One Eleven in Second Life
There has been lots of talk about One11Event, or One Eleven, however you want to say it – for the past few months. The concept is one that has been bandied about many times over the years, but this event is a touch different in the fact that the 111 is going to be how many of each designers items will be for sale GASP!
You read correctly, over 40 incredible designers have gotten together under one apparently amazing rooftop – to do a one time only release of an item, and only 111 will be available. The organisers have done as much as they can to make the event as low lag as possible, from using limited textures, as well as setting up a room you can tp to early so you can load them prior to the event.While you are there you can click and join the sbscriber kiosk they have set out, and get the heads up on the landmark to the official event tomorrow when it is opened to the public. The plan time wise is of course 1.11pm , which is exciting. I suggest working out what time that is in your own time zone, so you do not miss out. The event is planned for a month, but with only 111 items from each designer, I kind of give them 2-3 days to sell out.

Lipsmacking good fun
Everyone out there needs to send some love to Cajsa Lilliehook, she is an incredible woman, and a rock to so many…I hope that she knows how much she means to all of us and gets better soon.
Lots and lots of skin love this week. Tonight the latest release from Gala @ Curio was unveiled, two beautiful skins, one called Autumn, the other called Yum. Yum has a more ethnic nose than Autumn and such incredibly glossy lips. Autumn is reminiscent of past skins from Gala, with a more mature face that is going to be loved by many I am sure. One thing of notice, is that while the skins still have the dark and light options in tone, this time it is blonde and brunette brows as the option for each make up, not a second lipstick.
So for all of those out there that had troubles with brows in the past, you should be very pleased, because these two colours work well with all sorts of colours. Also if you purchase the fatpacks, there are two bonus make ups which is just awesome value. Freeing up the face with the beautiful Details hair from Elikatira, this style is an updo with that casual nuance that allows for every day in all situations wear, that is just perfect. A little twist, a few tendrils and a beautifully shaped bun, so girly. Also spot on in the girly is the porcelain skirts from Fishy Strawberry, these are just so cute, and so 80’s but with such lovely warm fabrics that they are go so well with my new Linda boots from Berries Inc.
Summse has been honing her sculptie skills and these are her first ever shoes, and they ROCK so hard. Toggles on the sides, sheepskin lined and leather ties, they are just amazing for first shoes, I cannot wait to see what comes from her next. Keeping snuggly warm at the toes, and snuggly at the upper portion with the Dion shirts by Fri.day. These are soft henley style shirts with an angled button line that ties off with a small piece of ribbon. The colours are great, and other than all the fantastic layers, it is the arm extended glove layer sleeves that always have me glad fri.day knows how to treat it’s customers well.

Wriggles
Not my normal skin tone, but with it being an additional tone to the already popular UnBra skinline, I decided to give it a test run in the Yakira version. It really is a wonderful tone, so deep and dark, and well shaded for those who like a darker look. The make ups that UnBra have for their usual tones, as dramatic as they are, work just as well with this darker tone, which is not always the case with subtler styles. I am also FINALLY wearing Hayley, a discord Designs hairstyle that has its own hair base tattoo, called Turtle, which is so cool because with these styles of braids, the hair does twist into a turtle like patch.
To show off the body of Yakira, I am wearing the new Cutieh undies from Luck Inc, these pantie sets are delightful. There are solids and prints available, and I will be wearing others in the range in posts to come for sure. All layers and such wonderful prints to choose from, I do hope that Luck Inc considers perhaps another set of prints soon, because the possibilities are endless with these.

You had me at Ahoy
Roughly 15 mins ago the Mila skin by LeLutka was released to the public. The skin is a new range for LeLutka and a new way of packaging as well. The skin is now sold with one hair option, cleavage enhancer. The other hair colour bases, brows and teeth attachment options are add ons you can buy seperately. The idea is that you don’t pay for what you don’t need I guess.
Loving the red hair options, I had to go with that, I love how the red base and brows look, and you can get the combo as an all in one to save on layers tatoo wise. Of coure I am having to use the regular 2.3 viewer to get the full advantages of multiple layers, but if you do use 3rd party viewers that do have tattoo and alpha layers, you can still use at lease one of the options available…just be sure to try on demos and see for yourself what you will need. Also the teeth option is a new to me system, by using the Alpha layer to cut away part of the lips of the skin and allow for the teeth attachment to be shown, however I was able to still see teeth from the actual skin without the attachment, so you have it both ways, but remember, unless you have multiple layers of alpha to use, you wont be able to use this and wear v2 style shoes or other attachments at the same time, so again, demo demo demo.
There are six new tones in the skin line, and they are unique to the add ons, as there is skin tone mixed in so that the effect is flawless. 7 make ups as well as a base which is make up free, and all of them are just lovely…I especially love the eye make ups on these ones.I am showing a lot of the body with the last release of lingerie from Insolence, very sheer and rather exposing this line is, so until now I did not have the moxy to wear it, but with a discreet arm lift and denial about my bottom -Â the way low rise jeans are these days in SL I didn’t think I was showing more than has been seen uncovered lol – there it is, I especially love the options of panties in this set, and the amount of layers options is insane.
I am wearing the Milla hair from Maitreya for the skin pics of the Mila skin, because the reds are so close, and it shows off the hairline, The Lelutka team did say there will be their own hair base hairstyles in the future, so yay on that.
The NEW Hair I am wearing is from Elikatira, the Blind style comes with two bangs options, and the overall style of it is just GORGEOUS, the flicked back and clipped side, with the beautiful loose braid, so perfect and so the level of divine we are used to from Elika.
I am wearing it with the new anchored frocks – I so love that they called them frocks – from Whippet & Buck, you had me at Ahoy with these. Not only are they nautical lovers fashion fun, but the babydoll can turn into a lovely vintage look cossie with one toss of the skirt and into the ocean you can dive, so perfect for those sailing trips with your partner enjoying the ebb and flow of the ocean.

it is Craaaaaaaazy
A big shout out to Cajsa, we all love you and wish you well!
The other week I was invited to the pre-opening of Euphoria, the latest shopping sim by Joy Laperriere and Magnifico Miggins. The sim is just beautiful, the build is amazing and the stores are fabulous quality. The whole sim has a concept of savings for the consumer, with a rewards programme you can find info on at kiosks around the sim. I really liked the way the sim was layed out, you could spend a lot of time there, without feeling as though you are unable to find what you are looking for, the time spent would be to actually enjoy the atmosphere and perhaps window shop, as the windows are fabulous.
Two of the main outfit pieces I am wearing today come from Euphoria stores. The first is the Kathy set from Donna Flora, more known to me for Jewelry, this ensemble is just divine work, also pairing it up with an older favourite pair of dress pants for a more casual dressy look. The coat being the perfect style and colour to show off my new CRAZY hair colour from Amacci, who has released a new 8 pack of colours which for the time being are all incredibly reduced to only 35L a pack in every style in the store. For those of you who love these kinds of colours as your regular hair, you just won the hair lottery lol.
The second dress is from Teefy, who has done some great releases in the past weeks. The dress is from the Euphoria store, and the hat and sculpted socks I bought at the main. I am all hat loving for this one, and hope there are more to come…adding some devol leopard leggings for a more funna look. The extremely high shoes I am wearing are the latest from Indyra Originals, she has a wonderful range of shoes and accessories, and the hud for the feet and shoes is just wonderful, with an extremely saucy logo, so be sure to check those out.
The necklace, earrings and bracelet I am wearing are new from Logo, they are stone chips smoothed and threaded, which I love, and have in seashell and garnets in RL. The Skin I am wearing is the new Amber from League, shown before but today in a tad more detail. The skins come in two different make up packs, one more tame than the other, but both including enough range to really enjoy them. They also have hair bases, freckles and cleavage options, as well as a cover up tattoo for down there if wearing lower cut clothing. Try the demo on the skin is just beautiful to wear, and the body of amber is awesome as usual.

Under the Sea
I issued a Plurk Sunday challenge today, but it doesn’t have to stay confined to plurk. The challenge is that everyone comments on ten blogs, they can be store blogs or fashion blogs, just share a positive thought and spread some joy, as it is always nice to get feedback, and with the many thousands of readers out there, it always amazes me how rare it is to see comments, even if it is just ‘ I love those _____ I am off to shop ‘.
The post today all four looks started with the divine hair from Exile. Kavar Cleanslate is so amazing at offering such a wide range of styles with his hair releases…and these latest ones are just divine, another hat/hair for me to love love love. The first look because of the length and style of the hair under the super cloche hat style, was not so vintage but more modern, which makes for a nice saturday morning brisk weather look,while heading to the local cafe for some breakfast.
The second look is a lot more va va voom, mixing Cynful and Zaara is done twice today, the first with this look has the beertilicious dress with the beautiful distressed shrug. This fluffed out hair is the perfect length to show off how incredible the texture work done by Zaara is. The third hairstyle was very student like, so I went preppy college girl…I know in reality that no college students around here dress like this, but in my mixed reality they do. The skirt was a flf item, but am pretty sure it comes in other colours. The jacket is from the Jane store, which is a new store for creator Janie Marlowe of older Mischief fame…really cute store, and the tank I have on is actually part of a free tank table she has.
The dress on the right is the latest from Zaara, this comes two ways, wrapped with bare skin revealed, or with an underlining colour. For some reason SL ate my underlining version, and while I could have shown the bare, I wanted to experiment with the idea that find the right dress, you can make your own inserts in your own colour choices. Sure enough the Beertilicious from Cynful fit like a dream, and so I wore the light tan colour, which matches the colour of floral print in the crimson dress…YAY.
All of these looks are also showing the latest boots from YS & YS, the creators behind the brand recently took a much needed break and are back and making stuff already. These boots are beautiful, and have a sculpted sock that can be worn with in contrast or not worn at all…there are two tone, and solid versions, in a variety of beautiful colours.
I am also wearing the Amber skin by League, stunning make ups, so many incredible options, cleavage, hair base, freckles. WIth two different packs of make up colours to choose from in wonderful rich tones. Try the demos and I will show more in my next post.

Bend it stretch it anyway you like it
We are nearly halfway through Novemeber already, can you believe it? This year has flown, and yes we say that kind of thing every year, but this one just got crazy manic. With the amount of events, and ‘things’ on each and every week, there just didn’t seem to be a down time at all, you know those weeks that go on endlessly and we all anticipate the next big thing…I miss those boring weeks lol.
A mix of design houses today, in the form of LG Concept and Nyte n day. The jeans I have on both me’s are from LG Concept Femme, and they are really lovely, I especially like the patch work ones, I do admit to it taking a few hours for me to realise that the patches are in fact very religious in nature. But they say you wear your heart on your sleeve, so why not your religion on your pants . The Puiqe set from Nyte n Day is so darling, that it can be worn as a beautiful off the shoulder top, or as the all in one with so sexy flippy skirt. Another great recent item from Nyte n Day is the Capu Hoodie, this hoodie is so soft looking I could spend all day in it for reals. An added bonus is the length of the sleeves.
You may notice I am wearing the new Slink Jolie Hands, yes amazing sculpted hands. These end up at the mid forearm, and while the hud is so easy to use, and you do also have the option of jewelry to hid the seam, sleeves of this length with prims makes it perfect. Not only do you get wonderful nail polish options, but it also now comes with a nailpolish hud for tinting which means colours are endless. Other adorable accessories are the great glasses I am wearing from DECO, both the buddy and cats meow are fun to wear and come in a great variety of colours. It is wonderful having such a good range of real sculpted glasses nowadays.
The new boots I have on are the latest from Courtisane, and come in so many lovely colours, these are some of my favourites available and as usual Enktan of Enkythings built these beautifully. A great way to show off – finally – the Eva skins from Glam Affair is the new Vishe lingerie from Nyte n Day. Tanks long and short, as well as bra options are all great. The Eva skin has a wonderfully youthful look, with incredibly gorgeous pouty lips and beautiful make ups. All topped off with wonderful styles from Magika, that woman is a hair making machine, I cannot wait for more more more.

19.99 a minute
I asked Whimsy tonight, “What do you think we are missing from our blogs” her response “paid Subscribers, 19.99 a minute’ that girl is going to kill me one day. Seriously within minutes every day spent with her I end up choking with laughter, that she then panics because she doesn’t know how to dial 911 for Australia. I keep telling her its 000 and she just laughs at me. Right now she is looking up cheap flights in the UK…why? God only knows, she is just fixated on the fact that they have them lol.
DeLa recently released the Letti cowl neck sweater dress, and while as a dress this is gorgeous, it is killer as a seperate as well. So mixing the upper or lower portions with other pieces, I had a great time. So much of course that I ended it in the blue/choc combo because it is so cute I don’t want to change. I am wearing it in the beige as is, then with the pinkupper only with the new ripped low rise jeans from Nyte n Day, a recent release that are just great. The lower part, which really works well even with a jacket layer above, just a small pull down on the skirt prim, I am wearing with the GORGEOUS Season Sweaters from Fri.day, first with the belt that comes with the dress, and then secondly with the pashmina belt from Veschi that is at The Dressing Room blue for a short time.
The collar on the season sweaters is just amazing, so pretty, and I would love to see this done as a dress, such a beautiful style, that needs more options. Lucky me that the Elsa boots from Surf Co have such similar contrast colour options as the sweaters, so they are a must with these. With all of the pics I am wearing hair by LoQ…relatively new to hair in the past year, such a great release at Hair Fair with the lace cloche’s, these newer styles are all win. The Brucella (black) is actually a special in colour packs on Marketplace for only 50L a pack, a steal, and if you join her subscribo you get another style free as well.

Your Mumma wears army boots
I watched an incredible movie the other day, the idea was that you got to know exactly when you would fall in love with your soul mate. The movie is called timer, and you would think it would be straight forward and all that, but it was amazing the different things that could go wrong, or right as the case may be. What would it change in you ? the idea of knowing that something had a timer on it, wealth, happiness, love…would you be reckless until then? would you be a lazy moo and do nothing lol. All interesting thoughts really, fun film, you should watch it if you see it around.
Speaking of movies, Whimsy and I went to the unveiling of Harbinger last night, it is the latest movie by Phaylen Fairchild, and it is a totally different direction than Divas. This movie was scary, unfortunatly since last night it has gone private on YouTube, but probably just for some last minute editing. So you should look it up when you have a moment and want to be scared out of your wits.
Anyway, on to not scary things. The new boots by Gos are GTFO. These boots are great hiking style boots, with wonderful texturing features, as all Gos items have. This time though it will only be the fat packs that allow for combination changes, otherwise it’s a set look per colour combo. They were a perfect accompaniement to the latest items from Royal Blue, have you seen the new Royal Blue store? it is fabulous, a floating flagship in the sky, you really need to check it out, especially if you have been wanting some of her older items from her leLutka range, as they are all now in her outlet section.
I am wearing her What’s Up Spock leggings ( Marni has the best names for things) with some upper items from Aoharu, the off the shoulder top is just divine, and the simple leather jacket is going to get lots of wear in the future, it is stunning work texture and sculpty wise. The beautiful bag I am wearing on the left is a latest release from Ondyra Originals, the Marina Shoulder tote, such lush colours these come in, and the weave is great, they come with three options for wear, and the colours go with the shoes and clothing also recently released.
In the second pic I am wearing the latest Lounger sets from Fri.day, so fun and comfy, so much so that I went shopping in the sage and even then onto the movie premier in it last night lol. They all come in matchy matchy colours and prints, but you can of course mix and match like I did. The colours are also lovely for extenders under even shorter tops, as they come on all layers. After the movie I had a great time on the “Reap the Wild Wind bookpile’ created by W.Winx (which is of course Whimsy ) this build is amazing fun, and brings you back to those days home sick from school, when you could turn your imagination into the most wonderful of adventures.
You will of course have noticed all the beautiful hair I am wearing in this post, it is all by Elikatira (previously ETD) the styles are just beautiful, and luxurious in texture, I would be so hard pressed to find a favourite, I know that one in particular has been seen sported by many, but I would have to say Vivid the bottom right in the grey is just divine, It has everything and more you can want in a hairstyle….so beautiful.
Which brings me to the last pic, all of this of course wrapping itself around the divine pale version of Mima by LAQ. This skin was released just moments before Halloween, and I didn’t have a chance to show it then, but I don’t think it should only be considered as such, as it has such wonderful make ups, and only two of the skins comes with blood, which can be used for art, machinema, halloween, costumes, or RP, whatever works for you. The tone is beautiful and I decided to bring out the adorable dress by Rotten Toe to do it justice, as well as The Corrector neck corset, that seemed to fit right in.
To even out the visual I went with the latest wings by Material Squirrel, these are so amazing, that Kala has gone on to create in sculpted form, what she has always done with prims, is a testament to the passion and education that Second Life inspires amongst its residents.

The High Res Myth
Often Mel and I discuss questions that often come up in groups, or IMs about different things regarding Second Life limitations. I am not an expert, much of what I know I have learned from others, and by observation. What I do know though is that when I am stumped about something, I tend to go to Mel, and usually he has an incredibly precise answer. This was a recent discussion, and he mentioned that I should do a post on it, so I sent that idea back to him and invited him yet again to share his wisdom. I do hope that you get as much knowledge out of it as I did.

To some, this information is old news, but once in a while I run across designers who misunderstand something and begin to design and advertise “high res” clothing, which is built using 1024×1024 clothing textures with the hopes of allowing for more detail in the clothing design. If this were truly possible, it would be great! Unfortunately, the way the clothing system works in SL, it is not at all beneficial to upload 1024 textures for clothing, and in some cases it is even harmful to the design, as I’ll illustrate below.
For this example, I have made 2 textures containing 1 pixel wide black and white vertical stripes – one with 512×512 pixels, and the other with 1024×1024. The textures were then applied to a skin, and I have photographed the results.
This first skin is using the image with 512 pinstripes on the 512×512 texture. As you can see, the stripes are present in as much detail as the viewer allows.
Here is the skin with 1024 pinstripes on a 1024×1024 texture. As you can see, the detail of the stripes is completely lost, as every pixel has been averaged out to 50% gray.
What happened to the pinstripes?
When you wear clothing layers in SL, there is a process that takes place to attempt to reduce the amount of data that needs to be sent to other avatars who can see you in world. It would require a crazy amount of bandwidth if the asset server had to send over every single texture for every clothing layer of your outfit, so the viewer does a little trick. When you wear an article of clothing, your viewer downloads the individual textures for all the clothing pieces, then sandwiches (bakes) them together into a single image for each of the parts – legs, torso, and head. This allows the entire outfit to fit into 3 textures, instead of the dozens of textures that go into the layers. These 3 textures are then uploaded to the asset server to be sent to anyone who can see your avatar. When the viewer generates these textures, they are generated at 512×512 resolution regardless of what the resolution of the clothing layers actually are! This is why the 1024×1024 resolution images these designers create never actually make it onto the avatar. This gray, unstriped avatar we see above is the result of resizing the 1024×1024 image down to 512×512. The color of each group of 4 pixels gets averaged together, and then turned into 1 pixel as illustrated below.
As a result, the detail of the stripes is completely destroyed, leaving behind only flat gray.
So! If you ever run across a designer claiming to sell “high res” clothes or skins, at least for the time being, they are either mistaken about the limits of SL clothing, or trying to create a false impression that their goods are on another level from those of “normal” designs. In the end, it’s all just a question of what they can fit into the 512×512 pixels they’re allowed, so just look closely at the design and let your eyes do the talking.
