Fashion For Life has been going strong for nearly a week already, wow time flies. The event covers 9 full sims and the builds are incredible. One of my favourites reminds me of old hollywood, and it is often that I wonder why they don’t sell all these incredible builds for more fundraising money, after the event.

The map at the bottom gives you a good idea of how the sims are layed out, I suggest a packed lunch and an alarm clock in case you have to go pick up kids or whatever in RL, because you could easily lose yourself amongst the beauty. Cajsa has done some great pics for Second Life Stock Images group in case you want to use some for blog posts etc.

Todays post is a mix of Pacific Crisis Fundraiser as well as Fashion for Life. The Clothing pieces I am wearing are all Fashion for Life pieces, the beautiful system skirt and frilly blouse ensemble are from Adam n Eve, and I do so love me a system skirt made with such attention to detail, and the frilly blouse is all win. The long boho dress on the right is from Nicky Ree and is part of the hunt at Fashion For Life and so beautiful, definitely perfect for the hair created by Exile for the PCF, the beautiful Sakura hair has texture change hair cherry blossoms, hence the name Sakura, it also has a no flower option.

The silvery and grey party frocks from Baiastice and Vanitas Vestures, are fun and lively, great for going out for nights dancing and dating. The stunning skin I am wearing is from Pink Fuel and is also a PCF item, that is out as a preview of the release to come.

I am again using all the poses created as a collab for PCF, they are really well done, and a bargain for sure.

    Pacific Crisis Fundraiser

    PCF1

    PCF2

In times of trouble and need in the world, Second Life residents as usual come through in a pinch. Since the news came down last week, hundreds of items have been placed at the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser location that the generous Glam Affair people have donated to the cause.

Keira Seerose, Sanura Snowpaw and many other incredible team members have come together to get this ready for its opening today. Whimsy and I also helped out a little, I was able to help a few creators find and set up at the location when others weren’t online, which was nice, and Whimsy dashed to and fro a few times also. We also did a collab piece for the event, an Arbor set that we worked really hard on getting ready in time.

A majority of the items I am wearing in this post are from there, including the beautiful new skin Sakura by Glam Affair, such an incredibly beautiful Asian inspired skin. The hair – in reds only – is from Magika and is also set up at the location. I love Magikas reds so it was win win for me.

The wheat and aqua coloured tops I am wearing are from DCNY, have you noticed they have had one hell of a make over lately? if not, then get your head out of whatever else has got your attention and go look, the vendor ads are gorgeous and it is all now being managed and properly taken care of by Anessa Stine.

The items available at this fundraiser are amazing, the support and the pulling together of so many incredible brands has been wonderful. Already they have raised a few hundred thousand lindens before even opening, based on purchases and donations made by the generous designers and helpers setting up the event.

All the poses I am using in this post are part of a huge collaboration effort between some incredibly giving posers, so make sure you pick up that incredible pack while there, it’s a bargain too.

Go forth and shop for a great cause……

Ok so first off letting you know that Hair Fair applications opened today, we already have over 70 stores involved, so exciting. I also wanted to show you all a blog post done by Gidge Uriza for a RL blog that has actually been syndicated, the post is incredibly written, and shows her incredible talent for taking you with her through a story. Congratulations Gidge, blog post HERE.

Mon Tissu had a release last week and only now have I had the chance to show the finery. The jean jacket I am wearing comes in a great choice of denims, and there are two sizes in the pack so fitting was blissful. Worn over a striped halter that you saw last week in red from LaViere and with some older but so hot jeans from Nyte n Day. The belt is also a new Mon Tissu item and the leather work is superb.

Moving over one more me to another mix and match with the same bottoms, and then adding the delicate Crepe blouse from LaViere. This style top is so popular right now, but is definitely a throw back to the same style of the 70’s. Some chunky beaded jewelry and bangles and the fabulous new hair from Exile and I am systems go.

Another very 70’s look is the Maxi dress, one of the Mon Tissu releases, this has been created using flexy and sculpted floor length prims, then adding an alpha layer for the legs. The alpha layer allows your legs to not show through the prims when you walk or move, so it can take getting used to, more like your hover walking or hobble walking Morticia Addams style. I definitely prefer the effect than glitch panted legs jutting out.

The next dress is a LaViere Tulip Dress, you get two options with this dress, you get the skirt I am wearing with the light layer, or all the one colour, so I am loving the chance to also wear the French Pouf again by Mon Tissu that comes in the same delightful cream of the contrasting colour on the adorable dress.

These two stores definitely have pallettes that compliment eachother which is always a big plus.

New skins, New Hair, a Rebranding,  New boots, a SALE and so much more…

SLink is having a diamond sale for at least a week, it started yesterday with the release of the Whitney boots, three in one booths that come in tall, short and short with socks. 8 Stunning leathers to choose from and for a crazy week these beauties are only 99L a pair, and if you wear group title the fat pack is only 400L. Also if you wear the SLink group tag, any items with the diamond near them, you will get a 50% refund back from your purchase, but you MUST wear the group tag.

Pure Juice is still on if you haven’t been, and the latest Chic Limited event for March is about to start later today. So the pics of four me’s are a mix of those and other items. The STUNNING and incredible poses I am using with the incredible prim petals cascading and twirling around me, are by aDORKable, and are part of the Chic Limited events Elements theme, this set of prop and poses is incredible. I did simple pics but the art ones you could accomplish is just another feather in aDORKables creative cap.

All of the hair I am wearing in this post is from Milana, a rebranding of Dernier Cri now that the owner has joined forces with a friend to bring you these new styles and so much more hair. Milana is starting off strong, and the dye huds are back bigger than ever. Make sure you go over and try all the demos, there are so many different looks to check out.

Curio is about to release the new Lustre skin, and wow what a skin for Gala. This skin is definitely a step in the more mature face direction, because I would not recognise it as a curio had I not seen it myself. Ok maybe I would, as there are a few tell tale signs, but it is definitely a skin for all those that worried past skins were a little too youthful for them. DEMO DEMO DEMO.

    Pure Juice Poster

Ok todays little piece of valuable info comes in the form of Customer Service. Don’t panic, it is just something I have been noticing a lot of lately. If you are in customer service, if you own a store/business or work in one…do not have your profile hidden from others in your preferences. You may have done it years ago, you may have thought it made no difference because you just thought it was freaky with the old system that people could see if you were online or offline, but now it actually means people cannot locate you without going through a prim, notecard or group – in some of the viewers.

If your profile is not searchable, you are not providing painless customer service, and by the time someone already possibly upset can get a hold of you they are going to be doubly upset. Also if you hire staff be sure your staff take the hide off of theirs, because again, if they cannot be reached and you have it in your profile they are your contact for all things business related, you just kind of made everything look a little silly.

I tackled a few things in this post, first off Pure Juice event is still going strong, and the dresses I have on are from Peqe and Riddle, both participants in this event. Both of them are great going out dresses, the riddle one is so pretty and the fabric is beautiful, the Peqe one is lovely and a little more fancy. It also gave me a chance to wear my new Lime Hat from LODE, we all went hat shopping this week as Newdoll explained on her new blog Scantily Clad.

Also from Pure Juice are the poses by Di’s I did only use them for the pic on the left, but they are really lovely, and I could really see using them for more creative pics.

I got a sneak peak at a stunning Jewelry set by MOOD it’s the Chrysalis. This set is scripted to not only size change, but also has some incredible chainl textures and pendant textures all in the new HUD system that is really pretty and easy to use, it will be released in the coming weeks at MOOD

Wearing some of my favourite shoes from Maitreya the Chi Chi pumps are now and always must haves, they are so cute and stylish, and the texture change for the ties is so cool, giving a contrast look that provides lots of different combos to wear, the golden in the velvet is so close to real gold in look, divine shoes.

I have been wearing Liu by YS & YS a lot this week, it is such a striking skin, you really need to try on the demos, I really like how pretty YS & YS is, and all of the extras make it a definite skin to try when searching for a great look with mass appeal.

Second Life Blogs! what, when, why?

    BC1

What is it you like about blogs? Is flicking through them at a fast pace, and only pausing long enough to grab the details of something that catches you eye? Do you, like I do, actually hope to be stopped by words, some bit of insight into the mechanics behind choice, what drives the blogger to put together a look, what the blogger has to say?

Over the years I have learned many things from blogs and bloggers, other than the wonderful places to pick up an item that I would have otherwise not known about. I remember Sol Collumbia doing a post a thousand years ago about Ctrl 0 and Ctrl 9 it was sometime in 2007 and I remember running to Fiachra who makes Essentia Jewelry and worked with the smallest of prims he created, long before nanos existed, and told him of this amazing thing, it sure took a lot of strain off his neck and eyes.

The combination of Canimal and Caliah both doing windlight settings posts, that didn’t teach me how to make one, that I already knew,  but it was through those posts that I learned the idea of saving them to move from viewer to viewer, because who knew back then we would even end up with third party viewers and have to shake it all about.

I myself did a post after all the hullaballoo about them stopping us from using SL in our blog names, or having to TM everytime we refered to something LL based, where I refered to LL as the Mothership and Second Life as Phils Place, which actually prompted Chic Aeon to change the name of her blog so that they couldn’t give her drama.

I remember seeing Ryker blog about Xeniversity and the maya courses being held there, and how so many have since done them, that it has actually benefitted the overall quality of many stores items. If she hadn’t done that post, do you think it would have spread as far? Strawberry has been doing incredible tutorials for budding photographers and bloggers, and Katey Coppola of Glitterati has even done some amazing youtube ones for after the pic taking and wanting to make some adjustments and stuff in PS.

GoGo has done some emoter and lighting tutorials, and Cyclic has done some pattern making tutorials, which probably made many a designer up and coming or older go ooooo.

It was announced recently that LL thinks most of the information about Second Life is gathered and shared at Facebook, or some such nonsense, seriously I know that isn’t the exact wording, but I am a bit too miffed to give it too much space or foundation.

The fashion blogs, and all of the other information and sharing blogs that come from Second Life experience are amazing. I for one miss the planet feeds mainly for that reason, not only did I cherish the fashion planet feed, but the regular information blogs one too. A lot of the time it didn’t make sense to me, and a lot of it ran together, yes it was a big cluster of mess sometimes, but every few posts there would be something that let me know what was going on in my world other than a shoe sale.

New World Notes, Daniel Voyager ,  Phaylen Fairchild and Crap Mariner are the first that spring to mind when it comes to staying up with what’s down, or at least being entertained in some way on a different level for my brain. There was definitely a true disconnect, for me at least when I read that statement, I mean who the hell goes to Facebook for Second Life related info, we all know you go to the blogs, twitter or plurk…I do miss though when there was a lot more sharing on the blogs and in world though. I tend to think that many feel that plurk and twitter are all that is needed when sharing something important, but with timelines whizzing past, and the fact that you actually have to be following the ones that do things, a lot of valuable info is kind of lost. Or often I think that so much is shared via 100+ characters that people feel like they have said it already, so they don’t need to go further with it to the blogs or in world avenues.

I know I am rambling and weaving in and out of a point, but I just miss that sense of community we used to have, and don’t get all dramatic and demand we still do, I am not saying we don’t have a community, I am referring to how it used to be, something got lost somewhere, whether it is because there is so much to take in that all gets filtered out, or maybe it is just that everything has gotten so hard especially with blogging that just to get a picture to the page is hard enough. I know sometimes it can take 6 hours to take a few pics because of LL issues, and that is just so painful.

Anyway, I would just like to know what you like about blogs, why you read them or just skim, what if any really old informative posts you remember and by who, and why you think that they stood out to you most.

    On to the fashion.

The hair I am wearing is the latest from Elikatira, see now there is another memory, Elika used to have a hair texture making tutorial on her old website, that is a tutorial I wish was still around. It is a lovely style, a bit on the mature side and definitely a permanent cut style for those that like sticking to one for a long time.

I am of course having a creamy chocolate day today, so with pieces from LG Femme, you have the beautiful secretary skirt which is the fabulous system skirt on the left, with the cinched waistband look, due to wanting I am sure to hide the top of system skirts that many seem to not like, I myself don’t care either way, for me it just means this skirt can give me two looks.

Then on the right you have the new lace leggings also from LG Femme, these are pantyhose in style with a zippered upper. they do come with cuffs at the ankles, but they were a bit too flarey for me what with the lace being so tight and all. So I opted for the typhoon boots from Paper Couture, the two tone look worked especially well with the stunner Digii highwaisted skirt from Luck Inc, I love that you can see the thin belt poking from under the gorgeous blazer I am wearing from 5th and Oxford, seriously if you don’t get over there and buy it all you are INSANE, as they are closing it down eventually, and this coat is actually from the mens side, with all mens looks only 50L buy everything.

Also from there of course are my all time favourite leather gloves on the further right me. Whimsy and I went to the To One Lounge event at the SLOW sim, and inside a cute little store is a whole slew of gorgeous dresses and items from various japanese designers. The unfortunate thing about the event is that for some reason nearly all of the items are called To One Lounge, and many do not even have the name of the store they came from…so make sure if looking for creator you look at the clothing layers, not the prims, because prims can sometimes lead you the wrong way.

The background is of course from the Second Life Stock Images Group on flickr, but is actually shot at Innsmouth a fantastic sim I once did a post at that took me so long trying to line myself up and get the right lighting etc, so now with the pics I already took I didn’t have to mess around that way lol.

    On the Boardwalk

    La1

    LaViere

I love a day of nautical looks, the red white and blue look is always so much fun.

LaViere is a new store with a not so new owner. Azure Elictricteeth is the designer of the familiar brand Tee*fy and she has branched out into a more upscale brand LaViere. Full of bright colours and incredible prints. I am starting off with the halter top and loose capris, and you can see they are just wonderful together or on their own as staples for your wardrobe.Make sure you go outside when you visit LaViere as the new location and build is just lovely, and I actually wish I had taken some shots of it for this post, but alas didn’t think of it until afterwards, I will go back another time though for sure, her build is just lovely.

Actually, wait a moment or ten, I am going to go now, it is just too nice not to share.

Ok I am back, I got some nice pics of the location lol. So anyway, as I was saying it is a beautiful build and some really gorgeous items are coming out of Azures fingertips.

Perfect for my nautical look is the wonderful Andrea hat/hair by Amacci, she has recently released a few spring to summery looks like this, and I especially love this upturned large brim one.

    Scantily Clad

The amazing and talented Newdoll Nikolaidis has started a new blog, a blog that is specific to a particular fashion item, that being Lingerie, now of course things like hair, jewelry, skins and shoes will also end up in there, otherwise she would look a little funny. All in all I am so excited to have her do this, and to be able to watch it spring forth from an idea to the very first of many posts that started today.

So join me in celebrating the launch of ScantilyCladSL , your go to for the future for the sensual and sexy delights that make up some of the finest unmentionables in Second Life.

    Subculture Challenge Ganguro

    G

Sileny Noel came up with an incredible challenge last week , the Subculture Challenge, where you send her an IM with two numbers between 1 and 44 and you get sent back two subcultures. You have no idea what they are going to be, and the range is amazing. So I sent off my numbers and VOILA!

I got Ganguro , this was awesome, as Mel and I have been watching so much anime lately, and he has been reading lots of manga, so I actually knew what this was sort of lol. Anyway I was excited, so I endeavoured to try my hand at making the make up layer myself, and even though it isn’t the best, not even close, I had fun with it.

Definitely the perfect week though for LeLutka to release hair with roots lol, and all the vibrant colours I own in awesome clothing due to fatpack love, I was able to go directly to items I knew I had, even though most already blogged in the past in other colours. I also got the chance to show off my new KaS ballet boots I got this week, the boots are not only stunning in design, but they are colourchange from a full rainbow hud, so you can colour match to anything anytime. Not only can you change the whole boot, but you can opt to change every part of the boot individually or parts together, giving you a crazy combination or a stylish contrast. I think I had enough colour going on so opted for this awesome orange. These are made so well that the reflections do not tint, so they look amazing no matter what.
