Today has been a Musicals/Dance Movies day for me, started off with Mama Mia, and now I have moved on to Footloose, the new one not the original. I was very against the remake at first, because they changed all the begining and it kind of lacked a little fire, the original cast were a lot more intense. If this wasn’t a remake though, it would still be an ok movie. I just don’t see it being iconic like the first one is.

Anyway, so due to two monitors, this always gives me the chance to watch and take pics, and get some blogging done. Today is the second last day of My Attic, but today is more about other new and exciting items that have been released this past week or so. First off the wonderful Verona items from The Loft that are featured at The Liaison Collaborative. The pool has been sunken into the actual SL water for my shots, because I was intending to get some reflections happening, but ended up just enjoying what I got. The best thing about being able to sink into SL water though, is that you get to actually swim with your own AO if need be, so definitely use that opportunity if you have the chance.

The pool and decking is just lovely, the tiling is beautiful and it will certainly add to any home. The pool comes with a hot tub as well, which means if Whimsy lays her eyes on it, it won’t be empty for long, she has been trying to get a hot tub at The Deck for so long, one day she even built one at the landing point to the sim lol. The area with the fireplace is also very nice, a great area to just settle in for the afternoon, early evening. I also have the Verona furniture pieces set out, the armchairs have texture change options of white or oatmeal, as well as cushion colours to choose from. Then you have the loungers, that rez different cushions depending on what pose/animation you are using, and they are full of different sits.

The diving board is also full of animations, so you can just sit and enjoy the rays, or be all ‘look at me’ fabulous, in you new swimwear. The new swimwear I speak of is by Zaara, and not only is it mesh and beautiful in all its sequined glory, but there are some amazing cover ups you can purchase in a lovely sheer fabric that are wearable over the top of swimwear, or perhaps even a resort combination of clothing. Now because the coverup is sheer, you will need to keep your mesh hair short, or you will have some issues with alpha, but hair up is the look of the day with the great Beth hair from LeLutka.

The Beth hair comes with a great bandana tied vintage look, and the colours of bandanas change with a texture menu drop down. So if you want to get your hair up and out of the way, or just have your rocker vintage look going on, then this hair is definitely a must have. The pose I am using when standing, is one of the Pretense poses from My Attic. This set also comes with a bag you can use so that you really do look like you are taking time out, and on the move.

Cosmetics Fair is only a few more days, it packs up the same time as My Attic, but straight after that is another NEW and big event. Koreshan Hillbilly Howdown & Country Fair is going to be a fun and exciting event put on by a sim that is pretty famous for having had great events in the past years. I am glad they are doing something again now, and really looking forward to finding out, who and what is going to take place. The sign as you see, says that there will be a lot of attractions, so mark your calendars for Monday when it launches. That in itself is exciting, as events usually start on the weekend, what a great and fun way to chase the monday blues away.

Back to My Attic and Cosmetics Fair though, the Make Up I have on today is by Chelle and Glamorize. The eyeshadow is part of the Moon Dust collection they released for the event, and I love that it really does have a dusty shadow look to it. I love the red, and should have probably not worn a full bangs hairstyle, but you can check it out in person yourself at the fair. I am also wearing the eyelashes on tattoo layers that were also released, I don’t usually go with tatoo lashes as I wear mesh ones, but I liked the combination of both. The lipstick I have on is from Glamorize, and I like the black lipstick look, especially with this outfit.

I went with the look especially for this fantastic Latex zipper skirt that is currently at My Attic. The skirt comes in a great range of colours, and it is perfectly sexy over the top of these great tights by Bax that are a newish release. I love the banding effect on them, and the fact that they are incredibly well done seams wise. They come on both tattoo layers and underpants layers, and are just glorious to wear with boots such as these by Erratic.

While the whole ensemble is definitely hard rocker chick, the hair can be adorable or vampish, depending on how you wear it. The style is from Wasabi Pills, and there are two sugar styles, Sugar High and Sugar Rush. The Sugar High style has a backcombed bangs look, also very cool. Have fun shopping most excellent people ♥

So with all my watching of I Love Lucy reruns the past week, I have been loving all the polka dots and bows, and lovely vintage looks. This dress which is the SySy release for My Attic, is a lovely take on that kind of look, and so adorable in either the solids options, or the striped. I decided to go with the solid, so that I could keep the stripes for my nails, as well as my new tri colour wedges from Slink.

The dress is so lovely, and has a scalloped hemline with a great waisted cinched in and topped with a bow. The nails I am wearing are very similar and were partly inspired by the dresses as well as the reaction to previous lingerie inspired nails I did with bows a few weeks ago, they are also being sold in a special combination pack at My Attic. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, as these shoes just released come with three wedge colour options, as well as almost unlimited options if you go with the multipack. The shoes come with three coloured straps as a single pair, but definitely consider the multipack as you can see with the HUD I showed, you get to just choose from each row/strap and make up as many combinations as you can.

I have also included a picture showing that these shoes have been textured with specular mapping. This is a new materials project that LL just launched in the past week. The specular mapping adds more detailing to the items, without actually adding more geometry, which keeps the land impact low, but the detailing high. If you have the latest SL Viewer, you can see the difference by turning on ‘Advanced Lighting Model” you do not have to turn on shadows, but it is really lovely the effect you can get overall, and I am looking forward to seeing this used in such a lovely subtle way by more creators.

The skin and hair I am wearing are from Ploom, and so adorable as they both have an ocean like theme. The Kat hair has a starfish acccessory option (not worn) and the skin is make up inspired by starfish as well. I really love Gia, the skin, as it has such a beautiful pouty look, and smoldering eyes. As I said previously I love the different takes on the theme Escape that is this sessions theme for My Attic, some went beachy and tropical, and others went stripes and jail like, it has all been really enjoyable to see.

The NEW Gogo hair by LeLutka is just beautiful. It has a hat that comes with as a separate attachment,  and both looks are just lovely. It is perfect for a shoulder baring dress such as this great one by Toki Doki. I really like the print used on the dress, and the thin belt cinching the waist is a really nice addition to the look.

This dress would be lovely for a date and early evening look, but also with flats such as these great add on shoes by BOOM, the look can be a nice day out combination as well. The Ventrue flats slip right on over your flat rigged mesh feet, and come in cute little shoe boxes and you can get them in three colour packs.

The necklace and ring I am wearing is part of a set that is at My Attic from HandVerk. HandVerk does beautiful mesh accessories, so be sure to check those out, as they come in three colours at My Attic, and will be available in more colours in a regular release afterwards at full price, so grab the three at a bargain while you can. They come with silver and gold options, so they will go with just about everything.

Summerfest is still on until the 29th, and you don’t want to miss visiting this event, the build is lovely, and the items are really fabulous. The Summer Skin by Glam Affair is one such item, and I love the natural clean look of this skin, the smattering of freckles across the bridge of the nose, and cheeks, and the highlights in areas for the sun. It is just a really lovely fresh and healthy look, if that is what you are looking for in a skin.

The nails I am wearing are another of the Flair combination sets from My Attic, these I did in camo colours that also suit those lovers of fall. I did a set with black tips and a set with the combined colour tips, so they have a lot of options, and I just love these kinds of colours myself.

A reminder and some more information about the Hair Fair Photo Contest that is now taking place.

The theme is “Movies that Inspire Me“, please try and focus as much attention to the hair as possible, as this is an event for the upcoming Hair Fair, and we want all the hair to have as much attention as it deserves.

Some answers to some questions that have come up over the past two weeks – 

* You can wear any hair that you own, it does not have to be a store that is in this years Hair Fair, as we do not reveal that list until the event is about to begin. We just want this contest to be a celebration of hair, and hair creations.

* Text is not allowed on the images unless it is your avatar name, discreetly in the bottom left or right of your image.

* The image has to have been taken since the contest started, so any pictures dated or proven to have been taken prior to 7th June will not be valid.

* You cannot use images that have been entered in another event/contest as your contest entry. ( This is a huge prize pool and the people donating deserve your best effort for their contest alone, please make sure that you are entering a NEW and this contest focused entry)

* You can enter more than once, we have it set so that you can enter up to 8 images for the contest, so please do not feel that entering more than once is not allowed or in any way too much…you never know which picture will appeal to the judges.

* If your images are larger than the sizes suggested in the rules, that is ok, those numbers are a suggestion only as they are the numbers that uploading them into Second Life will produce. Please be sure to make your image larger than 512 x 512 though, otherwise they will look pixelated, and it is in world that they will be judged.

1. This years theme is “Movies Inspire Me” be as creative as you like, feel free to include other people in your shots.
However, as in previous years, ONLY THE PERSON ENTERING THE PHOTOGRAPH IS ELIGIBLE TO WIN. This years contest will run from the 7th June – 28th June 2013

Examples : Sci-fi, Black & White, Romantic Comedy, Anime, Horror, Country & Western, Thriller, Action, Drama

*No Nudity or sexualy suggestive images, this is a charity event to raise money for Children, naked/revealing pictures and pictures that the committee deem inappropriate will not be accepted, the committee’s say on this is final.

Be creative, but remember we are looking for pictures that focus on the hair and you. PHOTOS SUBMITTED TO THIS POOL MUST HAVE BEEN UPLOADED SINCE THE START OF THE CONTEST, PHOTOS OLDER THAN THE START WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, we want fresh focus and definite passion for this event, and this event only.

2. Feel free to enhance your shot in the photo editing program of choice. We don’t want to see vendor images here or store logos in the background for example. Whimsy and I just released the Tropical Escape Towel set with poses, and sunscreen tubes and cushions for My Attic – Escape. I took these pictures for the vendor ad, but they were so fun to take, and I love the new items we have on, mixed with some older ones, that I didn’t want to waste the pics and not blog them. The towel set is all mesh, and the towels are two versions with 9 textures, the cushions have 6 textures all controlled by a click and menu. Then there are ten poses in the towels that can be solo poses and then some can be combined for applying sunscreen or just being kooky.

The towels actually came about because of the nails sets I made for Flair. I showed Gogo some pics of them, and she said that they would make great tshirts. While I am not in the habit of making clothing, I did however get inspired to turn the hand drawn scenes into towels, as you often do see palm tree towels or gradient looking towels…so thank you Gogo for being inspiring. The poses are great for swimsuit shots, or just enjoying time on the beach, and we decided that they worked for people to just have them for their poolside or beach area, rather than them just being pose props.

I got a chance to wear the gorgeous new bikini by BOOM that was released for Summerfest, and it is a really lovely work of mesh. The fitting is perfect on the bottoms, and of course I wear different sizes on the top. There is also an unrigged option for the top so that you can size it to fit you if needed. I love the anchors on it, as I am a huge fan of nautical looks. I am also wearing the beautiful hair accessory by Boom that is a crown of beautiful flowers, but also has ear only single flower attachments, which is a great thing if you love choices, and the mesh detailing on this is just wow,  if it was prims it would crash a sim it’s so beautifully detailed.

The flower was used to adorn the beautiful new updo by Exile that is also a My Attic item. This hair is huge Kavar keeps saying, but I think it is perfect for an updo of such lovely curls and full body. The height, how its pulled back from the face, all of it is just enticing, and I love that it can be worn in such a casual way as on the beach in a bikini, or just heavenly in a gown dripping with diamonds. Another hairstyle that is at My Attic is worn by Whimsy, the Veerle style is mesh by Mina, and I love what she is doing with mesh lately. This style is a full long style with a nice flow of hair down past the shoulders. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at some of Minas future releases, and they are also lovely, so look out for those during Hair Fair.

I have on some lipstick from Glamorize,a Cosmetic Fair purchase that I really love over the league skin, so be sure to not miss out on checking that event out.

The nails Whimsy and I are wearing are from set 108 that is part of the 4 double sets I have out. So you get two different sets in the one pack for only 95L during the event, that include both the hands and the feet appliers. Also I would love to wish Seraphim a Happy 2nd Birthday. Cosmetics Fair is going wonderfully well the last few days, so many incredible make up layers, nail appliers, fantasy make ups, glamorous make ups and just about everything that can enhance the look of your skin, hands and feet. I had the pleasure of popping over there with Kavar the other day, as I think I did already mention, and I got to see a few familiar faces while there…or at least their names popped up on radar. While I was there I was in IM with Anessa Stine, who is of course one of the Co-Ordinators of Shoetopia which is going to be a huge Shoe Fair event later on this year. You can find all the information for that by contacting either Anessa Stine or Sophia Harlow who was also at Cosmetics Fair while I was there.

As you already know I am sure, Anessa Stine has been running the On Your Toes blog for many years now, and this was always a go to for shoe lovers, for up to date information on releases from many fantastic shoe stores. The event has applications open now for Designers, so do not miss out on the opportunity if you are making shoes. All this talk of shoes, you would think I was actually going to feature some in this post, but I am barefoot in my Slink feet in this pic, so no shoes this time around.

Actually the main feature of the post is the stunning make up layer, this is of course one of the make ups from Cosmetics Fair. While incredibly dramatic, it definitely is something that I would wear around and about for a few days, just because in SL I can. It has a reptilian look to it, and the tongue slithering out of the mouth is perfectly pierced…I actually have a tentacle tongue that looks similar, but this make up layer is definitely way cooler, and very well executed make up wise.

The Hair I am wearing is actually part of The Arcade, another event going strong, and it is of course a Gatcha event, so you have to take a try at your luck on which colour you will get, but this hair is so lovely from Wasabi Pills, honestly who cares what colour you get…just love it.

Ok so on the 15th of June , Cosmetics Fair is going to open to the public, and the layout is just fabulous. It is all backstage passes kind of looking, and the set up for the vendors is really easy to navigate. There are wonderful stores involved, and I was unable to resist shopping.

One of the stores involved is Glamorize and their prices are insanely low, like seriously low low low. So I just grabbed everything, and one of the packs I got was actually a dollarbie, and I had liked what I thought was just three lipsticks, but it ended up being eyeshadow as well. Now I haven’t mentioned Bloggers Fate in a long time on my blog, but this was all sorts of bizarro world.

I am also participating in Cosmetics Fair as a creator with Flair, for the nails huds, there are 10 new sets at the event, and I just hit my 100th set. So that was the nails I had on last to shoot the images. I hadn’t really even noticed as I was running around all day in just a swimsuit, and I felt I better get dressed. I wanted something comfortable so I went for the oversized shirt from Mon Tissu, and I love their yellow, so opted for that. So there I was in just my sweater and bikini bottoms, and that was about it, then I was trying on the make ups that I picked up and remembered that I really liked those lipsticks, so unpacked them, and realised that there was more than just lippy, but also eyeshadow and a combination layer. To my surprise the eyeshadow was blue and yellow, the exact blue and yellow of not only my lips, and the sweater, but looking down I realised that it was the same as the colours in the nails I made for set 100.

I was so happy, I thought that that was just awesome, especially as that combination was changed at the last minute when I was making them, and is pretty different to the rest of the combinations in the pack. Then I was really tempted to wear the Tres Blah cut off jean shorts again, but the same shorts in a week would be just wrong. So I searched, because I was feeling the shorty vibe, and discovered that I had some incredible daisy dukes from Izzies, that are shorty shorts and come in a slew of great denim.

So I was set, well almost, but then I remembered that I had recieved an item from Faenzo/Goucci the other day, and I was curious to see what it was, as I have been busy with Hair Fair this past week, and lo and behold there was a pair of fantastic shoes, their first, that are also add on shoes for the Slink feet. I put on a pair, and was not only all yay yum, but then realised that they have a HUD, and that that HUD changes the mid section of the shoes to other colour, and there was a yellow so perfect. I looked quickly in the folder and saw the colour Air Force and put them on super fast and squeeeled because they were PERFECTION. Adding the yellow mid section I was done, and the shoes are just stunning. Not only are they beautifully styled, but the colour combinations you can achieve with the HUD is just marvelous.

So today I was met with a forest of trees and a picnic, but not because it was all romantic, just Whimsy and her rezzing things in my way thing she does. It was a good morning though, got a lot of stuff done, had a great big chat with Gogo and some others in plurk about contacting designers, and so on and so forth. I am actually about to play a game of Scarlet Blade with Whimsy and Mel right now, but I just had to get this post up and away, because it was so much fun to dress up this way…brought back some crazy memories.

The theme for this months Collabor88 is 90’s, and there has been a bit of debate about what is what, but I personally think that everyone is right, because it really comes down to how old you were in the 90’s and where in the 90’s, such as start, middle or closer to the 2000’s. I remember going to a lot of dance parties in the early 90’s, dancing until sunday from leaving the house friday night, and then taking a few days to recover from it all. Leaving a warehouse at dawn to go to a recovery party, and having to step over piles of clothing, as people go so hot they just took off layers and dumped them.

The outfit I put together, is a mix of the stuff from Collabor88 and items I already had, the already had is the amazingly cute skirt by HOC industries, that not only is perfect in its Clueless kind of way, but also definitely something fun for clubbing, and still sexy. It has a texture change hud with lots of adorable tartan and check, as well as belt options. Also as all HOC industries items, there are extra group only options, so definitely worth joining the group if you like special extras like that.

The top I am wearing is from Collabor88, and it is a basic knot top by Tee*fy, I love that it comes in great colours, making it wearable often. I also like that the knot is on the side, making it less likely to get in the way of other items worn. It is also a good lenght, that you could layer under it with system clothing fairly easily.

The really adorable raver buns from Nylon Outfitters as part of Collabor88 bring the whole look together so well. I did have a bit of an issue with the hair base, as it was higher at the back on one side, revealing too much baldness for me…but an easy fix for that was to wear a hairbase from LeLutka, and then wear the raver buns hairbase over the top, because it has its unique drawn look and the centre part that works with the buns….easy.

I have always been a lover of Mary Jane shoes, and these ones by Fri.day are very cute, they are flats and cotton, and remind me very much of the trend based off of the asian slippers worn a lot in the mid 80’s, but as trends tend to carry forth into the next decade, it is definitely something easy to wear, and very comfy for long nights dancing. With them I am wearing the latest socks from Izzies, that also come with appliers for the Slink feet…so lots of fun to be had with those, sliding around the house.

Lastly the skin, and it was news to me that Whore Couture Fair is now a MONTHLY event, because I honestly missed that announcement somewhere. I am a bit saddened by that actually, because I think that it had merit being an annual thing, having so many sims, and so many stores build up to that kind of item. But with it being so successful I guess, riding it while you can makes sense.

The Skin is the Mya skin by Belleza, and the make up on it is just lovely. The skin is available in all tones, and I am wearing my appliers that match for the hands, cannot wait until the feet are done, as I am sure many are going to be excited to see. The nails I am wearing are from Flair, and they are a tartan based set, which took a long time to make as they were about 15 layers per nail colour blend, but I love them so much. I hope you do too.

So today I landed in disgusting flexi tentacle land, actually it was more like Aloe Vera gone wild up in here, but it was still as gross. Whimsy has this compulsion to let me know she has been here, and I have not, without just sending an offline like regular people, she has to dump lots of things on my studio…she is nutty that way. So after cleaning it all up, and getting everything else done, I had time to do this post.

House of Fox has an amazing set at this months The Arcade. He has recreated a dressing room, like one you would find at a fantastic fashion show, and you can collect all the pieces of it at the gatcha machine. The screen dividers are fantastic, as well as clothing rack, vanity area, and a high directors chair, with poses. The vanity stool also gives you make up when you sit so that you can use the animations to look as though applying your own make up.

To make sure that I didn’t get make up on my clothes or have my hair in the way, I went with the new lingerie by DCNY in the leopard print. Stunning selection of lingerie has been released, with all sorts of prints, I do hope she does more in the future. The hair is by Vanity Hair and is a hairbase styled do. This hair is tied at the lower part of the head and cascades down the back in curls, you really need to demo that and get the really beautiful full effect.

I am wearing a skin by Adam n Eve called Brooke, and she is a great new face, makes me look very different for sure. One of the things I noticed straight off is that my mouth looked fuller, and seeing as I have a rather wide mouth, this would mean a great pouty look for narrower mouths I am sure, so demo demo demo. The other beautiful Adam n Eve item, is this amazing foot jewellery that was created to wear as an add on for the Slink mesh feet. They come in 12 different stone options based on birth stones, and each stone has different metal options via a hud, so you get a lot of use out of each choice. I just love my birthstone which is Aquamarine, but the Ruby was one I wanted to wear this time around, with the leopard print and the darker skin tone it just seemed warmer. Make sure you check them out, because they will make incredible gifts.

To tie in with the lingerie look of the post I am wearing one of the more recent lingerie inspired sets of nails from Flair, they are stockings and suspenders against a bare leg, and as you lengthen the nails, the legs get longer.
