Hair Fair 2012 – Rock n Clawtooth
Today I took a break for three hours and watched the Olympics Opening ceremony with Whimsy Winx. The United Kingdom did an incredible job at creating an amazing event. There was a few tears shed my end, and lots of goosebumps, I was really moved by the fact that this is the first ever Olympics that all nations had a female competitor, not just because it is the first year they qualified, but because their countries in the past did not allow it. I will laugh for days at Whimsy declaring that the woman that was declared the ‘Champion of Earth’ during the carrying of the Olympic flag was not wearing a cape, and she wanted to take the gold from the UK teams uniforms and make her one. All in all it was very enjoyable, I did unfortunately miss the first part of it, so missed Duran Duran and their video they shot in Second Life for the event, but I am sure it will be online eventually.
I was all hyped up and rawr, so the pics ended up with a rock n roll kind of look happening. Clawtooth at Hair Fair 2012 did wonderful long styles in mesh, and they are really must haves from the fair. The braided style Going Steady is super pretty, but with the loose tendrils framing the face it is fierce as well. There is a second braided style, very similar to the first, but with a few whispier parts and more face covering pieces – not shown. Then you have Serendipity and Starlight, both long over one shoulder styles, one with a pompadour top to it which is very rockabilly influenced and so cool.
With all this rock n roll comes the need for leather pants, and these new Zoey mesh ones from Erratic are stunners. The shape, the texture work and the gold zippers are great, I would love it if there was a silver zipper option, but that’s just greed. They come in standard sizes and the fit is fantastic. Make sure you check them and other new mesh items out while you are there.

Hair Fair 2012 – Sugarsmack that!
It is all about pretty dresses and lovely hair in this post. Sugarsmack being the store featured from Hair Fair 2012. There are only a few days left, so be sure you go and grab everything you haven’t already, because while it is at the fair, your purchases contribute to the Wigs for Kids donations..and every bit helps a child in need.
The hairstyles are so pretty and feminine and I am in love with the hairbases, as they have a widows peak that just makes me melt all over, I am seriously infatuated with that look. The styles are so lovely, and go with all sorts of looks, but I wanted to do the frock thing today. Two are from One Bad Pixel and are glorious, the first is really cool long dress with an interesting take on the one strap look. The third dress is the other One Bad Pixel release and this ruched cocktail frock is just heavenly. I have worn it with a fur stole just for red carpet arrival, but you can see the amazing beading and ruched satin waist effect. Those beads are also all mesh work, such attention to detail that has really made it stand out as a must have for future special occasions.
The second dress is another Collabor88/July item from Schadenfreude. The dress is so pretty and girly, and the ribbon work on the back takes it to a dressier wear situation, the shoes also by them are neat too, all in all it would be great for a wedding, christening or outdoor luncheon look.

Hair Fair 2012 – OhMai Goodness – a plea
Every year during Hair Fair, one of my favourite things to do is check on what Anya Ohmai has done. This is because every year since the ‘shoulder up’ – thats what I call it – series, she has done amazing Hair Fair hair pictures. This year is just as amazing, and you can see them HERE on her Flickr if you haven’t already. This year though, is her second year attending Hair Fair as a participant, and so this post is the hair she released for the fair.
The three styles shown are Gillian, Ginta and Chloe, and while they are pretty and girly, they are definitely casual to dressier in wear-ability. In the first two I especially love the thin headband and half updo creation at the back, with the hair having more volume at the top, it is very lovely and creates a beautiful silhouette. I matched two of the styles together with the new mesh blazer from Elate, this blazer is really nice to wear, and the contrast piping had me so excited. Whether with long pants, like these gorgeous ones from Celoe, or shorts that are very fetching, the look works so well.
I kept with the shorts look and am wearing the really pretty cardigan from The Sea Hole at Colllabor88. This cardigan comes with the bra top hardwired to it, I really wish designers would not do that, I know I have said it before, but as clothes most of the time are built as layers in PS/Gimp, keep them that way. That cardigan as its own item would be so wearable with many other things, other bra tops, same with the bra top that is underneath, it would be a lovely go to bra for many things, even as a default always worn kind of bra, as it is strapless and low enough to wear under most mesh. While the creativity of the designer is incredibly important, once the customer purchases the item, it allows for even more. I know that many love to see how people can take their items to different levels of looks, and be proud of their ability to see more in an item than originally thought of, but layered clothing that is not available as single parts, doesn’t allow for that.
I once got the response from a designer that it was because they have to flatten the layers to save. No you do not, that is not true of PS and I doubt it is true of Gimp, that is how they were taught to do things, and have since changed that – yay – but the way PS works is that whatever layers are visible is what will save, so if you do make something all as one file, then just save the item in the parts you want, un-check the eye beside the layers you don’t want for that portion and do a regular save file as , then keep doing that to keep the parts you need as you need. If that does not work for you, or you don’t feel comfortable with it, open another document the same exact size, name it what you will be saving such as bra, and then duplicate the bra portion over to the new document, and do the same for the other pieces to their own documents. This way after you save as a TGA or a PNG you can save the documents of each portion as a PSD and have them as starting off layers for another item in the future, or better yet, if you decide to revisit an item for more colours, or you need a fast item for an event, there you have it, all ready for new colours or prints.
Now back to the cardigan, the sheerness of it is superb, that is why I want it solo lol, but the whole release is just lovely, so you only have a week or so left to grab it all. The theme this month was Bleached, and the items that came from that theme have all just been amazing.
Isla by League is the skin I am wearing in this post, and we all got a sneak peak during the Skin Addiction showcase a little while back. This is now fully released as of yesterday and she is divine. The skin has so many great options, but the newest is Red Eyebrows, which are wonderful.
The make ups on the Isla skins are beautiful also, a few familiar lips and eyes because they are firm favourites but majority wise it is a fresh pallette and you even get the lipsticks on tattoo layers for the sets and fat pack, so in reality you can make at the very least a hundred combinations that make the skin incredible value. Also new are the mini lipstick packs sold separately, these will work with other skins as they don’t have skin around the mouth as the ones with the skins do, but you will need to try the demos first so you can see if they work for skins you have. They have a whole other colour range in those, so it just adds to the whole overall collection.
The poses I am using today are by Adorkable Poses, they are from the Zodiac/Leo event that is currently on, so make sure you check that out soon.OhMai is on the Hair Fair – Sand Sim at Hair Fair 2012

Hair Fair 2012 – Damselfly with me
The fuller styled hairs of this years Damselfly releases at Hair Fair 2012 are super sexy. Bringing Boom and Red Mint into the pics fashion wise added that extra bit of hot to the mix. The sexy mini dress and so cute really short skirt in plaid are both Red Mint clothing items. The mini skirt comes with underwear but I opted for the new bikini from Boom that is part of this months Collabor88.
The Blair hair from Damselfly is really sexy, its volume, it’s come hither bravado is all very hot. The Bella style is a smoother full long hair look, and the Tinsley just takes updo’s to a whole over the top piled high attractiveness. I downplayed the formal look of it with the romper from Boom, which is an awesome flash back to the 70’s early 80’s and terry cloth fashion fun.

Hair Fair 2012 – They put the Frou Frou in You You
As I have said often before, Bela Tolsen of Tutti Frutti does incredible work with prints. Whether layer clothing, or mesh, every item that has incredible print is spot on, and it made me kind of wish she would do some tutorials on that subject. These latest mesh items she has released are beautiful, and not just the mesh, but also the system layered pants, I really like the floral in the capris, and the pattern on the jeans is amazing. I was even more excited to see her do some solid colours in the Carrie mesh jeans, the stitching detailing is vivid and fun, and I just love how well the colour went with the sexy leopard print halter top.All of the hair from Hair Fair 2012 featured in this post is from Frou Frou. The styles are detailed and fresh, and the Aigle bob has the coolest side section that seriously looks as though strands of hair were woven over and under these rods that are all tied off with black ribbons, it really does make such an impact to what can seem a simple look, making it a lot more interesting and definitely glam.
The second style Foxpouf is just fun, and creative, the individual segments all tied off with ribbon ties is just quirky and cool. In my younger days I cannot deny doing this myself on occasion. The third which is a lot more elegant, is a piled up updo, with really detailed twisted segments at the front and along the hairline, I did need to add a hairbase from LeLutka for this one, and as hair bases are easily obtainable these days, this style should definitely be demoed with one on, for a classier look. It has an almost Spanish influence to the style, very hot.

Hair Fair 2012 – Sugar helps the Wasabi Pills go down
Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! you can do the oi parts. So the Olympics are coming, and while I was interested enough to learn that Duran Duran recently shot a video in Second Life to be featured at the Opening Ceremony, it was only today that I realised that of course this means Australia will be also competing, and seeing as we are going from our Winter to Englands lol Summer, it will probably be drier down here. Other news I got from Sofia Gray, is that apparently the Spice Girls will be doing the Closing Ceremony, that is so cool, and helped me decide on my Sporty Spice Aussie Girl look.
The super fit and funky workout wear items are from Miel, and are so cool because they come with a HUD that allows you to change the text on them. I was sad face that I could not put Sasypants across my pants – yes that corny – so Aussie was the next best thing. Also what with the release last week of the Aussie Thongs add ons by SLink a girl has to represent right. The clothing is Mesh in the Fit pieces, and they are standard sizing and glorious to wear, I cannot wait to see more mesh from Miel as everything they do is always so pretty, even their much older items, and this was one of their very first, the AM Tulip ensemble is still just beautiful to look at and wear. I would love to see this skirt in mesh and in a lot more colours than originally released in.
Now while the hair is not exactly sporty, it is gorgeous, and fashionista fitness is key to a sporty look, it has to look effortless and well, more like you would not actually ever do anything sporty in your ensemble, but you could if the mood struck you. Wasabi Pills release at Hair Fair 2012 goes from updo to half do, and not half uppydo, but an actual half a headstyle with shaved tattoo layer look, very punked out and fun, but not shown today. The first hair is Ichigo which means Strawberry in Japanese and is lovely, I really like the floppy look hair ribbon, and the fullness of the look, it reminds me of Lulu in “To Sir with love”. The second style is Zoey, and she is a free spirit hippie girl look, which is so sweet especially with the true ‘pig’ tail curls. I had to casual up the sporty look in this pic and add the thongs, because that is just how we roll down under.
Lastly is Brigitte, and this hair is just stunning, the braided band look and high backcombed vintage styling is just divine. This hair can be worn in this casual and pretty way I am wearing it, or it could transform with a gown into full elegant evening look. So beautiful and definitely a must have style.

Hair Fair 2012 – Love Fiertz Love Scars… L + N Signature
There is a new monthly event which has started with a roar. A lions roar that is. The event is Zodiac and is based on starsigns, so each month as the zodiac changes this event will have items based on that months starsign this one is Leo, and Kyoot has created these lovely faux fur bustier tops that you can pick up now.
I kind of continued with the Kyoot clothing throughout this post as I feature Hair Fair 2012 participant L + N Signature. Not only was I aware of all these styles and the totally creative booth, but the whole lead up to Hair Fair 2012 Mel drove me nuts, and vice versa with turning Designers names into well known songs. Love Fiertz the lovely creator of L+N ended up repeatedly exclaimed to the tune of Love Hurts, which just drove me nuts, and it isn’t because he kept doing it only, but because I got it stuck in my head and that was the end of me.
I really like the combed back height for the first two styles, and I really like this asymmetrical style in the last pic. The hairs are all thick and heavy locks which is really nice for such full styles as these. The hair is sold in one pack with natural colours, and there is a goodie bag in the booth.

Hair Fair 2012 – The Color Carrier
What is this, like my third wearing purple post in a week or something, that has to be a blogging record other than of course the one week of purple I did a year or two ago. It is all Elysiums fault, she is like a carrier of the purple lol, she touches you and BAM you are in purple. I did play with the contrast HUD that comes with the wonderful new Averi separates collection recently released.
The mesh skirt and tube top has string and buttons colour options with the cute little HUD that comes with, so you get to play with a lot of fun combinations. The other great fun is the tank dress with tank only option, the style has a contrast colour along the cleavage line, as well as the hemline in the dress version.
Colors is the Hair Fair 2012 store featured this post, I really liked their ads for the male hair especially. The avatar reminded me of Gotye, don’t especially think they look heaps alike, but just first overall look had me thinking that for sure. I am wearing one of their male styles and their two female styles in the post, the male style is super hot and works for guys and girls for that really fierce and rocked out look. They also have a great goodie bag item on the wall when you walk into their booth, and I just really like the overall feel of their space a lot. The two female styles are really sweet and tending to move into that innocent girly look, which works when wearing adorable clothing items such as these, I also think they would look great on kid avatars also.

Hair Fair 2012 – Laviere is in the Air
There’s a hair in there…
Laughs as she has now stuck the playschool theme into everyone’s head that knows it. One of the great things about Hair Fair each year, is when we have new stores, or older stores that have decided to branch out into hair. One such designer this year was Azure Electricteeth, she only just started making hair a few months before the event, and has been creating beautiful styles since day one.
The three styles I am showing from her Laviere brand are Natasha, Ambush and Freya. The two outfits in the first pics are dresses by Tee*fy her other brand, yes she is a busy girl. It is not just the hair I am loving at her booth though, it is also her adorable goodie bag item, which is this adorable Candy Bow, which comes in great colours…but also her layout. The booth has a great look and such beautiful bright colours as accents for her displays. All in all it was a treat watching her set up. I also admit to giggling for days every time I walked past her booth before her set up, as she had a huge prim with a pic of her av peering just above the floor, so it looked like a giant girl was hiding under her store.
The first outfit comes with three choices, all striped top and bottom, striped top solid bottom, or striped bottom solid contrast top. It is a really nice strapless romper style mini, and really lovely texture work and shading. The second babydoll dress has two options, strapless as shown or thin straps where one side is more off the shoulder looking…very cute. The third outfit is actually from Tres Blah @ Collabor88/July, and it is a maxi skirt and tucked shirt combination. I was instantly infatuated with this ensemble, the casualness of the pieces, but combined they really look lovely and ready for anything. I added some older group gift necklaces and a regular release from Mon Tissu, got to love that add option we have now, stacking jewelry is so much fun.
In the first pics I am wearing the latest release shoes from Redgrave, these floral motif heels have lovely leather and lace work detailing. The colour pallette is very pale pastel though, but fortunately did come with a black option. As luck would have it though, all the dresses that I am wearing all came with the same pastel kind of colours though, so they were perfect.
I am using Ploom poses for this post and recently they added to their poses Curvy and Robust options in their packs. This is great for those that may be fuller figured, but also for those with longer limbs. The savings on buying all in one pack is great, and if you have bought a lot of their packs, I think the past few sets have been updated in the re-delivery terminal in the store, so stop by there and see if you have pose sets you can update and get the new options.

Hair Fair 2012 – It’s your Vanity
Ok so , while there are a few things running around Second Life about how to ‘fix’ the lines that shadow pictures in Second Life produce, there are no exact things that at this time can remove them entirely…not to my knowledge anyway. There are a few solutions on Jiras, and Elysium Eilde did a fantastic tutorial on how to remove them on You Tube HERE. I had looked into solutions right back when it all started, and sometimes was lucky enough to not get lines at all.
I worked out one thing with all my picture taking though, and think that it may help some of you who find the lines so frustrating you do not want to shoot pics that way anymore. The lines are locked to your mouse…ok that is not technically the way to describe it, but you can test it to see.
If you alt click your mouse away from your body, where you may even crop the image when in PS/GIMP or, just somewhere where you are not too worried about the image, that is where those little lines will cross. Go on test it. Then once you have taken your picture, because you clicked low enough or high enough to not have the crosses go over your body in both directions, or you just have one horizontal line across your legs and you can easily smudge those out or remove using Elysiums knowledge you will be a much happier photographer. Again while this is not a solution to have line free images without doing any after work, it sure does make it less annoying.
Check out more of Elysiums Tutorials HERE.
Moving on to Hair Fair 2012 and the release by Vanity Hair. These three styles are beautiful , and each style comes with a hairbase, the third one comes with the amazing cornrow base that is just stunning.
The Florette style is a short curled flicky uppy do, really stylish and lovely, especially with this great mesh sweater from Toki Doki. The second style Moon Dance has more of an elegant formal style to it, so I could not resist wearing it with the Zoe dress from Glam Affair, this was a past Collabor88 item named after the Manager of Glam Affair Zoe Gloster. This is always a huge testament of the closeness between Designers and their Managers. The dress is not as of yet in the Mainstore, but I am fingers crossed that it will be there soon, as everyone who missed out on it last month, should definitely get one or more, it is stunning, and the texturing especially around the sides and back is just lovely, and I especially love the belt.
The third style is this Jioni hair, wowza dreads in an updo, so sexy, and the cornrow hairbase is spot on. It definitely has an ethnic look to it, and I just loved that, so went with the new mesh blouse Ashima from Zaara. The blouse is so lovely, the textures are all drapey looking, and the style itself is just perfect for a dressy boho influence. The stunning necklace is from this months Collabor88 and is the Tilly necklace by Maxi’s this the second necklace from this event by them you MUST HAVE.
Another Must Have is the skin I am wearing called Roza, this is a new Glam Affair skin that is released in this make up mix for an event. You can find the details HERE. So much fun to have coloured eyebrows and really fun colourful make ups, but the brows are just awesome, because really you could wear with colourful hair, but there is no need, it is awesome regardless.
