Being a kid of the 70’s Safari stuff was all the rage, for men and women. I have mentioned in the past that my Mum had a few of the jumpsuits, and most of the men I knew and even some boys my age had little safari suits or the safari shirts. The look is timeless, it comes around every once in a while, and each take on the look gets more inviting, and this dress by Vinyl is inviting in a whole range of ways.

Firstly the belt is texture change and even the belt style is right on the money. Those belts were so good at staying fixed that you often had to wrestle with them to get them to let you free again. The buttons, the creases and the pockets all fantastic, even the unbuttoned look works great. Personally, as I have said in the past on numerous occasions the shading nipple look is not my personal taste, because they often are not strong enough to give that much detail to the kind of fabric used, but also it makes me personally self-conscious to be high beaming all over the place. However this dress is not overly shaded, it is a little more – you are not wearing a bra – than anything, so it works. I do wish stores would give us the option of yes or no, but again that is me.

I also got to wear this great hairstyle I grabbed at Shiny Shabby the other day that comes down enough at the front so that again it subdues the look. With the military safari combination look, these boots came out great, with the ability to change the slip cover portion to the similar colour as the dress, and the heels part similar to the belt. They are going to protect my ankles from any nasty critter bites I may need to avoid in the jungle.

The jeep is a full perms by Meli Imako, I threw the texture in PS to make the colour work, it was neon green to start with, it is often fun for props and the like for pictures to just grab some full perms and make it how you need it.

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of Tempura Island, a beautiful sim that is so graciously supported by the Mandala team of Kikunosuke, Chikae and Polly. Many years have passed and many times I have visited the island to just enjoy the gift that it really is as a location for any and all to enjoy. There is the beautiful formal setting for dancing or just enjoying time with friends or loved ones, then there are the outdoor areas that are either lovely to just relax in, or to take up a poseball and get your Tai Chi on.

I was honoured to be asked to write up something for their website commemorating this decade milestone and you will find my best wishes as well as many who have also delighted in this wonderful sim. I wish everyone a very happy 10th Anniversary and hope that it reminds everyone to take some really important time to explore this great world we have here, and be proud that we are part of such a fantastic community each and every day.

The excitement is real people, the ability to make a cuppa, get comfy on the sofa and slowly go through some great makeup options is coming to you live on the 27th May. Now I personally see people often asking after makeup appliers, where can I find this or that, and people throw some names at them and off they run. But this new LOOKBOOK HUD system is going to save you a lot of TPing around, and give you the things you may have not known you were ever in need of until you see them there live and lovely.

On the 27th of May as in very very soon, you can get this HUD for FREE! from either the Marketplace store or locations at various stores around the grid. The heads catered to in the HUD are LeLutka and Catwa primarily, but you will also find that some of the creators have included Omega, other heads and even System layers for people that do not wear mesh heads, or for the upcoming baked on mesh.

Once you first wear the HUD you can choose to search using the option at the top of the HUD and input the name of the store you know is participating, or if you are unsure, you can type a store you like and see if they are participating. The other great thing about something like this is that you can be introduced to a brand you may never have found tping around the grid, and now you have them on your radar to visit their store when you are finished lounging at home shopping from the HUD.

Ok so again you wear the HUD, you find an item you have interest in, and you click the DEMO to try, it will send you a demo immediately and then you can buy from either the brand button for the head you wear, or the main picture which means you get all the options available. When you first select an item it will ask you to grant it permissions to accept payment from you. If you try and buy something you have already purchased it will just send it again, this HUD will be something you can go back to over the month if you do not buy it all in one go.

The HUD has options for lipsticks, eyeshadows, eyes, lashes and some very cute highlights for the face. Something for many of your makeup needs. I tried on many items from many great creators and put together some collages of the looks on my wonderful new Faith skin by Glam Affair that is at Kustom9.  I am also rocking out another great top for the Slink Petite Augments, and rocking is right, rocking and rolling.

So this time I got a little nostalgic, as well as thankful for the great friends I have, one of whom is Ashia Tomsen and her input of letters and colours in the last few weeks for my posts. It reminded me that years ago Dove Swanson of Long Awkward Pose did a few sets of poses named after some friends of hers, I was honored to be one of them, and most of the people I also knew, so decided to turn it into a post where I used the pose and then dressed as the person, my own take on their style etc. The post is HERE and some of the names will be familiar to you still today.

So with that being a thing I do, even years later, today’s letters are based on Ashia’s name, and the look that to me represents her style and fun. It was also a way to show that even though on my feet, she wears shoes very rarely, but if she is wearing shoes, they are usually something as incredible as these by Azoury, and she is a huge fan of Azoury so it was perfect. The outfit is all the things, some punk for the UK and her colours red and black, also she does like to show her bottom off – dodges the smack she just sent me telepathically.

She loves her ink, and while not a huge tattoo wearer, for me Izzie’s is the perfect mix of delicate when it comes to tattoo adornments. Ears, well she has probably every type of ear style that is available in Second Life, and I know she is a big fan of Swallow. These elf ears are so cute, the chainwork and detailing are really lovely. I did find it a bit fiddly with skin matching at first, their texture options are very high quality, so it sometimes does not translate when skins are a bit more matte. But I got there eventually and only had to do a tiny blend for my picture just because.

The hair was also an easy reach, being an A name just happened to be convenient but Adoness is a much-beloved stylist for shaved looking side styles or just your roar kind of look. I am not using a shaved base in this pic though, using the default hairbase in the LeLutka head hud because it has very similar highlights as the black hair textures on the Adoness hair, so it is very nice together.

Ashia killed my inventory, she chose the letter Q and apparently I have no Q stores in my inventory at all, it finally happened, we found the literal missing link. Well no wearable Q’s anyway, I had some paths full perm from something or other, but that doesn’t count. However, as it is my blog and my rules, there is nothing saying that the Q cannot be name of creator and of course the most famous Q I know is Queue Marlowe who at one time many moons ago arrived in SL and literally broke the internet with her swinging ponytails back in the days long before mesh and even sculpts. First time I met her face to face she was a mermaid, and many moons later I see her on rollerskates, still not sure how she managed that transition. Queue is, of course, the creator behind the amazing hair store Analog Dog, and my letters today are Q, Z, J and M. So my hair starts with a Z so that makes it all the better.

Also making the style better is the option to wear with or without bangs, and once I selected this stunner hairbase by Just Magnetized it just enhanced the style so much. First of all, with the LeLutka head HUD I was able to tint the hairbase layer, which is worn on the tattoo layer, as it uses the SL UV. The second important thing is that due to alpha sorting issues, with hairbases and alpha in hair when near the scalp, I went into edit on the hair strands affected and on the textures tab changed the alpha mode to NONE. You want to be able to do this to the particular strand and face that is alpha, not the whole hair or you lose a lot of detail. I did a post on this kind of thing in the past HERE.  In my main post, I turned the strands 100 transparent, because depending on the style you may need to do that too. But with the comments, you will see the suggestion on None which works in cases better when hair is over the top of itself, as you do not see that it has had alpha removed. So whatever works for you, it does help to not have holes in your hairbase or hairline.

The colour theme was GREEN today and did you see those letters, Ashia was being cheeky. I wanted to show this stunner of a dress by Mutresse, and this colour green is just divine, so much so that even my little Jian puppy has the same green in her bow wardrobe, so it must be a winner when such a stylish little pup has it too. With all the delights that come from Mutresse, you have the options to change the colours on each individual part of the dress, giving me the ability to break it up with some beautiful nude/beige to correspond perfectly with my shoes by Pure Poison.

The other favourite feature of the dress is the exposed neckline without showing anything at all, and yet really highlighting the perfection of the correct skin options when wearing such a neckline. We are lucky that many skinners give options for the breast shading on their skins, and yet often I see people using the pushup overly enhanced options when wearing clothing that could not possibly have that much support. For a more realistic look such as this dress offers no cleavage option is the skin type you want to wear.

These sandals/boots were part of a Mod theme in the past, and yet because of the ability to colour change the different parts of the shoes, I can bring them all to one texture option and they look sensational with this dress. Then as all good things end with a Z, you know the alphabet and my post, Zaara immediately comes to mind, by store and by name of course. This jewellery set is divine, as are all the ones she has done over the years, and I wish she would do more and more. Her textures are always perfectly gorgeous and her combinations of the right colour balances just really enhanced this whole look.

Pink she says, but what kind of pink, that is the question. The letters were DRLB so it was an instant stretch and bend and grab ROWNE. That settled that as soon as I saw this jersey skirts options included this gorgeous Coral Pink. Coral has its moments, and when using a flattish kind of fabric, does not always have the right kind of impact, but this is not flat, it is grab a hold of you awesome. The meshwork on this skirt is fantastic, and the texturing just levels it up. I knew instantly based on the colour and the finish which shoes would give me the exact match and I was correct. The Garbaggio shoes I got at the recent Shoetopia come with about a zillion colours and I did try and wear as many as I could in one day.

They are very now but with such a nod to vintage that they just get me. Other coral delights are in the form of this bustier by Narcisse, it has inlaid lace in black, so marrying that with this shoulder jacket by Blueberry was painless. The fit over is perfection, and I just adore the combination.

I put on this hair by Runaway and I went to Ashia’s IM declaring that someone was possessing my inventory, because there was no chance I owned this hair for three years and it has not appeared on my head in pictures, she, of course, reminded me that that is very much me, because when we tend to hair shop we often leave with many many styles or wear one and then buy another and wear that and then end up buying five more and yeah, you can see how one can slip past. I once left a store with 13 styles in one go and it wasn’t even a sale.

This style is adorable and when I did that back shot I wanted so badly to just grab some scissors and chop off the length and have a stunning concave bob HOW AWESOME would that be…just look at the profile of this style, I may need to camp out at Runaway and demand a Nicki v3.

The accessories really complimented the whole biker baby look, with the necklace from Lagyo being all leather and screw goodness, and then this spiked headband by Remarkable Oblivion that is just epic, and perfectly works with this style of hair.

Today was brought to you by the colour Purple – had to happen because my friends are evil – and the letters L V B W. Ok not really today it was more like two days ago, but sheesh doesn’t time fly.

I snickered at these letters a little because honestly it just kept me as I was for the most part, but I removed and reapplied myself. So worth it too, because honestly, this top and bottom combination needs to be a thing, like for real the merging of the new skirt by Blueberry with the older top by Coco made a hybrid formal affair like look that I would wear to death. I was itching to make the skirt also black but I held sort of true to the colour given which was purple, and anyone reading me forever knows that purple and I are not fulltime friends, though never misunderstand me, it is not all purples it is one particular purple, but as much as I loathe it for really stupid personal reasons, it just taints the rest into an I do not like purple feeling. Also, anyone reading me over time would have heard all this before so I will move on.

The skirt is a must-have item by Blueberry, not only does it look this gorgeous this way, it has print options and also silver belt adornments that make you want to ROCK THE KASBAH! It is gypsy love right there, but I tamed down, and I do so love when creators have an idea in mind but give us the latitude to really incorporate our own mindset into a garment, so it has belted options on or off, and panties built in that can turn off or on depending on if you have your own you would prefer to wear.

This purple is a purple yes for me, and it is so light and muted in such an elegant way,  then with the addition of the black wrap crop top the sash tie at the front cascading down really looked at home with the incredibly high thigh split in the skirt, made for each other they are.

The purple did not end there, and because of the style of the skirt thigh highs such as these delights by Breathe were a must. I love the detail on the fabric of these wrap shoes, so realistic and perfect choice in structurally sound material for the style. The tie at the top was perfect to balance with the tie on the top, all things in harmony.

Now do not be mad, but the really cool harness type necklace thing I have on is no longer available, it seems Wimey never listed it on their Marketplace and are not around anymore, I did a quick search as to when last in world. So too long to suggest IMing her and asking her to add it. But as I have said in the past, seeing it may make you either remember you also purchased it when it was around, or that you have other pieces or can find other pieces that will look equally amazing, or even just being bare will work too, but I was going for my W so yeah that happened. It is not something I aim to do ever, so I do apologise, but it can happen that items we have get discontinued or the creator decides to only feature it at an event etc.

This hair was a remembering hair too, I had forgotten that this hair comes in two parts, it was designed to be a shaven sides style, but the additional part of hair was also included so that you had full coverage, this is a win for people that will back and forth, but also just a really sexy style by Lamb.

I love this look, and I often really like building a hybrid look for formal occasions, because they definitely have you standing out from a crowd and also much less chance of someone turning up in the same dress. The addition of the gloves was not only awesome, because they are appliers by Luxuria as part of one of her great lingerie sets, but it reminded me that my favourite gloves of all time were created by the same creator years back and came in varying lengths and wow when baked on mesh comes back you really may just hate me then, because I will not be able to resist and may just have to beg Roslyn to bring them back to life.

This time Ashia was around at just the right time, she is often online in my afternoons her mornings, she gets up so early to bring you the delights of her blogging and incredibly beautiful photography at her site Inventory Episode.  So this time I asked first, what colour? and she replied with ‘Red of course’ so I asked what kind, cherry/tomatoe or blood, which was reacted to with a resounding blood, also of course…mind you I was wondering if perchance she was feeling vintagey and her reply was she is waiting for Vintage Fair for that – when it happens you will get all your info at Pale Girl Productions.

So the joy of this letters and colour thing just got so much more exciting for me, the unknown, the way things can come together and be years apart in creation, just so wonderful to me that I amped it up by adding a fourth letter. Again there are other lettered stores in my post, but to incorporate that way is too cool and it really made me reach into different areas.

Letters are K, N, J and S and I started with the K, getting all excited about Katat0nik as I really looked forward to seeing what I could utilise there, and also got excited remembering some great system layer stuff that can be used in the future when baked on mesh is live. This adorable capelet was my discovery and while Katat0nik was doing her own variations of mesh sizing back at the start the options fit with my Slink Hourglass body, I am wearing what was named ‘Divine’ as an option.

At first, I was thinking to wear dress slacks, but then this gown by Just Because worked a treat, them being the perfect J store. I had tried a few of their gowns, as they do spectacular formal work, but something just wasn’t right and then venom called to me and bam and wowza it was a winner. Something about the capelet feeling very victorian and the gown so evil and delicious it was like becoming a kind of villianess character from those times, or an evil alien Queen from some B-Grade 60’s cult classic film. Whatever way it works.

The hair is a new release from Exile and he always does such a perfect updo, and this one, the elegance of the bun, the low sit of it at the nape of the neck but still very structured also lent to the timeline, while it could be seen as conservative in some looks or severe in others, it still comes off incredibly feminine and I needed that severity.

Once you have a snake wrapped around your torso, you cannot help but think of all things garden like, so these cage horns with roses and this gag were just needed to bring it all home. The gag was an intended search in my inventory because many moons ago I did another post called Ballgowns and Ballgags, and well you know why not revisit a theme – I cannot believe it has been 8 years since I did that.

My S choice and one that really made me go seeking outside the norm for me was with Slack Girl cosmetics. I actually have a lot of makeup appliers and the like, but often stick with what is included with the skin, or just go natural. So this was a chance to really seek more than that and it was also just perfection the eyeshadow has this swirly coiled like finish around the catliner in colours that I was able to tint to a deeper red, to go perfectly with my look and lashes that are just different enough to be fun. The N is N-Core and even if you cannot see my shoes, I always credit them, even if hidden under clothing, because it is about providing info on things I think would work well with that look, or just providing info to a great shoestore. I did want you to see the shoes though, so that is them there off to the side. One fell over, I think it is drunk.

When I was relatively new to the internet, and chatrooms etc, one of the funnest things to do was search for Generators, there seemed then to be Generators for so many weird things, and add on 15 years and they abound. So when I logged on yesterday and Ashia was not around yet to hassle, I remembered this and searched Random Letter Generator. This is the one that I found HERE, and it was simple and to the point, I wanted 3 letters, and one set of them, I could have put in 7 and had my week sorted, but lets just go with 1.

There are all sorts of tools like this on the vast expanse of web we have, and it is funny how useful and often used they become.  So the letters I got this time around were E, P and I, Ashia logged in not long after and was feeling the yellow, and as I am often feeling yellow, this worked out great.  For the E I went with Everglow poses, they have packed up their inworld location recently-ish, and you will only find them on Marketplace.

I had not yet worn this dress by Pixicat that was a past Gacha item, and while I am not as into blogging gacha that often, it was such a perfect style for the look. I enjoy a good gacha just like everyone, but when blogging it is a bit more difficult to feature a clothing item in a particular colour that is not going to be something someone can just get, without taking a gamble.

Fashion blogging as I have said in the past though, is not always about a complete look, it should be a visual idea that someone can either replicate by shopping or finding pieces that are similar enough to be inspired by. It also means that you can look at the look someone else creates and build on it, or be reminded that you also have a top or bottom similar etc. You must always add you, that is what makes a look a look, your own stamp on it.

Ok so back to the clothing and shoes, the shoes while not in my letters brought the whole look together, they are by Breathe, and come in such a lovely soft yellow as an option. The crossing straps follow the movement that the dress has with the lacing, so it all becomes cohesive, the light parts to the dress are also very similar in tone to the shoes colour and so it all marries really well.

I like the idea that top to toes I am a mix of straps and laces and it all just seems really together. The dress having a sari like influence then lead me to the latest n21 release by Yummy of these divine festival rings. Not only rings but also hand attachments, that are made to work with the Dynamic hands by Slink, there is also a Maitreya version to buy.

You can change the metal and the stone colours, and have the option to hide and show different parts of the rings, but in this pic, I wanted them to have all their glory. Speaking of glory, this hair, my goodness. It is from Iconic my last letter, and it is just brilliant. It even comes with a styling HUD that gives you options for behind one shoulder and strands across neck and well you will just have to see when you try it yourself. It is a fantastic mix of longest hair and braids, and made me giggle imagining the poor hairdresser having to stand at least a metre back from my chair as she got to the ends. I could not even imagine the level of exhaustion this must take, I would make the client lay on the floor, seems that would make more sense.

Ongoing mission of getting back in touch with my inventory…I asked Ashia, three letters and a colour, F, R, S she said and Black…I laughed and then said COLOUR! so then I got Blue. It was so simple, three stores starting with those letters and a colour. The hair was a no brainer, Red Mint! and as soon as I put it on and the HUD was clicked trying to move it out of the way I was suddenly blue haired, yay for non rezzing random clicks that are on your side.

This hair was a few years ago release for RM and it still rocks in terms of style and options, the band is so perfect and has colours to choose from, there is also a locks hud that lets you change some of the pre-selected strands of the hair to a different colour. I kept to the blue, adding a different shade, so not really noticeable but enough to be cooler.

In Australia it is funny because if you were called bluey as a nickname it is because you have red hair not blue hair, but you know, got to mix things up a bit. Now funnily enough I had just been in IM with Toast Bard of Fashionably Dead fame prior to asking for letters, so when F was one of them that made that simple. I have been loving the creations coming out of that store for many years, and this top while not blue – I do have it in blue also – was the perfect break up to the blue I was in need of. The grey is perfect and the style of tunic top is gorgeous, with just that right amount of side boob one needs in a look like this.

Again a perfect item that fit over another perfect item, the leggings I mentioned in a previous post that I got with that tied waist sweater. These leggings are so cute, and sporty, there is even an option for a stripe down the side for a more athletic look if wanted. I chose the solids and the blue was perfect. That just left my S which even though I wear Slink all the live long day, with my body, hands and feet, I really liked the casual not casual look of my clothing and with the whole bluey thing in my mind, the Aussie thongs by Slink were just too great not to wear. Thong worship is actually harder than you may think, I was for many years not a wearer, I did not wear them growing up, because my non Aussie Mum thought that they were ridiculous and so bad for my feet.

So when I did finally try and get my thongs on, they hurt like hell, oh the pain, oh the inability to walk backwards, oh the tripping over as the rubber folds under your feet. These are real Aussie problems. Eventually though you build up resistance, or perhaps calluses in between your big and second toe, but I finally was able to wear them, and funnily enough my faves are also blue, blue hibiscus on darker blue.

This darling bag is by Baiastice, not one of my letters, but definitely adorable and so needed, because I need somewhere to stash my band-aids in case the pain comes back, or I fall over and end up with a bloody knee – more Aussie Girl problems, or maybe I am just clumsy, Mel says I need to walk around with tissue boxes on my feet to protect myself.
