A store we both usually go to and hit hard, is Gizza. We go every few months, buy up everything we did not buy the last time, check out what is newer, what we may have missed in the past, sometimes we even all dress up the same and dance (this has actually happened, we even sent pictures to the owner) . This time around we hit it harder than ever, because much to our delight, they now do Slink sizes for all their newer items. I spent K’sand K’s and am over the moon with my haul. What worked out to be great, is that items from one set, worked with items from another, making me very pleased, as often anything that hangs over something, will not always fit something else.

I am however a bit sad by some outfits being all one piece of mesh. I want to dress and style myself, so a jacket a top and a skirt or shorts being one thing, means that someone else dressed me, and that is not as much fun, but I do understand that there are those out there, that for them that is a great option, fast and efficient. My sad did not last long though, as I said, I shopped LOTS!

I teamed up my leather halter and skirt from Gizza, with some killer boots by Phedora, I remember that was another day I was having a moment, and just hit the store hard, so I did not have to work out whether it was events or not, because I remember the day and the on and off of demos.

I am still so in love with the hairbases by LeLutka, especially the widowspeak one, and so revisiting older styles that just become hotter with it on, is my joy at the moment. This Bouffant style, which is ages old, looks HOT! it did then, and it does even more so now. If you have a LeLutka head, get those bases in the undivided section, it can really liven up your hairstyles, and depending on the colours, you can use them with other brands of hair too.

For a bit of pizazz, I remembered that Izzie’s had created some very cool metalic foil look tattoos in the past. I have them as a bloggers item, and I am technically due to the rules allowed to blog them, but I think at one point they were in an event, so obeying the rules, I went and bought them from her marketplace store, which brings me back into the rules.

Not to waste such an awesome set up as Whimsy Winx did for me yesterday, I took the jeep out for a spin (not really, I cannot drive in SL it is a danger to all) and combed the desert – really felt more like spooning the dessert but you know, you work with what you have.

One of the most awesome things I have at the moment, is the rare hair pack by Exile from this round of The Arcade, do your best to get this pack, because not only is the hair great, but the crimped look textures are fun, fun, fun. I am an older teen of the 80’s it was all about the crimping for us.

The other day , a few stores decided to have a flash sale, kind of put a split in the grid, and a whole lot of people fell off the side. One such store was Reign, and if you were lucky enough to get over there, you would have picked up these boots – yeah I know you did – and if you didn’t get to the sale, never fear they are still for purchase, and worth the regular price anyway, because they are HOT!HOT!HOT!

I mixed them up with the great top that sYs made to go with a skirt and collar that I blogged the other day,  and teaming them up with a much older set of shorts that are standard sizing, and still fit my Slink physique original body. The whole look is just yummo, and definitely something one would wear while waiting for some sheikh to turn up to change a flat on a jeep.

It has been a while since I did a layered pic, so having so many beautiful prints to choose from in this swimsuit, I decided today was the day I dusted off my skills. I don’t think I had actually ever done one with shadows and clouds in the past, but with a little trickery and my VR Studio hud holding my camera for me, I was sorted and confident I could pull it off.

So all three are me, no alts, no Whimsy standing in for me today, and it was fun…not too rusty at all. I really like this swimsuit by a new to me store called Aleutia. I did cheat however, as it was a new sign up for What’s New SL, so I didn’t exactly find them on my own. The print choices are great, and I seriously had trouble choosing, so fatpack it was. They do have a solid version available, but could not pass up the prints.

I had a vision, and when you have a vision at our house/studio, it usually involves me saying something like ‘Whimsy, I see cactus… I need sands and rocks please” and within minutes this was set up for me, she is a dynamo. I am wearing some great styles by Wasabi Pills for different looks, and really do love the newish huds options there. The newer front style even has spikes coming out the centre part, but you can turn those off as I did with the hud. Very cool indeed.

I was feeling sporty today, much to Whimsy’s horror – she does not take kindly to flats, and sweating of any kind , even virtual. I remembered that one long ago friday we had purchased some basketball props, one does not pass up props of any kind especially for 50L. Then Whimsy remembered that the Willow House by Dust Bunny had garages – she is all about the builds that girl – and we had the perfect scene.

Honestly when I got to the U.S my first time, I honestly got so emotional at the sight of a basketball hoop over a garage and a baseball glove and bat on a front lawn…for me it showed that all the movies and t.v shows I grew up with were real – yeah I am an odd duck. Here boys ride skateboards and maybe in the 70’s and 80’s played cricket in the street, and us girls rollerskated and rode bikes (not me way too clumsy on a bike) and dolls, lots of dolls….but that was about it, and that was not even that common, and I did live in a suburban area with lots of kids around.

So once the scene was set it was just about the outfit, and that was already nailed, piecing some bits together from recent COCO releases. I love the sweaters over the shoulder looks, and these sweatpants are so cute. Loving so much that she does slink sizes, and her aesthetic style wise is always just so classy.

I found these adorable tip toe runners – for Slink high feet –  from Tooty Fruity on Marketplace, they are on promo special at the moment, so the pair with a fatpack hud was cheap as chips – doing a proper L to $ conversion EVEN CHEAPER than chips.

I am wearing another of the recent release hair attachments by LeLutka, that are for the LeLutka heads, and while still keeping to my widows peak (0003) hairbase, I went with the very preppy attachment 0001. Now I did edit the pic to give myself some movement, with the hair, one can not really jump that high without something moving, mind you that is why the title of the pic refers to the hairspray that is probably responsible for the hole in our Ozone layer. I did include a close up, so that you see the hair naturally too.

So the moral of the story is, buy all the sale props you can when you have the opportunity, because one never knows when one will need to be sporty.

Every year I write some words about how it is winter here, and everything is summery in Sl and blah blah blah. I realised I do not think I ever really focused on the Spring/Autumn difference. So when Whimsy proclaimed I was very colourful today, I was like well derrr it is Spring.

I saw this great backdrop prop by Mons that had me tping instantly to grab it, perfect for shoots, and it has a spring and autumn version. The planter below is not part of it. I love this dress by Candydoll that is at this round of C88, but as it had a very baring openness to it, I decided to search for a more modest but still hot option. Now as much as mesh clips when layering if not made together, so to can clothing layers on mesh bodies. No fault of the body, or the mesh clothing creator if layering is not their goal, but when building so close, it can mean that you cannot wear a shirt , or underwear layer applier without it poking through. So with this sports bra applier I picked up I used the tattoo option, and just like Baby Bears everything, it was Just Right!.

I tinted the bra with the handy RGB hud that comes with the Slink Hourglass (and the other bodies, hands and feet ) and came up with this great pink and yellow combination. Even more perfect was that these insanely hot boots by Breathe have the same palette as Candydoll, so it was just instant perfection.

Now about the hair. I am so excited that LeLutka has added four new hairbase types to the Undivided section of their store. The hairbases are for LeLutka heads only, and they are awesome. My favourite and the one I am laying claim to as mine forever, is the 003 one which is a widows peak style. So much to love, so sexy, so everything, I am going to try and wear this with a billion hairstyles if I can. Also depending on the colours, and the fact that the LeLutka hairbases are tintable with the head hud, I should be able to wear all sorts of hair – not just LeLutka – with them, if I am tricky.

The release also has four new attachment styles sold separately, and they are gorgeous as well, this updo scarf adorned style is so gorgeous. Lucky me too that there was the perfect yellow texture option for the scarf, fated I tell you.

The delicate chain around my neck is by Minimal, they are companion necklaces, of your spirit animal, and they are so pretty, so if you are looking for a more always piece of jewellery these are a definite must see.

Utopia has released stunning new boots…it has been a long while between releases, and I am wearing the Hourglass fit version, and they are perfection. Utopia boots have always been a popular thigh high in my inventory, and these are just all the mesh, and materials and detailing we have come to expect.

The gold detailing on the straps just went upwards from there, inspiring this black, gold and beige look. It was fated that the great little skirt by sYs has similar military gold buttons on the side. The collar and skirt are part of a set, but I opted instead for this leather tank by Spirit. The tank has hud options for changing the colours of the adorable leather wings on the back, so you can create your own little contrast looks, or go for all solid, up to you.

There are days when just closing your eyes to the mayhem around you for five minutes can be enough. Being able to do so surrounded by, and adorned in beautiful items makes that five minutes a delight, a restart to your day, and a reminder of how it really can be the little pleasures that make all the difference.

One of my newest, and biggest pleasures is the TRANSFER ONLY option in the custom tab when sorting inventory. I made a little GIF of it, so you can see where it is located (In Firestorm Viewer) and of course you can put a search query in the space and voila you see all that you have of that type of item that is transfer only. This makes for sorting, and giving items away, or swapping/trading etc a breeze.

With all the Gacha purchases one can tend to make, or be given items when people have extras, they often end up lost amongst objects. This gives you a chance to search store name, then the transfer only part, and sort that stuff into a proper folder for it (which we all aim to do when we shop, but seriously who has time for those dramatic pauses when there is shopping to do).

I got to pull out some beautiful pieces, also of course searching by type of item is always fun, screens, ottomans etc. Incorporating older and newer items together, as that has always been my thing in blogging, that “Everything Old, is New to Someone”. With the speed in which events, new releases and so on occur in SL now, there is a time limit on how much people can spend chasing it all over the grid, so there are going to be items that people miss altogether.

This also gives me a chance to revisit pieces and give them another spin around my platform. It is why Whimsy and I have such shockingly high inventory counts, we don’t want to delete older, because older is not yuck, older is just older (depending on how old of course, I did delete an ottoman today that was made with torus’s and had poseballs linked to it for sitting SOOOOOOOOOOO OLD!).

I decided to take the gorgeous lingerie set by The Secret Store as my starting point, and everything just fell beautifully into place. The style of lingerie is vintage perfect, the colours are soft and romantic. I would love to see a second set (non event) with some more vivid colour options in contrast, as the red and blue version look amazing, but that just makes me want black and white, pink and yellow, red and black or white, and so on and so on, not greedy at all.

My hair is by Elikatira and the style also worked out perfectly, fit wise and just that little rock-a-billy edge to it, with the bangs style. It is at the current round of Hair-O-logy that is packed full of awesome hairstyles. Make sure you visit them and try everything in sight, male hair is available also.

My new little partner in crime is by Jian, I have purchased and blogged Jian pets in the past, and these Labradors are at the current The Arcade, and every play is just a bundle of awesome. I had rezzed him, but he is a wearable version, my new little companion puppy, so much the cute.

Sometimes a working girl needs lotion, and that can be taken in a few very different directions I am sure…depends on how your mind rolls with it. I jumped up into the beautiful tree hut by Soy at this round of Collabor88, and found that the balcony, bench and bed all had their own cool animations, and this one just came out fun. I did tweak the head angle a little, but all in all it definitely makes for a bit more action.

I kind of imagined that I am working in the fields all day, or maybe at some camp ground, and this is my me time. I like the cosyness of the tree hut, kind of like a tiny house, but not, because it’s just a hide-away not really set up for all the other necessities of living…I guess those would be in the main part of my imaginary camp grounds.

I am making sure to keep my skin supple and moisturised, because one wants to be able to return to the city looking refreshed not haggard. The skin is by The Skinnery, and the latest C88 effort is this gorgeous applier for the LeLutka heads. I love this skin, the cheekbones are beautiful and it just has that perfect look for Simone especially. I am glad the brows options are a darker blonde, as it goes with a lot of options. It does also have a no brows choice, so you can add your own brows appliers.

Hair beautifully pulled back from the face, into these rather large, and casual to dressy inspired buns by Exile. It is a must do do for sure. Blueberry has this great open shirt, that has lumberjack flanno print options, which kind of started my combination, but I just couldn’t go there with the flanno – didn’t do it in the 80’s and even though I have in the past dabbled, it really is not my thing – which makes it even better that there are so many solid options to choose from. The undershirt has an off option and again even more colours to mix and match with, making it a great go to shirt.
