Vamping
Australians didn’t really ‘do’ Halloween. I’m sure I say this every year, but it’s true. We try – it’s kind of funny that, in recent years, decorations and attempts at the concept have started filling our bigger department stores – but it’s still nothing like what happens in the U.S. There are some parties, mostly adults dressing up, but even costume hire places are rare. It ends up being a lot of school girls and guys in Hawaiian shirts – at least, that’s how it was in the ’90s. I remember living in a new area once, and three kids knocked on my door. I was so shocked and unprepared that I gave them money! Luckily, they were the only kids doing it that night, so my bank balance survived. I am sure that there are probably more kid parties now that there are decorations and so on available, this is just my personal experience growing up and so on.
In Second Life, though, costumes are everywhere. I’ve done a few over the years, but today I wanted something more realistic – a look for a Vampire just going about her evening. And here it is: a more casual ‘vamping’ look.
The whole thing started with the tights. If you don’t know already, Alaska Metropolitan of AlaskaMetro moved a lot of her older content to an Outlet Marketplace page a few months back. It’s a huge effort – changing permissions, passing things over, repacking – but so worth it. Everything is 10L per item, which is a steal! There are so many beautiful items, and these tights are a fun find. I grabbed them in all the available colours.
Izzie Button of Izzie’s recently released some Vampire bites and Werewolf bites – seriously, the detailing is incredible! There’s even a lighter version for a more worn-in look. The bite marks on my neck are perfect, and there are options for all parts of the body. So creepy, so good. I paired them with makeup and brows by Nuve for a fun and fabulous look. I like to imagine the eyebrow slit/scar happened when I tried to fight off the first Vampire that bit me. Since the injury happened before I was turned, I’ve still got it – TV logic, right?
The latest C88 release by Exile includes a hair option you can wear as a single colour or a duo split down the middle. This combo is my two most-used colours, so it’s perfect for me. I’ve also got on a snuggly sweater by Fashionably Dead, which is funny because I kind of am fashionably dead. Vampires are cold to the touch, after all, so I wanted something cosy between me and my future friends/victims. The bag was actually made for a different body – SLink – but it fits Reborn perfectly with the fluffiness of the sweater. Mutresse always delivers, with customisable options and different ways to hold it (hand hold, shoulder hold, etc.). The shorts are by Cynful, and you can customise the frayed edges and even contrast them with other colours in your chosen pack.
I often mention ‘Bloggers Fate’ in my posts, while looking up if I have ever named a post in the past ‘Vamping’, I realised that the only other time I have posted with Vamp in the heading, I was also wearing Exile Hair. I enjoy those happy coincidences.
