Blogger Carnival – SL9 Birthday Event
Click HERE to watch the Tutorial
So a week or so ago I got an IM from the lovely Cajsa Lilliehook of It’s Only Fashion. In the IM she asked me if I could join her and some other incredible bloggers that would be contributing to her exhibition space at this years SL9 Birthday Celebration.
Whimsy and I try and go to the Birthdays every year, and every year I wish I had known early enough to get something together to do, of course I never know what I want to do, but it is just so resident community focused and I love it. But this year I get to be part of it thanks to Cajsa.
She asked if I could do a tutorial on an alternative to Photoshop, and I have been meaning to do one on Photoscape for a long time now, because I try and convince Gidge Uriza – also of It’s Only Fashion – to use it all the time, and now have finally taken the time to do it. I did first do a voice version, but with all the editing it ended up sounding like I was filming it with the flu and at different recording times and oh my goodness the volume was insane. So I scrapped that and went with a non voiced version instead – lucky you.
You will find other incredible alternatives to Photoshop on their website, and you just have to visit their exhibit they have set up, the celebration starts on Monday. So I hope you will all visit and see the incredible work that Cajsa has put into getting this together with other displays from fabulous people.
Thank you Cajsa for asking me to be part of the Blogger Carnival.

Belle of the Party
I have mentioned previously that Chic Management is celebrating its 2nd Birthday at this time, with a wonderful event, that has booths that are so pretty and fun. If you look at it from a celebration prospective, you can convince yourself it is a three tiered cake of yummyness. The Chic2 celebration is on until late June so you still have plenty of time to attend.
Today LeLutka released three beautiful hairstyles based on Princesses we are familiar with, more so than the British Royals. Aurora, Ariel and Belle are the three new styles, and following up the Greek Goddess Theme, Princesses were the natural progression…cannot wait for the next one either. I am wearing Belle in this post, with the additional tail piece, which can be worn or not depending on your mood, but also looks fabulous with Athena last weeks Grecian Updo. So definitely more bang for your buck.
I am wearing one of the special skins created for the Chic 2 event by Glam Affair, the make up I chose is this wonderful bright pink, with a lovely complexion and seductive eye make up. The skins is fun to wear with casual looks, but also can be dressed up to the nines as well.
Another item from Chic 2 is this dress by Tomoto, while it definitely has a goth lolita kind of thing going on in the black version, the other colours just make for an adorably pretty girly dress. I like the idea of wearing it with chunky kick bottom boots, or stunning high heels, but these New rigged mesh ballerina slipper add ons for the SLink mesh rigged bare feet were just a perfect choice for fluttering about for the day or night.
They come in ten colours, and as mentioned they are an add on for the rigged bare feet you can also purchase at SLink. The new add on ideas are great fun, but also for those of us that tend to walk around a lot with no shoes on, we just have to remove or put on the add ons, and will always have on the fabulous bare feet.

Blood Sugar Sex Magic
A big Happy 2nd Birthday to Chic Management, who are celebrating with a big event Chic2 with many incredible designers, and the most adorable booths set up in a circular setting three levels high. While you are there you can also check out some lovely statements made by people about Chic Management and their relationships over the years.
More mesh delights today, with the big release from Maitreya.
IMPORTANT : before I start going on and on, I wanted to mention that the NEW items have a NEW Size added, there is now a S + option for those that are still small, but have larger breasts, so that you do not have to size up. So be sure to demo if you haven’t fit in the past.
I remember when mesh first came about a few people all wanted the elongated tube tops from Maitreya that were originally released in sculpts to be done in mesh. While that hasn’t happened, this is close enough. A definitely boho edge to the release, with these Cupio tops with the beautiful beaded halter ties strung on leather. I think the colours pack is so cute that the beading is more quirky and colourful for those. The tops look wonderful with the new flare jeans, so 70’s inspired and just beautiful, I am secretly jonesing for a pair with patches.
The Mignon dress is gorgeous, it has an air of being effortlessly thrown together, which is exactly what boho fashion is like. I like both prints a lot, but the stripes are definitely my firm favourite of the two. I even teamed the dress up with the jeans, and love the look so much, but alas you can’t wear with the mesh jeans as they do go through the dress in places, so I went with texture based jeans instead, and the rolled up skinny jeans also from Maitreya are definitely beachy keen.
The other surprise with this release, a surprise to me anyway, is that there is hair, and hat hair no less. Maitreya has always made divine hat hair styles, and this one is just beautiful, with the occasional stray strand trying to escape from underneath the wide brim floppy hat. The hat works with a HUD so you can change the texture of the hat, as well as the band. The bag is divine, big and suede and just enough colour to really brighten up your summer, the size is definitely a win, but also that there are three different options of how to hold them…very cool.
The skin I am wearing in this post is by Leafy, and part of the Skin Addiction Showcase event. I really like the pouty full lips and the really adorable nose on this skin, so pretty and the tones are just wonderful. There is cleavage and teeth options with the skin too, so be sure to demo demo demo.
The platform I am posing next to and on is from Headhunters Island, if you have never been there for their prefabs, furniture and other incredible tropical themed items, you are missing out. The poses I am using are all FROOTI poses, and are the release for the Chic 2 event, so you can get them there when you go.

Up in the Air – Collabor88/May
More summery goodness in the form of not only this beautiful mesh bikinis from Baiastice, but also this amazing mesh hammock by Cheeky Pea that is at Collabor88 right now until the 7th, so don’t miss out on the great price for this beautiful item.
The Lilith Hammock is really fun , not only does it have great singles poses, but also has a really nice swinging motion that is optional with a click. I do also really like that it comes without trees or posts, because then you can just add it to your own area, whether it be a veranda, or a set of palms etc, the choice is yours. the cushions are editable so you can re-position them if needed depending on the pose you use, and the settings for the poses come in a drop down menu that you can adjust so that your parts don’t go through the hammock or cushions. This is definitely a must have not only for great pic taking opportunities, but also for making the upcoming warmer months very relaxing.
The shechy bikini by Baiastice is a really pretty bikini, with choice of either floral print or solid colours. The great bottoms are actually bottom covering, so that is a plus if you are not into g-string styles. The swimwear comes in standard sizing, so make sure and try all the demos. One thing I have noticed with many tops that focus on the breast area is that changing your cleavage and buoyancy can actually help them fit a lot better than just changing your size.
The beautiful skin I am wearing is a release by sYs that is featured at Skin Addiction Showcase at the moment. I really love the soft features of the face, it is a really nice skin to wear for clean fresh and outdoorsy looks.

Head for the Hills – FaMESHed/June & Chic2
Whimsy and I spent a luxurious day by the pool today. With the help of some lovely poses set within this magnificant swimming pool that is part of the Zuma Hills Mesh house from Trompe Loeil. This house as Whimsy says, is like a Barbie Dream Home, once she removed most of the pink – for the lovers of pink and purple though, there is still enough to keep you happy. I added the New Hampton Garden Mesh setting of wrought iron table and chairs to the pool area…this is an actual sneak peak at the upcoming Chic 2 Birthday event item from What Next. So many seating options for both men and women, but I did use my VR Hud Library to use a Maitreya sit pose, as I wanted to really focus on the swimsuit and feet in the picture.
The feet being because of the new ADD ON sandals called Ilena that SLink has just released to go with their rigged mesh bare feet. You just wear your feet first, and then add your sandals and you are ready for the beach, or any summery looking adventures. They are a beautiful sleek version of a gladiator sandal, and the thin leather straps are just lovely, and with them being rigged mesh, the feet and sandals move with your own foots movement…very cool for more realistic looks.
The swimsuits we are wearing in the pic are from One Bad Pixel, these ring bikinis are tie-dyed fabric with great splashes of colour throughout, they are at this months FaMESHed event, so be sure to go there for them. Not only am I a big fan of the ring and string bikini look, but the great string ties on the side, make them look even more realistic – yay mesh.
In this picture and the one I am in on Whimsy’s Blog I am wearing two of the three new styles from Exile, the london rain bun style is gorgeous…you have to try it in person, because even I expected a very different style from the ad pic. The bun is definitely higher and more piled upon than the pic indicates, so this is a must for bun lovers, for casual, dressy or even formal do’s. The catwalk style is a great high pony, with the hair cascading down one side, and the hairline on this style – and for that matter all Exile hair – is just super. DEMO DEMO DEMO.
Don’t forget to go to Whimsy’s Blog at Virtually Dressed to see her post coming soon.

Carna Carnelian – FaMESHed June
It is the second round of FaMESHed a monthly all Mesh event. The list of stores is a very broad range of Mesh creators, ranging in items from accessories to furnishings and clothing and hair in between. You can get more info HERE or just teleport over and shop lots.
One of the stores featured today is Fanatik, a few of you will know of Fanatik from Sticky Fingers, but it has now become one store under the Fanatik label, so the necklace I am wearing is an older release, with the newer Jumpsuit in black that is at FaMESHed – other colours in the mainstore. I am also wearing their biker earrings which are just glorious.
The skirt is from a new to me designer Nyu, their satin skirt is very nice, and it comes in an assortment of sizes, I am wearing size 2 so be sure to try on the demos available. The other new to me brand is HANDverk who made these wonderful leather and carnelian jewelry…the necklace is a stunning piece, and would make a beautiful addition to not only classy looks like this one, but also more formal looks.
The two beautiful mesh hairstyles I am wearing are Demeter from Lelutka which has a great rose on the side, and texture change bands and rose…you can even turn the rose off and just keep the bands. The Claire hair from Wasabi Pills is a striking asymmetrical style, I did have to stretch the hat just a smidge to get the bangs inside of it, but it all works well, with or without the hat looks wise.

For Ximena and the World
Over the years I have easily spoken to hundreds of Fashion Bloggers, sometimes only for a few moments answering a question, and sometimes they don’t get away so easily. “One” of the things that stands out for me, from blogger to blogger, is whether they talk on their posts or not. It is interesting to me, why someone would choose to not communicate their thoughts on an item, or items, places, experiences etc…but rather just show a picture and credit the stores.
A few times I have just asked, more so because little hints as to why come through in the IM, and I am really asking for validation to my guess. The guess is 99% of the time that English is not their first language, and that they struggle sometimes with communicating even in IM. Often they apologise, and that really saddens me, because I am as much a guest in their country, as they are in mine – virtually speaking.
Lately though I have gone a step further than just asking – ok not exactly lately, I always have an opinion about something – but have urged and hopefully encouraged fellow Fashion Bloggers to blog in their native language, to share their experiences in Second Life, the things they learn, the tips and tricks they can advise on, that may just help others from their own country understand Second Life a little better.
“English speaking only” is not a rule, and if it was I would make up a language just to break it, because that would be disgraceful. The reason I started blogging was to share, to communicate what I was learning with others, because one random thing you say on a blog, could just completely change someones experiences here for the positive, and those that can share those bits of information in their native tongue, can spread that information so much further, helping not only the community of Second Life, but also the future residents.
I can only imagine how many people from all over the world have seen images of Second Life, and then only seen information on it in English, that may think it would be difficult for them to be here. Maybe at first it could be, until they find their way, I am not saying everything will be simple, but it can be made easier with a little help from those that have the tools to share via their blogs/websites and so on.
It can also help expand peoples Second Life experiences, and give people more information about events, and fundraising efforts that are part of the year all over the grid, if that information is not shared in as many languages as possible, then people are missing out on incredible experiences, as well as the chance to even participate in them.
English readers can translate blog posts done in other languages, as easily as right clicking their browser page and choosing that option, sometimes the translation is not great, but in a lot of cases easy enough to follow the gist of what is being communicated. I myself, want to see more bloggers speak in their native tongue, I want to see the ones that don’t say anything out of fear to do so, say as much as they want to. I want to show the world that Second Life is a second life for EVERYONE.
If you search languages in the Second Life Wiki there is a lot of random information, but also a page that unfortunately hasn’t been updated since 2009 that allows people to add their names under the languages that they speak.
I had a conversation with a Fashion Blogger two days ago, and it went exactly as I said up top…yesterday I logged in to an offline from her with a link. I was so happy, I have even read her blog post out to Mel, and grinned huge the whole time, because she shared, she wrote beautifully in her native language, and yes google made it a bit mixed up, but I understood what she was saying, I could read her passion in her words, and I am so happy and excited that she will continue to do this now. Ximena McAndrews posts often, and not all posts will always have words other than credits, but in only two days she has done posts where she does talk, and she LAUGHS and that was for me the most awesome part of all of it, she is sharing her joy…please share yours ♥

Mel Vanbeeck and Sasy Scarborough on Secondlife.com
At the beginning of this month I turned Six in SL years. The day was almost overlooked, as it was only because I said the date out loud in conversation that it triggered the memory that the date seemed familiar. I have always been so incredibly proud of my time in Second Life, overjoyed by the experiences I have been a part of, and so grateful for the amazing friends and loved ones I have made.
So to receive an email from Linden Lab asking if I would be interested in submitting a picture for their website, just blew my mind. It is an incredible honor to be asked, because there are so many amazing and talented residents in Second Life, and that I could pose with Mel just made it even more special to me. Then the cherry on top was that Whimsy Winx also got asked, and that just made it extra special.
Not only do I now get to log in to Whimsy everyday, but I also got to see once all the pics were put up, that the amazingly talented Strawberry Singh is also featured with Winter Jefferson.
I am so happy to be amongst such talented people. To share this experience with my partner Mel Vanbeeck has just added one more beautiful memory to the many great ones I have of my time here.
The timing of this is perfect as the theme is of course Masquerade, which is the theme on Marketplace at this time, and you can also see a beautiful picture of the lovely Harper Beresford there reclining elegantly.
Thank you to everyone at Linden Lab, especially Xiola and Lexie Linden for organising this, also a huge thanks to the designers that we are wearing, as well as all those that do such incredible work to make Second Life the most magical place there is.

Today is the last day of My Attic @ The Deck, so I made a little mix and match post of some of those items, mixed with new and older items from all over the place. The skin I am wearing in the post is from another event going on at the moment, the Skin Addiction Skin Showcase, so be sure – if you haven’t already – that you check that out too.
The pencil skirt by Cracked Mirror comes in four different colour blends, all named appropriately for the theme of My Attic for this edition, which is Memories of Love & Lust. I especially love this greyscale version, and the texture is so beautiful, and the shading is great. I did have some fit issues around the waist, but with the Lycia tank top from Mon Tissu I was able to make that not an issue at all.
I really enjoyed building this full look, with the addition of the stunning Parisian Summer Scarf by Pididdle that is also at My Attic. The over-sized bow is just fun and yet incredibly stylish. The gloves and clutch just add to this chic look.
The Sexy mini dress by Cynful for My Attic comes in three different colours, but I went with the all black version, as it was fun to add even more too with the bits and pieces, old and new. The dress is great on its own, but I paired it up with more of the lace leggings, and this great clothing layer belt I had from DCNY. The cuffs are actually part of a much older shirt from CoCo and the pan collar is a newish item by LaGyo that comes in different metal options as well as the onyx – worn – love that, so cute.
The Hairstyles I am wearing are the new Athena style from Lelutka, which is just stunning, with texture change bands and is just beautiful to wear. The second style is last weeks Daisy release, I promised a front pic eventually so here it is, so rocker chic, and fun.
Make sure you demo demo demo the beautiful Delusional skin from Izzies that is at SA Showcase, as with all the make up options it really is a great skin to wear.

Twicing – When once is not enough
Ok so my obsession confession today is about my latest watching habit. I found Days of our lives episodes on Youtube, and I have been watching them back to back since last september for the past three days. Oh my goodness the amount of drama that can happen in that show in like three days their time. Seriously how any of those families are still living in that town is beyond me, because that place is crazy. But thankfully so, because it does make it fun to watch. Even the crazy in Australian soaps is bordering on boring at the most…we don’t seem to do as far fetched as they do in the States, or even Korea, lol another place that does amazing drama. Whimsy got me hooked on those for a little bit, but I have to confess, it is way too hard to get anything done when you have to read your television.
My Attic is in its last days for this edition, so I am showing three of the items released for this event. I love the versatility of the first, not only one option of wear, but actually three main ones, and then extras dependent on whether you wear the stockings or not. This sequined beauty is from Elymode and is just super sexy. The 54 Dress has options of bodysuit, jumper/sweater or the mini dress. It is a mesh hybrid, having mesh sleeves and the micro mini insert where the front panel is mesh and the back is regular prim. This allows for a beautiful fit and incredibly striking look. The sleeves are flared and beautiful, with the gartered stockings a great addition to the look. I especially love the splits, that are very reminiscent of those classic french films where the man throws the woman around the room lots and they dance all passionate and stuff. I am wearing the dress and the bodysuit in the pics, but cannot wait to try out the sweater option with other skirts from Elymode or even pants at some stage, or leggings.
The second item that is at the My Attic event, is this wonderful Dance themed pose prop with built in poses by Cracked Mirror. All of the great dance studio inspired poses come with mirrored options, so that makes it really easy to get a good angle, as well as it is all menu driven for ease, as well as adjustable, which is a great feature, especially if your tall or even for that matter short. Great looking poses, that definitely gave me a chance to stretch my mesh feet from Slink, this is definitely where good mesh movement comes into play.
The beautiful skin I am wearing is from Skin Addiction Skin Showcase, they are three of the new Lea skins from Ploom. Dahlia, Iris and Larkspur, which are such pretty floral inspired colour combos, two of which are actually duo colours and so very striking. The skins come with light and dark brows, nail covers for prim nails, as well as cleavage options. Also included are some great lashes, so you are ready to go. The Skin Addiction Group has demos available from most stores participating, as well as group gifts on location at the event, if you are wearing your tag, and there is a gift at the Ploom booth.
Lastly the beautiful new hair from Elikatira is Return. This hair is a loose wavey style, that has bobbypins keeping the hair off your face, as it is knotted at the front loosely. The hair is so pretty and I can see being a new favourite amongst the youthful on the grid. DEMO DEMO DEMO as it is Mesh.
The other poses I am using in this post are the beautiful Je t’aime poses and heart prop set from Adorkable Poses that are also part of the My Attic release – all items at My Attic are only 95L for the duration of the event. This set of poses comes with mirrored options as well as these really cool modifiable hearts that you wear. The other pose is part of the Mistress Chair that was recently a Pose Fair release for Elymode. The chair not only has an abundance of great poses, but the chair is also texture change, in parts so that you can make your own combinations of looks.
