Radegast Viewer
Today I am going to do a post about the Radegast Viewer .Radegast has been around since 2009 and was originally a very light viewer with no visual detailing, more a text based client that allowed for people to interact from one space. This made it easy for people on the go to perform necessary tasks like customer issues, and being in world for meetings etc but without using all the resources needed for a regular viewer. Fiachra often logged in on this viewer to just chat, and would stand on our then platform and not be able to see himself or anything around him. All of that has changed over the years, and Radegast has an incredible amount of power now, but is still light weight for those unable to always run Second Life at full capacity.
The reason this viewer needed/deserved a mention is that while Hair Fair was on, Fiachra logged in on it – as he had been having problems logging into the regular viewer – and yet managed to do Hair Fair. The whole time he was at the event, I kept asking about everything he was doing and experiencing and was in awe of the answers. This viewer may be the answer for those that can’t do big events usually because of rendering and lag issues, and while I haven’t tested it in that capacity myself, it is definitely worth trying. One of the biggest contributors to lag is loading what you see, well in this case you only see what you choose to. I will explain as we go.
How objects are viewed is really amazing, and will take some practice, but definitely worth checking out. Especially the buying objects and looking at contents etc.
During the pic taking of this viewer, I was in world on my own account in firestorm, I logged in the rental alt for The Deck to have both on same time. So anything you see behind the Radegast screen is me in Firestorm.
All images are huge on flickr so click the image if you want a closer look.
Log in screen and Radegast viewer screen. Everything you see in the white box is how the viewer is visible while logged in. Visible avatars in the region listen on the right – I removed names of people and things I did not know or have connection to.
File Menu : as shown shows the basic functions such as log out and preferences, as well as upload options. This surprised me, as my history with this viewer as mentioned was many years ago and such a limited use, now you could do a lot of work with an alt at the same time, rather than have two full viewers running at once. Definitely good for business partners, or people that run businesses off another account that want to keep creator info current.
World Menu: This is the same set up as regular world options, but without land and wind-light editing functions – cannot see them anyway, so not needed. I did find it interesting that there was a fly option, but as you can move around in this client now, it makes sense.
Tools Menu : Self explanatory.
Plug Ins: This section was very interesting, as you can see in chat I was able to communicate with myself, without typing anything from TheDeck…it was an auto responding Alice ChatBot prompt. The other astounding thing was that it has built in Speech Recognition, that once activated was letting me know when I received an IM and what the IM said, this was amazing, and should be something available in all viewers in my opinion.
Friends List Group List: all functions that you would expect to see in a regular viewer, including those offline – I removed them
Inventory: You have a full inventory visual, as well as worn and recent items. Everything you are wearing will show in the bottom right side in that large area of the image. I was able to move inventory and delete items easily, only downfall I noticed and it could have just been me not knowing how to use the viewer, but I was not able to shift or ctrl select multiple folders at once to move them. But for sorting inventory, and clearing a lot of waste, this would be the least distracting viewer to get that job done. It also might be a great emergency clean up option, as the other day I was having many issues staying logged in, was able to log in on one viewer I don’t usually use and delete 4000 items and then had no issues after that.
Giving items from inventory was a little difficult. While I had the profile open to send, every time I clicked on an item in the inventory the profile would minimise to my task bar. I did find that if I held onto the item with my left mouse button, and dragged it to the minimised profile it would then open and I could release it to the person. This seems a little risky though, so not sure again if it was just me not knowing the tools properly, but that was my interaction with it. Receiving items was a breeze and very clear indication that one was sent.
Search: This was very easy to navigate, but did show me as offline when I was so obviously online, but did so for Whimsy as well, so the online status may not always be correct. I especially liked the large visual and information option, much clearer than in the regular clients.
World Map : works the same as in all viewers, and very clear.
As you may or may not be noticing, all the functions being used from the top bar, are appearing on the second bar as being current. You can move back and forth between these tasks by simply clicking them, and use the red X on the right to close it when you are done.
Next is on to the objects portion which is where it all gets very different than regular viewers.
IMPORTANT : You can purchase items using this viewer, but there is NO warning when choosing BUY, teh money will be taken immediately. Only scripted items with PAY as an option will let you know the price before you proceed, and you can cancel like a regular purchase. Unless you have someone with you – and I do think that the best way to use this viewer for events is to do that, as Fiachra had me with him at Hair Fair – able to tell you how much an item is, you could spend more than you expected. So do not use the BUY option without caution.
Objects: This really impressed me a lot, as we went around Hair Fair, I would tell Fia the name of hair that I think he would like, and he would look for that item in the list of items around him, then highlight/click the item and choose the 3D View option and the vendor would open on his screen, he was able to rotate it, look at the image as clear as if he was in world on a full viewer, and make his decision or purchase the demo. You can see yourself in full scene options, but mesh and sculpts may take time to load, so trying demos on may be difficult, again something you would have to experience yourself.
As you can see from the images, I was able to select an item within a scene such as the shelf and look at it in detail, even able to look from different angles. It also gave information on creator of the item, the components of the items, as well as contents of the vendor.
Contents option is great for checking perms etc as a creator wanting to make sure everything is set up correctly, again without having to log in an alt on a full throttle viewer. You can see that you can also walk to an item. You can also search for individual things by name, this would be handy if you have lost something.
Pay Option: As communicated earlier, this option does show the amount and the ability to proceed or cancel but only in the pay option, not when you use buy, buy will take your money immediately so be very careful. Also be very sure you are selecting the right thing, look at it in 3d view first, as well as contents, so you know it is definitely the item you are wanting. This is again a reason to do this with a friend that is on a regular viewer as they can copy paste you the exact name of an item.
Media Voice : Easy to see how they work3d Scene option : This is the full 3d scene in front of you, and can include your avatar – I zoomed past my av as my mesh was not loading well enough. As you can see, you could use this to keep checking/looking at booths at an event in full to get the general lay of the land, but it might take a little bit of time to rez.
IM Instant Messages : nice large screen easy to read and follow who is communicating with you.
All in all for those having issues getting into the grid at times, or just needing to pop in to do something quick and easy, or not wanting to rez everything and everyone at an event, this viewer is definitely a must to try at least once. So grab a download and take it for a whirl and let me know how you do.

It matters what you say, not just to me
I am not made for the internet. I don’t understand that whole separation from reality mindset that many have. I definitely don’t understand how people think that what they say in one place doesn’t attach itself to another. I see people in social networks doing and saying things and honestly believing that it doesn’t have anything to do with their Second Life. If the reason you have any friends, or followers on an identity created for Second Life, wouldn’t it make sense that everything you do is connected to it ?
There was a huge incident recently to do with Chick fil A – some info here – and it spread all over the networks, so many opinions shared or otherwise, but the majority felt that what the person did made a huge impact on the company…a negative one. So why would it be any different in Second Life and the branches that extend from. If you run a business here, wouldn’t everything you do be under some kind of microscope. It seems to be, when people want to rally against something. But when individuals just want to let it rip in some other medium and say derogatory things about other businesses or people, it is ok to let the freak flag fly, or is it ?
For every hundred followers on a social network, there are at least two thirds of those people just silently watching what is going on, then of the third left behind, half either follow along not wanting to rock the boat – the people being bad may have branches they like to climb – and the others are a mix of differing opinions vocally or biding their time. All the statistics of course are made up, but it is the two thirds that interest me the most. Yes many of those may not ever see anything at all, they may have joined the network, added some people, accepted some invites and moved on, but there are also many that watch, take it in, and judge based on what they see.
Real life companies these days are scouring peoples facebook accounts, twitter feeds and so on, because they want to see what kind of character their employees have, how they are conducting themselves as representatives of a brand. This is no different in Second Life. Real money is involved and real reactions occur to what is put out there. It is easy to say that you are a person who has a right to speak your mind and so on, and yes that is true, but Second Life is 24/7 . I think it is a case of you don’t get to have your cake and eat it too, you may think you are having the cake, but many are getting a bite or two only, and the ones conducting themselves professionally at all times are getting the cherry on top as well.
To summarise, and yes I know I write like I talk, and that is just so confusing:
Don’t put down the creations or work of others, whether it be a store, a blogger or someone sharing their latest doodle in a public space, those people may also be on your timeline and it is hurtful. Don’t air your grievances with 400+ people you don’t actually know, if you are upset about something that is important to you, talk to people that are also really important to you privately. Don’t share customer interactions in a negative light with all your followers. If you delete the name, the person that is having that interaction with you may also be on your timeline, this may also put off others from purchasing from you, because if there is an issue they just witnessed how you would deal with it.
I am not a saint, I am the first to admit that if I don’t like something I will say so to my closest friends I happen to be with at the time, that is normal, but as far as letting hundreds of people know, just because I can, that would not happen. It is not only about conducting yourself professionally, because you may own a business, it is also about conducting yourself in a way that speaks volumes about your character.
Now about the fashion, the spade shirts are the latest from Mon Tissu, they are really beautiful slimline shirts with great prints and a really nice shape. My favourite part is the drape shading on the back, because it is really well done, and has such a nice look. My other favourite feature to this shirt is the sleeves length and cuffs, they are longer than the wrist and are just perfect. I like how the shirt looks with the dade slacks from Celoe, these pants don’t get worn often enough and I had to rectify that today. But then also with the blue and white stripe reminding me so much of girl wears boyfriends shirt, I went with the Ellio bikini bottoms for the back shot.
Not only a great way to show the back of the shirt , but also a chance to show both sides of the new Into Dust Hair from Exile a beautiful half uppydo, that has a lovely built bun at the back of the crown.

Seasons for days
Stagioni means Seasons, and these new boots by Maitreya are styled perfectly for all four. Whether rugged up for the colder weather, or just having carefree day out and about, they are super comfy and stylish for all looks. The inspiration I would think is from biker boots, with the double strapping and shape, but they are suede and soft and definitely a must have in the beautiful soft colour pallette they come in. I can even see guys taking the black ones for a spin. The boots come rigged and un rigged – the unrigged versions come with a HUD for size changing and easier fit over mesh pants etc.
The other new release item for Maitreya is the delightful Xarra tunic. I loved these as soon as I saw them, they come in various options, from solid to tye dye and others in between, and there is honestly something for everyone colour wise. They are so cool to just slip on and off you go, with the great shape, this also means you can wear their skinny jeans underneath for a great layered look. I also wore one with the great wool tights from Mon Tissu. The cloth woven belt look is just even cooler, adding a touch of Mediterranean flavour to the look.
The hair I have on is the latest style from Logo, they have been doing some great mesh work lately with their hair, and I am looking forward to seeing more from them in the future. The Jewelry is by Maxi’s and the angel wings set is amazing, but my favourite of the two sets is the Madrah set, a very Egyptian style looking set, and the options for colours and insert types is great.

Floraly – Collabor88 & FaMESHed
As mentioned in past posts, I really like the idea of hybrid mesh, the merging of texture based items with mesh accents or attributes. In this example it is the Nina tube top by Zaara. The top is system clothing base layers, with the addition of a mesh band and lovely long tie at the front. If you purchase a single colour of these tops you get the same colour tie band, but if you go fat pack – which is a great range of colours – you get the bonus of printed ties as well…so not only can you contrast with the other solid colours, but you can print up for an added splash.
Another great Zaara item are the fabulous Kavya summer pants. They are gaucho pants in style, and I really like the double tab buttoned sides, ribbed waistband and stitching, as they all add to the overall look. The pants look great casual or dressy. I also want to go though my inventory and find older strapless items to wear the bands from the Nina tube top and give them a make over.
The other fabulous mesh items worn in this post are the divine new Rosy platforms by SLink, these are coming out in the next 24 hours, and they are another pair of add ons for the middle height mesh rigged feet. The strapping is so pretty and the heels and overall platform height are just great. There are nine great colours and because of the floral print they mix and match with a great range of colours. So look out for the notice about them coming soon.
The Jewelry I am wearing is the Annette set by Maxi’s that are featured at this months FaMESHed/August. They come in silver as well as gold, and the link work is really great, big jewelry but with slender linkage is very cool. The other event items are the hairstyles by Clawtooth at Collabor88/August. the two styles are similar, but one has more bang than the other, but both have that lovely layered look with pretty braid over the front of the shoulder. You definitely have to get over to Collabor88/August as it is the 1st Anniversary celebration, which has every past guest at the event with items.
The skin is the new skin by Izzies, this is the Elena skin and has the base skin with 4 brow colours, freckles layers, lipsticks and eyeshadow tattoo layers, so many combination of skins can be made from the different options. I really like the lipsticks and they do look great with other skins as well, so definitely DEMO DEMO DEMO the skin as it is a great look.

Collabor88/August – Happy Baroqueday
One year since the start of Collabor88 and it has been a rapidly passing year indeed. An amazing feat that is being celebrated by all the past guests and the regulars of the event in one month long celebration. So many amazing items, and the theme is perfection for a celebratory event such as this, as it is Baroque and we know that just makes you think of parties and decadence.
The beautiful build I am standing in for my pictures is by Trompe Loeil, it is so pretty and just the right size for some creative decorating and even some small social gatherings. The first item worn is the beautiful corset by Ingenue, I am wearing it with some older lingerie from the store. There are different colours available and they are all so lovely.
The second look is with the filigree bodysuit by Willow. Willow has announced it is closing down, so this will probably be the last release you can get, and it is really lovely, and also comes in various colours, but the royal purple looked so good with the divine jewelry from Yummy with the amethyst gemstones and diamonds.
The last look is mixing some Vintage Fair with Collabor88. The Jacket is by Boom for Collabor88 and is amazing, I could not resist wearing the red, but all the colours are rich and beautiful. It is so funky and I knew immediately what I wanted to wear with it, the poof set from MAiiKI which for those that don’t know, is a collaboration that Maitreya did years ago. The thigh high boots are by Ison, just one of the incredible releases they did for Vintage Fair, they are really nice in design, and I especially like the detailing of the leather strapping, buckle and stocky heel.
The other footwear is also by Ison, and it is for Collabor88, there are so many colours of both damask style print and leather, so easy to tint and lots of great nailpolish options all in the easy to use hud. The other great accessories are the oversized hair attachment and cherub ring and earrings by LaGyo, they always so such creative pieces, so this kind of event is perfect for them. They also did the lipsticks and eye-shadows I am wearing in this post, so colourful and fit really well to the lips of the Glam Affair skin I am wearing.
Lastly the hair I am wearing are three styles by Elikatira. The short asymetrical style is a recent release in the store, but the two other styles, are for collabor88 and they are just gorgeous. These are must haves, absolutely breathtaking styles.

Vintage Fair 2012 – Flowery Butterfly
I really liked the movement in these poses by BENT that are part of their Vintage Fair 2012 release. The clothing I am wearing is from One Bad Pixel, and the dress and jacket are an all in one combo, but please note, I am wearing the jacket from the white dress not the red. I am kind of hoping that they end up packaging the jackets as separate items, as they do look so great with pants or other items. I would also love it if they came in solids.
The wonderful thing about them being One Bad Pixel items is that they are sized perfectly, so much so that the babytux bra fits perfectly underneath, so you can keep that mesh look. The combination with the crop jeans also still keeps that vintage flair going on. The dress has the most lovely full skirt look, so very stylish and feminine. Both looks are great with the vintage 2strap shoe (add ons) shown in a previous post.
The close up pic was to show off the cool bangles by Fanatik that are at Vintage Fair 2012, I really like their style especially the double strapped leather one, that would definitely be a unisex item.
The skin I am wearing is the recent release from Glam Affair which is Cassiopea. This is a brand new body and tones, with the one I am wearing being Jamaica. I really like this skin a lot, I wish there were more in between tones though, and a darker tan like tone than the one I am wearing, as the next tone up is different rather than darker.
The stand out thing about the face for me was the eyebrows, they come in three colours, the darker brown being close enough to work with black hair, but the red is just divine. There are also five lip gloss tattoo layers that you can wear over the top of your lipsticks to add a different kind of gloss effect. This face and the make up, wow. Every single make up had me more in love with the package as a whole. Make sure to demo this skin as soon as you can.

Lets get Physical @ The Loft via FaMESHed/August
Recently The Loft did a huge release of a mesh house – which is amazing looking – and interiors that are texture change with so many beautiful colour options that you will be in decorating heaven for ages. Today I am showing the Tribeca Bedroom, which is set inside the Casa Bramasole house by Deer Co. I also added an older mesh item from The Loft which was the Frezza Sofa, also with texture change options that brought it together well with the use of blues and orange/coral colours. You can see the full release HERE .
The headboards are sold separately, so for those that have their own beds already, this will definitely give it an uplift, but the bed itself has so many fun options besides the obvious love of texture changing and pillow accents. There are so many cool animations included, for single use, couples and friends. I really like the fact that you can also exercise, as the bed places you at the foot end of the bed on the floor and rezzes a workout matt and other bits and pieces. The bed even gives you handweights so you can get into shape for the Olympics in 2016.
With the Olympics comes sporty looks and Boom has recently for FaMESHed released the Twenty Three t’s, with 23 countries represented. If your country is not there, and you have enough people wanting it, Aranel said she may do some more if it is a real want from her customers. So get sporty and represent your country, even if it is only in your wonderful bedroom by The Loft.

Vintage Fair 2012 – Dotty Tartan and Floral
Three whole sims full of newness. It is definitely building into an event to remember and it only just began. The Vintage Fair 2012 build – by Cory Edo – is full mesh and incredible work. There are hundreds of stores, and if you keep everything to your left you can weave through all three sims and back again – just in case you missed something or decided to think about it. Each booth is a great size, and everything is easy and clear to buy from.
Three different looks today, and all such fun looks that I would wear day in and out. The first is the Dotty look. This is definitely a frock worth picking up, it is pretty and girly and fits and moves well. The Simplicity Dress is by Sakide, and I just adore the large polka dots with thick white banding to the dress. There were belt options, but I was not digging them for the overall look. I flew over to Toki Doki to grab another of the oversized bow packs I just love, and I was blessed that there was in fact a very similar print as the dress – I did edit the texture just a little bit to make them more in keeping with the dot sizes of the dress.
The headband on this recent release from Elikatira of the Studio hair was just perfect, gorgeous straight style with thick heavy bangs, perfect. The other two styles are also from Elikatira, the control hair is a lovely side braid medium length look, and the swept bangs on this style were a great way to show off my new from Vintage Fair glasses by Artilleri. I have just about every pair of glasses ever made from that store, and was so chuffed that these were not alpha ones as have been great in the past, but now these are just awesome. They are called Meredith and you really need them. Other must haves from Vintage Fair are the Maxi’s Jewelry releases. In this pic I am wearing the Beatrice earrings and Necklace – short – there is a long option as well, but this worked better for the outfit. They would normally be a dressier evening kind of look, but they also worked so well for this outfit.
The Tartan Corset is one of many fabrics available at the NV booth at Vintage Fair, this is a stunning print and the corset fit so well. There are also latex and leather options, but this tartan one is a MUST HAVE. It works so well with the older One Bad Pixel Cigarette Pants, and then following them down to the NEW released at Vintage Fair 2strap Vintage pumps that are ADD ONS for the new Medium Height – on your toes – bare feet in rigged mesh by SLink. Gosh that was a mouthful. But yes the new medium height bare feet are rigged mesh and will allow for bare foot walking on your toes and looking all dainty and stuff, and as an incentive to buy them, there are the new pumps that slip over the top of them – use add not wear – and this is just the first of many shoes that will be made for them.
I am wearing them without the pumps – which are delightful as a shoe for those that don’t always want a death defying heel – in this next pic, which you see them just barely poking out the bottom of this gorgeous boho skirt by Crash Republic. I love this skirt, I love it so much, I have to go back and see what other prints it comes in. This floral print though is just everything, it has that home made grandmas quilting circle shabby chic awesomeness about it. Perfect fit size wise, and it went so well with the tied top by Le Primitif, which work as a perfect backdrop for the different length necklaces by Maxi’s. The floral print on the skirt worked so well too with the oversized amazing flower that comes with the Unfold hair from Elikatira. It has a HUD for colour changing included.
Now about that skin. Meet Betty, she is the newest Belleza skin and released at Vintage Fair. There are only four tones at the fair, the rest will be released at their final release date, but I am wearing the Tan and it is beautiful. Now the reason you HAVE to go and get this skin at Vintage Fair is that there are four make ups that will only be at the event apparently, unless they get beaten up afterwards by angry customers. But as it stands now, they are only there and they are HOT HOT HOT. Also as a special for the event, you can buy the individual special make ups for only 1000L but you get them in all four tones, so for those that like to lighten and darken your skin from season to season, this is the deal for you.

Vintage Fair – FaMESHed – Evergreen
It is a whirlwind of wonderful events right now. Vintage Fair 2012 is about to open on the 4th of August, and FaMESHed has opened its doors for the August session. The clothing I am wearing are items from Tutti Frutti for Vintage Fair 2012, the pants are of the wide legged variety, and they are really beautiful, especially the stunning print options they come in. These evergreen ones are beautiful and really easy to wear with the solid ruffle top, also by Tutti Frutti. I really like that they are doing solids now, it gives so many more options to wear their items.
Other Vintage Fair 2012 are the amazing Birdy ring and earrings by Glow Studio. They have those green hunter type ducks amongst oversized gold earrings and a lovely oversized ring. There are other colours available, but the gold option just worked so well with this combination. I did have to move the earrings around a little, just for realism, as the skin I am wearing has ear pierced hole marks, and you have to keep it real right.
FaMESHed August is a huge session with so many great designers showing their original mesh work. The hair I have on is Sylvie by Wasabi Pills, this is a high crown low pony with full bangs, and is really nice dressy or casual. As FaMESHed items are only available at FaMESHed during the session, you will want to get over there to grab it, and not wait for it to be in the store.
The poses I am using for this post are some of the Adorkable Poses release for Vintage Fair 2012, they have a whole slew of packs released with various themes for the different styles that will i am sure be inspiration for many of the releases at the event, so be sure to grab as many as you can.
