Second Life – Mainstore Monday – Ison
Over the years, I’ve praised Harry Hyx of ISON many times—and it’s always well-deserved. So, it’s no surprise that he’s the focus of my Mainstore Monday post today! I still remember when ISON first hit the scene, bringing style and elegance in abundance. Achieving that with system layers and sculpts back in the day was no small feat.
One of my all-time favourite releases from Harry was for Vintage Fair in 2012—a collection of dresses that were simply stunning. I still find myself wishing he’d recreate them—hint, hint, nudge, nudge! From the very beginning, Harry was a triple threat, delivering clothing, shoes, and accessories with a unique blend of runway and empowerment.
Back then, events were about socialising. Shopping was what you did beforehand—tricky, right? It wasn’t uncommon to teleport into a store and find someone bald or shoeless as they scrambled to grab that final piece for their look before heading off to meet friends. Let’s be honest, though—most of us already had our next teleport lined up and at least three IMs flashing, asking where we were.
Harry and I chat occasionally—not as often as I’d like, but he works full-time, so he’s not in Second Life as much during the week. That said, he doesn’t leave his customers without the help they may need. The ISON group chat is one of the few I keep active because it’s a mix of pleasant banter, help, and support. His customer service representative, Sarahjayjay, is always a friendly and positive encounter. She kind of bubbles into the group chat and makes sure everyone is taken care of. Having that kind of support is crucial for any Second Life business, and Harry’s choice in staff reflects his commitment to his customers.
The layout of ISON’s store is another highlight. It’s sleek and high-end enough that you can feel the special all around you, and the surrounding rocky landscape gives it such contrast. It’s also a fantastic spot for photo shoots if you’re looking for a rugged, natural setting. The store’s design inspired my safari-themed styling today, with its earthy tones and adventurous edge.
Throughout my Second Life career, I’ve leaned towards business-focused looks—hence my obsession with great pants/trousers. I used to manage a store that offered both male and female clothing, and back in the system-layer days, I often wore men’s suits because they looked amazing. ISON delivers that same corporate-chic flavour in many of its releases—strong, stylish, and versatile enough to transition seamlessly from work to after-hours. When Harry ventures into more delicate, feminine designs, he nails it every time.
Customer service remains a cornerstone of the ISON brand. Harry has systems in place that allow customers to handle most issues themselves, including a vendor system with records that go way back. The store’s group offers store credit rewards with every purchase, and the joining fee is just 25L—a small deterrent to spammers that you’ll recoup in store credit with a single purchase.
You can explore ISON’s journey through Harry’s regularly updated Flickr feed, and dedicated website. The website is particularly handy, offering detailed information about each release. It’s these thoughtful touches that make ISON a standout brand in Second Life—and one I’m proud to spotlight today.
Now about the outfit. This Blazer with Harness had me so excited, especially after being outside in that beautiful landscape— actually I was still outside, I just cammed in because I was feeling at one with the rocks. I loved that so much that I went with the brown in the neutrals pack because as mentioned, I was feeling very safari with that harness cinched look. Even more exciting, is that the harness has its very own HUD that is all the colours available, regardless of what pack in the Blazer you purchase, so that is just a lot of awesome to have. I paired up with the leather pants, also from ISON, and they were the perfect length for the strappyness of my shoes (by Cult). Originally I had on a tshirt underneath and I very much loved that look, but this was such a statement look that I felt it needed some statement jewellery to mix in there, and this spear necklace by Sigma was up to the challenge, it fit perfectly under the blazer, the length of the spears added to the openness of the jacket, giving just enough to feel that someone looking there is actually looking at the jewellery. It is also MOD so I was able to tint a little further to fit the look, and making it fit in with the metals in the harness, also changeable via HUD. This new hair style by Truth gave me soft long waves, and while it has the left right and both front look, you know my love for behind shoulders, and this style has that and just a beautiful softness to it that again did not distract from the style.
